“I wanted to do something to honor the title track off of my debut album, Harlem River, turning five years old this year. Its been very good to me over the past half decade as well as a staple in my live show. I’ve asked Aaron [Coyes] from Peaking Lights to breath some new life into it and give it a remix and I’m very happy with the results. This December I will be performing an hour long version of the song featuring many special guests. I wrote the song to be about new explorations, and it continues to give me—year after year—just that.” —Kevin MorbyLimited edition 12″ featuring 2 extended Harlem River Dub remixes by Aaron Coyes / Peaking Lights with art by Robbie Simon. Digital includes an extended version of the original track. Edition of 1,000 on black vinyl.

This is Kevin's opus, a concept album on spirituality and religion. Throughout his four solo albums and myriad records of various collaboration, Kevin Morby has recognized in his work the ubiquity of an apparent religious theme. Though not identifying as "religious" in the slightest, Morby - the globetrotting son of Kansas City who has made music while living on both coasts before recently returning to his Midwestern stomping grounds - recognizes in himself a somewhat spiritual being with a secular attitude towards the soulful. And so, in an effort to tackle that notion head-on and once-and-for-all, he sat down in his form of church - on planes and in beds - and wrote what would become his first true concept-album: the lavish, resplendent, career-best double LP Oh My God. This one feels full circle, my most realized record yet," he says.

Formally a member of New York folk group Woods, Kevin Morby has made a name for himself with his four acclaimed solo releases. These songs, "Destroyer" and "Black Flowers", come from his third record Singing Saw, which was chosen for Pitchfork's Best New Music. "Destroyer" is an autobiographical minimalistic keyboard ballad, a distant cousin of the full band album version. "Black Flowers" on this single borrows less from the sweeping orchestras of Leonard Cohen's catalog and more from the melancholic austerity of Bert Jansch.

City Music", das vierte Album von Kevin Morby, ist eineSammlung, die von den Erfahrungen in Amerikas Großstädteninspiriert ist. Oder wie Morby sagt: “It is a mix-tape, a feverdream, a love letter dedicated to those cities that I cannot get ridof, to those cities that are all inside of me." Auf der ersten Single„Come To Me Now" ließ er all diejenigen aufhorchen, die mitMorbys Werk bereits vertraut sind, denn ein Harmoniumkündigte darin den neuen Sound des Songwriters an. „City Music"funktioniert als Gegenstück zu seinem letzten Album „SingingSaw". Diesmal geht es zwar auch um verschiedene Formen derEinsamkeit, allerdings in einem urbanen Umfeld. „Here, LouReed and Patti Smith stare out at the listener," erklärtMorby. “Stretched out on a living room floor they aresomewhere in mid-70s Manhattan, also smoking cigarettes."

Having established his musical foundation in the trippy roots rock of Woods & rough-hewn Brooklyn party pop of The Babies, Morbystepped out on his own to release his lauded debut album Harlem River in 2013. Here, both the title track & b-side "We Did It All Wrong" simultaneously conjure the haunting heartache of an Anthology of American Folk Music ballad & the reverb-&-smoke-drenched haze of his contemporary indie peers. Includes download.
