Following up on our reissue project Still Burning, we have put together a compilation of three hard-to-find tracks by Spookin’ Tha House a.k.a. Silverlining a.k.a. Asad Rizvi. For nearly 25 years Asad has been committing his singular, shuffle-heavy brand of house music to wax, and he simply refuses to go out of style; any self-respecting DJ who manages to snag a copy of one of his many twelve-inches will not easily let it go. But you gotta find one first. To help you with that we’ve gathered three tracks originally released in 1996 on Asad’s own Reverberations label, remastered and recut from the original DAT tapes for maximum dance floor pleasure.

We’re opening the new year with a homegrown white label, the first in a series strictly showcasing artists from Amsterdam. On the A1 we have the talented guys of Windows with the epic “Could I Be Crazy?”. Yes, but you’re not; this is definitely anthem material. Next up it’s Match Box’s “Spaarndammerstraat”, a breaky, ravey ode to one of their favorite streets in the city. The B1 is a twisty take on classic deep house by Late Night Burners’ own Kurley and Roman Coskun, while for the B2, veteran MOOR blends more than a decade of experience into a vibrating slice of broken beat.

Late Night Burners EP number five brings us Montreal’s Riohv for three deep cuts plus fellow Montrealer man of the hour Priori providing the remix. The first place you’ve never been is Planet Namek, locking you in with lush pads and tropical synth work. Then immediately on the A2 we move to Priori’s Spellcaster Mix. It takes a while to get there, but once the spell is cast, you don’t want to leave Namek anymore. On the flip we start off with the deep and groovy club workout Obstacle, followed by the blissful downtempo comedown of Ev Eb Otto.

Next up on Late Night Burners we have four warm cuts by Roman Coskun. With the “Feels Like Forever EP” he showcases his own personal brand of wayward, but elegant deep house. The title track is deep, but very functional, and clearly built on the underpinnings of classic deep house, while remaining fresh at the same time. Then it’s time for Sunwards, blending acidic dreaminess with a lock-tight groove. On the B1, Steps reminds us of Mediterranean summers, with its warm pads and floaty steel drums, and finally, on Tales from the Reef the gifted 92 Spacedrum Orchestra joins in for a raw, yet delicate late-night club joint.

First up on the fresh Amsterdam-based label Late Night Burners is Kurley’s debut “Feelings EP”. For this young and very talented musician anything goes, as long as it’s unique, warm, rhythmic, and raw, and this five tracker perfectly showcases this ethos. From the uplifting, acid-driven title track, we dive straight into “Heartbeat”, taking us a level deeper. On the B-side Kurley starts off with the stabby, slightly melancholic “Long Time” while never losing the floor out of sight, preparing us for the vocoder-infused killer “Groove All Night”. Closing off the EP is “Tribute”, bringing a more exotic type of heat. In short: a lot to love.
