124 Recordings are back with their ninth release,a five track ep representing a broad range of house emotions.First up sees the return of Tomson to 124 with the deeply sublime 'House Survivors',where he creates a myriad of layers from the warm atmospheric pads,to the bassline and haunting vocal.Next is Chocky who having been admired for his work on Big Bait,Roots For Bloom and Secret Reels, delivers his first release to the label by slowing down the bpm's on the wonky and hypnotic 'E'.CECIL follows up the success of his 'Raw Jam' track from the 'DAT Tapes'EP from two years ago with the jerking urgency of 'Pressure',where the warehouse friendly bassline dominates ,underpinned with rattling percussion and claps.The second half sees two interpretations of the 90's sound.Jay Shaw is up first with the low-end drive of 'Hot'.Fresh from releases on Dungeon Meat and Rutilance,this is a raw,peak-time track.Then to close the EP is another newcomer in French producer Timothee Milton.'Your Choices' has its roots firmly in the classic sound of mid 90's New York,,and is a fitting and respectful homage to bring the EP to a close.
