Item Description

This 2nd release from this recently formed international collective of producers, musicians and DJs from the US, UK and EU continue with their edgy, jazzy but lo-fi sound that featured on Vol. 1 which had plays from Gilles Peterson, Francois K and Fouk. Vol. 2 includes 'Knocking On The Door Of The Cosmos' which seeks inspiration from high priest Sun Ra, with its rich synth parts and Rhodes electric piano. DJ friendly 'Payback' includes numerous short sample edits and vocal chops, while 'Son of Equinox' is a musician heavy jazz-funk cut with layers of trumpet, live bass and drums being reminiscent of Louie Vegas' Elements of Life work. 'Theme For Chicago' offers the Windy City a Roy Ayers-inspired bouncy head nod tribute containing just the right amount of dirt which is as inspired by Detroit as it is Chicago. And finally there's an added 'Bonus Beats' like it's 1983.
