One thing is for sure though, the music peaks volumes and that is why we didn't hesitate to sign all three of them.

It's a rare thing but sometimes it happens...a tune! You know one of those jams you just want play over and over again because it embodies something truly special, something undefined but authentic that just makes perfect sense to your ears but also gives you that warm goose bump feeling. This is exactly how we felt when we first heard the demo of "Speak To Me". With a classic spiritual Chicago house feel, a thumpin' (not pumpin') 4/4 production it's all topped with a melodic vocal sample that brings back memories to classic jams like Seven Grand Housin' Authority "Love's Got Me High". It's simple yet powerful house music jam-packed with honest emotions.

We've reached a pivotal moment for Local Talk. What better way to celebrate a centenary of forward thinking releases than to present one of the best kept secrets out there, MLiR aka Modern Life Is Rubbish this time joined by Arnau Obiols. After making a serious impact with their remarkable 'Swedish Lo-Life' and 'Trans-World Junktion' releases on fellow Swedish label Studio Barnhus, we're thrilled to have them onboard for our 100th release on Local Talk. Yes, that is correct, we're celebrating the big 100. Since the very beginning we've covered everything from the deeper shades of house to the jackin' and the gritty club jams, released some slower BPMs and also the uplifting, vocal and organic house. As you probably noticed - we love it all. The 100th release main track 'Lajbans' is one of those sublime tunes that is bridging the gap between all styles of dance music and got the MLiR trademark, it's epic and manages to offer plenty of subtle details to keep you locked for the full 9 minute experience. Accompanied with the original is a masterclass in dub 'Lajbans (Bellaterra dub)'. You got the versatility of the original carefully stripped back but also absorbing layers upon layers of seductive sonic moods, it's a trip for sure and you don't want it to end. Once again MLiR proves why they will be a force to be reckoned with for years to come.

With a prolific output of such a consistently high standard many do not realise that Art Of Tones has never released a solo artist album, but with this new LP on Local Talk that is soon to change. Investing blood, sweat and tears Art Of Tones has spent many hours on this debut album release, which is not just a selection of club tracks, but a storytelling piece of music where each track compliments the others. The opening cut 'Prolegomenes' welcomes you into the project with jokes about sampling, showing a light-hearted attitude to the fact samples make up a large percentage of this warm and jazzy album. After the enticing intro track comes the funk-filled and familiar style of house that Art Of Tones fans both love and respect, with upbeat melodies and infectious grooves it's fair to say this release is a real feel good mood lifter.

Jaxx Madicine is a jazz-funk inspired house-ish outfit from Milan consisting of Turbojazz (Local Talk, GAMM Records), Parker Madicine (Heist, Bastard Jazz Brooklyn, CT-HI Records) and the talented jazz keyboardist 'Veez_0'.

With an organic and melodic sound collage you can hear influences from classic 70's jazz funk labels and artists like CTI, Mizell Brothers, Kudu and Bob James but also the current sounds of Kaidi Tatham, Byron The Aquarius and Harvey Sutherland.

After their debut EP 'Montreux' they are now ready to drop their full album 'Distant Classic' where the Jaxx crew exit planet earth and treat us to a space music odyssey that is full of surprises.
During the journey they deliver house, jazz, fusion, boogie and jazzy beats from a highly melodic keyboard perspective.
All tracks are made with a genuine love for analogue synthesizers, fender Rhodes, clavinets and some soulful MPC programming.

'Distant Classic' is an album that can be enjoyed both in the club and at home, but we hope you will enjoy their melodic sounds on any platform. Just press go and enjoy the trip...

We've had our eyes and ears on Tee Mango for a while now.

His debut album 'Imperfections' is a future classic in our book and the Tribute series has been part of our DJ-sets for a while now.
In short - we had to get him to do an EP for Local Talk.

DADHAUS EP is forward-thinking music with an edge (undoubtedly sharpened through countless studio hours).
Tee channels the deep house flavours of Detroit and Chicago across four tracks of exquisitely executed percussion and 'sample-not-sample' work.

It's another winner from the man like Tee Mango.

Cuthead have, over the last few years released all kinds of gritty house and hip hop beats but normally through his friends over at Uncanny Valley. We're now overjoyed to offer you his first EP on Local Talk and honestly, it's everything we could've hoped for. Spread out over four tracks you get a real dirty basement jam (Fuck That Shit), a sample friendly house nugget (Get Down) and a melodic 4/4 tune that sounds like if Cuthead and our old friend HNNY hooked up in the studio together. To round off the EP we also included something extra special for the beat heads, a jazzy instrumental hip hop number (What Can I Say).

Release:2017 / EU – Original
Genre:Electronic / Dance
Local Talk welcomes Detroit house music legend Terrence Parker to the family.

His release is not only the first of 2017 but also marks the 75th release on Local Talk.

Sometimes you just want a producer to deliver what he's best at and with these two tracks that is exactly what we get.
Opening track Gratiot Avenue Piano is a straight forward piano house track that hits peak hour business in just a couple of minutes. If you like the classic Terrence Parker sound like we do, then don’t look any further.

