Back In Print! Colin Meloy's dynamic vocals lead the way on Castaways And Cutouts, the impressive '03 effort by Portland, OR quintet the Decemberists. Throughout the LP, Meloy's songs tell tales of life's castaways, including Spanish gypsies and Turkish prostitutes, painting glorious pictures with supposedly suspicious characters. After opening the album with two subdued tracks, "July, July!" is a lively anthem, setting a gloriously quirky pace for the rest of the album. 180-gram vinyl pressing.

Recorded in Chicago in 2001 with producer Brian Deck (Modest Mouse, Iron & Wine), Echolocation is the first in a long string of amazing and varied records by The Fruit Bats. This is the starting point, the songs that had been kicking around looking for a suitable home, and they found it here. With backing from many of the members of Califone, band leader Eric Johnson made a lush and understated record that stand the test of the ten years it’s been around. This vinyl release is a perfect marriage of sound and format, with its inherent pops and crackles only enhancing the back-porch-at-sunset vibe that permeates these songs.

Eyelids really had existed long before the band even started. In various previous groupings the band members had the great pleasure of creating music for some of the most legendary indie songwriters ever: Robert Pollard (Guided By Voices), Elliott Smith, Colin Meloy, Stephen Malkmus (Pavement/Jicks). But just a few years ago these longtime friends started to channel their teenage Paisley Underground obsessions & love of New Zealand & Flying Nun guitar buzz into their own music which they described as "sweet melodies & bummer vibes." This 7" is just a look see to the next full length LP. Buoyant, loud, pretty & haunting, it's all here (to hear). All recordings are exclusive to release this release including a 3rd digital bonus track. Dig in!

Functioning as a lo-fi companion piece to their newly released 5th full length, "A Band Is Something To Figure Out", the band employed a new method of songwriting to arrive at this short, psychedelic, lyrically-bananas new gem of an entry in their ever-growing discography. In April 2016, the band got together, hit record, & were forced to improv new instrumental music together, changing it completely every minute or two without discussion. Bandleader Ryan Walsh then took these tracks home & built vocal melodies on top of the tracks, arriving at this bizarre, delightful result.

Release:2016 / US – Original
Genre:Rock / Indie
Sin Ropas' (aka Tim Hurley) fuzz & blur is tightened into something beautifully sparse & rangy thanks to mixing by Brian Deck (Red Red Meat, Modest Mouse). These are bright, searing, imperfect songs that, as the title suggests, may seep into those places that you've been trying to forget or to hide. There's a catharsis in its splattered slow party of music, in its untethered rhythms & evaporating melodies, music that suggests that there's more than what we've seen or will see, how things seem more meaningful when reflected than in reality. "Mirror Bride" is the kind of record that reveals itself slowly & evokes the kind of experience you didn't even know you were missing.

"French Kayaking Music" was written for & inspired by the film "Voyagers Without Trace"; a documentary about a French trio who kayaked the Green & Colorado rivers in 1938. When Jenny Conlee (Decemberists / Black Prairie) heard that the film's director Ian McCluskey was looking for original music with a French flavor, a creative relationship was begun. Conlee was, at this time, delving deep into French accordion music. She was listening to old recordings & learning the style from books of French Musettes. Steve Drizos, drummer for Jerry Joseph & the Jackmormons & Conlee's husband & musical collaborator, was brought in as recording engineer & then as producer & composer as well.

First time ever on vinyl! In Chicago in the early 90s, combustable rock outfit Friends of Betty, led by songwriter Tim Rutili, collapsed & reconfigured itself as Red Red Meat. In 1992, the band released its self-titled debut on its own Perishable Records imprint. Over the course of its career, Red Red Meat would twist & expand its sound on a series of records for Sub Pop, eventually morphing into experimental outfit Califone, but Red Red Meat finds core members Rutili, Brian Deck, Ben Massarella, & Glenn Girard (along with Jimmy Chamberlin of the Smashing Pumpkins & Friends of Betty bassist Glynis Johnson) playing strutting, feedback-drenched rock & roll. Features alternate takes & rarities, notably their cover of 10cc's soft rock hit "I'm Not In Love."

In 1993 Red Red Meat released its 1st record for legendary Seattle label Sub Pop, "Jimmywine Majestic". Building on the grungy roots of the band's self-titled debut, the 2nd album was more confident & refined, with songwriter Tim Rutili's impressionistic lyrics hovering over twangy steel guitars, thick fuzzbox riffs, & barroom drums. The record finds the band (Rutili, Brian Deck, Glenn Girard, & Tim Hurley) moving away from the thrashing noise of the 1st record into more nuanced territory, maintaining its menacing swagger but injecting more space into the grooves. Features 4 additional tracks, 2 heard here for the 1st time

Limited edition for Record Store day 2015!2xLP Vinyl Only Release out for the 1st time on vinyl in 20 years, originally released by Sub Pop in 1995, comes with download, & includes 8 additional tracks. "At the time, I felt like we'd made a classic rock record," Red Red Meat main-man Tim Rutilli(Califone) says. "I was like, 'This is our Astral Weeks.'" But listening back 20 years later, Rutilli recognizes the band's ambition, a desire to break songs down to their barest, most primitive elements to "see what survives." Arguably the band's most complete album, the record pairs Stones-indebted blues-rock roots with beautiful songs, sounding miles removed from the era's grunge & radio-friendly alternative rock tropes.

With 13 songs, most of them clocking in at less than 2-1/2 minutes, their debut album "854" is full of what Eyelids (members of Decemberists, Boston Spaceships, Elliot Smith Band, Damien Jurado Band, Stephen Malkmus Band) describes as "sweet melodies & bummer vibes."

M. Ward's third album is clearly progressive while simultaneously sounding regressive, feeling dusty with age, and manifesting a genius that is pure and untempered. His music defies description except to say it is coming from somewhere seeped in the early blues w/ a Neil Young overlay and the feel of country, blues, pop, and folk.
