Ship to Shore PhonoCo. is proud to present the original video game soundtrack to Konami’s classic shoot-em-up LIFE FORCE (AKA Salamander). An off-shoot of the phenomenally successful GRADIUS series, LIFE FORCE took players into a world of body horror, fighting giant brains, mummies, and other assorted weirdos. The game also continued Konami Kukeiha Club’s unparalleled winning streak when it comes to pulse pounding, brain blasting music.

Side A of this release features the original NES/Famicom version of the soundtrack familiar to game fanatics the world over. Side B features the MSX version which took advantage of the Konami SCC add-on chip, giving this version’s FM Synthesis sound even more of a punch. “A soundtrack quite unlike anything else on the [Famicom/NES]” - hardcoregaming101.net
Konami’s Largange Point is often seen as the high technical watermark in Famicom/NES chiptune music. This Japan-only release contained a special memory
mapper chip (the VRC7) that enabled the cartridge to produce FM synthesis, giving it a quality that no other Famicom/NES game can compete with.
Lagrange Point is a wholly unique specimen for the Famicom and Ship to Shore is proud to present the first ever official Western release of the score. Composed
by the legendary Konami Kukeiha Club, with some input from Japanese recording artist Akio Dobashi (REBECCA), the score makes full use of the aforementioned
VRC7 to create an incredibly atmospheric experience. You’ve certainly never heard your Famicom, or your turntable, emit sounds like this!
Featuring artwork by Drew Wise and liner notes by USgamer.net’s Jeremy Parish, this is a release not to be missed by serious game music fans!

Release:2018 / US – Original

Featuring artwork by Oliver Barrett. Pressed on Double 180 Gram BLACK vinyl. Mondo is thrilled to premiere the next in our on-going CASTLEVANIA soundtrack series with the PC-Engine title CASTLEVANIA: RONDO OF BLOOD, and the game's Super Nintendo port CASTLEVANIA: DRACULA X.

Originally released only in Japan on the PC-Engine (a system known in the US as the TurboGrafx-16), RONDO OF BLOOD is one of the most widely missed chapters of the CASTLEVANIA saga. Better known now as the "prequel" to the hugely popular and influential title CASTLEVANIA: SYMPHONY OF THE NIGHT (the first level of which is a re-creation of the final battle of RONDO OF BLOOD). The story follows Richter Belmont, descendent of Simon and Trevor, on his journey to save his girlfriend and her little sister Maria from the clutches of Dracula.

The game was eventually ported to the Super Nintendo Entertainment System a few years later but due to the limitations of the hardware, the port of RONDO OF BLOOD was re-made and re-named CASTLEVANIA: DRACULA X - a streamlined and more linear version of the game, featuring a soundtrack better suited to the system's capabilities.

Ship to Shore PhonoCo. is proud to present, for the first time on vinyl, the soundtrack to Konami's classic shoot-em-up GRADIUS III. Now emboldened by new hardware by way of the newly released Super Nintendo Entertainment System, GRADIUS III represents the Konami Kukeiha Club first foray into 16-bit territory. Right of the gate, they proved that they were the masters of the form.

The A-Side of this record contains the original soundtrack to the Super Famicom/Super NES version of GRADIUS III. This rendition of the score features the sampling technology provided by the unique, Sony produced audio chip found in the Super Famicom. The B-Side contains the complete original soundtrack to the arcade version of GRADIUS III. Only released in Japan at the time, this version uses the FM Sythethis technology commonly used by arcade developers at the time.

Each version compliments the other quite nicely, and Ship to Shore encourages the listener to decide which is better. In the words of Retronauts' Jeremy Parish, "Does the jittery mechanical intensity of the arcade arrangement feel more complete to you? Or do you prefer the slightly more laid-back richness created by the quirky Super NES sound chip? They're both great, of course, but each one provides a meaningfully different listening experience – as you're about to find out."

Included with the album is a double sided insert, with one side featuring a close up of Ian Wilding's cover artwork and the other side featuring liner notes from Retronauts' Jeremy Parish. Pressed on clear vinyl
* Newly remastered audio, never heard outside of Japan
* Interlocking Cover artwork
* Liner notes by Retronatus' Jeremy Pari

OST Contra III: The Alien Wars
LP | 2017 | US | Original (Mondo)
31,99 €*
Release:2017 / US – Original
Genre:Soundtracks
Mondo celebrates the 30th anniversary of the “Contra” franchise with the premiere vinyl release of the original soundtrack to the 1992 Super Nintendo sequel: “Contra 3: Alien Wars”.
Set 3 years after the original, Red Falcon and his legion have returned to Earth, this time with the intent of launching a full-scale war against its inhabitants. It's up to Bill and Lance, our heroes to scale walls, ride motorcycles, and even cling to soaring missiles in an attempt to defeat the onslaught.

The music of “Contra 3: The Alien Wars” is epic to say the least - the looping sequences of each level are longer, taking full advantage of the new audio capabilities available to the composers on the Super Nintendo. In some instances, like with 'Battle Runner' which operates on-the-rails for large stretches, it affords for the composers to have some sequences to go nearly two minutes before a single loop. The sweeping scope of these tracks leads to a chaos absent from the previous chapters of the run-and-gun series, while still obeying the structures and pacing of Video Game music... Just with more complex time signatures, and percussion patterns.

This 30th anniversary edition features all 13 BGM tracks from the game.