On the flip Unconditional embellishes all that's good about a house track, a delightfully soulful house bump together with an infectious organ hook. There's no messing around on this release and Terrence never puts a foot wrong throughout these two tracks, both are perfectly conceived from start to finish.

It really feels like we (aka Mad Mats & Tooli) have been around way longer than 5 1/2 years with Local Talk, but it's really true what they say, time flies when you're having fun!

From what started as a somewhat simple and almost primitive urge to create a small house imprint has now grown into a much bigger affair.
We really tried hard to keep the label from getting stuck in any genre (remember 90s house?) and to always keep the Local Talk relevant, curious, diverse and with a healthy dose of underground mentality.

From our very first release with Bassfort's excellent 'Moon Shadow' in the Summer of 2011, we had a crystal clear vision of what Local Talk should represent...House music in any way, shape or form!
Over the years we released soulful, Disco, jack, afro, vocal, deep, Jazz, tech, latin, old school, acid, UK, Berlin, New Jersey, Detroit and of course Chicago inspired house music. If it made us bump...we put it out!

This brings us up to today and about +80 releases later. We thought about how we best could sum up these first 5 1/2 years and immediately the image of Blaze's classic album '25 Years Later' popped up.
Besides the fact that it's an amazing album cover it also a good representation when different musical genres fuse together. It's not strictly a house album but just as well a r&b, reggae and soul album. This fusion and variation of house sounds is something that we've tried to capture on our '5 1/2 Years Later' compilation, split into two parts.

On part 1 you'll find a dark bassline driven house jam from Art Of Tones (check the mad sax!), a proper deep journey jam from NYC's DJ Spinna, a Blaze homage with that classic New Jersey sound from Sean McCabe, and a bumpy world/jazz inspired cut straight outta Brescia from wonder kid Corrado Bucci.

All in all we think we got most angles covered and hopefully this album will make you spread that chalk on the dance floor and get down...Local Talk style!
Ezel - Get Down Feat. Tumelo

Get Down Feat. Tumelo
12" | 2016 | UK | Original (Local Talk)
11,99 €*
Release:2016 / UK – Original
Genre:Electronic / Dance
Music has always played a major part in Ezel's life.
Having done remix work for labels such as Yoruba, King Street and Reel People and working with artists such as Tortured Soul, Daz-I-Kue, AtJazz, John Arnold & Jeremy Ellis, it's now time to welcome Ezel to the Local Talk family with 'Get Down'.

Opening is the title track 'Get Down (Original Mix)', with its immersive chords, bumping bassline and the help from the unmistakeable vocal talents of Tumelo, it's House the way we like it. Both soulful and deep.

On the B-side Ezel serves us a remix of Get Down. There's no denying in that there's a strong Osunlade 'Envisionesque' feel to this one - and that's a good thing !

An absolute must for every DJ's bag, trust us.

Finally production heavyweight Atjazz revisits the glory of the Bayacou Mix but focuses more on the finer tweaks, it's all in the details folks.

The Slope EP

Release:2015 / EU – Original
Genre:Electronic / Dance
Ever since the debut, 'Communication EP' which also marked our 50th release, Alexander Lay-Far has a special place in the Local Talk family.

Since then things have been going well with plenty more releases, tours, the launch of his label In-Beat-Ween Music plus a new full length album done.
With so many things on the go we're of course very happy to welcome Lay-Far back and with him this time, two UK house legends that need little introduction, Ashley Beedle and Darren Morris. Together the trio produced an EP that embraces the charms of both disco and house and we think it hits on every level.

The A-side is dedicated to 'Doctor Feelgood', which is just as the name suggests, a delicious disco house cut that will make you feel good.
Extra bonus points for the wonky bassline.

On the flip, you'll find two versions of Slope. The first one is an easy / breezy number built around jazzy drums, warm chords to catch your breath for a minute or two, lovers of rhodes should lend the track an extra ear, it's pure bliss.

After those 5 minutes and 14 seconds has ended Lay-Far steps into the remix arena, turns up the tempo and sends the track straight to the dance floor.

No need to fiddle around too much, he just sprinkles some extra touches of Lay-Far magic to the original and voila, it's done.

No One Can Stop Us EP

He's young, gifted and Italian! Corrado Bucci is the latest star to enter the Local Talk family of house. He currently holds the A&R position at Rebirth Records where he also put out the beautiful "Open Your Eyes" single last year. He previously also released on Defected and has earned respect from people like Gilles Peterson, Jimpster, Dan Curtin, Agoria, X-Press 2, Ben Westbeech and Solomun to name just a few. The hype is on and Corrado have already started gathering a reputation within the house music community with his symphonic sound that incorporates everything from jazz to electronica. His Local Talk debut is an instant classic. Starting with 'It's Not Over', a mesmerising piano loops meet a bouncy bass line that makes a magnificent house winner. Continuing we find the deeper and more melodic title track 'No One Can Stop Us' that features beautiful strings and old-school soul samples. The EP also includes remixes by Martin Patino (Cadenza, Freerange, Trapez) and Turbojazz (CTHI, GAMM), the former being a total makeover with a dark and gritty big room yet underground feel, while fellow Italian producer Turbojazz gives the same track a more Detroit(ish) jazzy feel. Deep and melodic but still with a raw feel.
