This is a collection of works from British musician GP Hall, recorded between 1994 and 1999. For over four decades, guitar in hand Hall encountered many styles; jazz, blues, flamenco, rock, folk, and classical improvisation. All contributed to the creation of his unique style. Emerging from the British blues boom of the 1960’s, he then followed a long and winding path through various scenes and cultures. In Spain, he was Influenced by flamenco master Manitas Del Plata before touring Europe with Liverpool band Casey Jones & the Governors. He was commissioned three times (twice by The Arts Council of Great Britain) for original music and was immersed in the avant-garde scene of the 1970’s as an improviser, a pioneer of electric flamenco and a composer of large-scale ensemble pieces. During the 1980’s Hall turned his focus to soundtrack music before reinventing himself as the solo performer he is today. With this strong foundation he branched into a tactile expression of his craft, discovering a new style which he called industrial sound sculptures. These sonic compositions are performed on electric and acoustic guitars as well as the six-string bass and are played with various techniques and implements including slides, battery fans, the psaltery bow, razors, toys, Velcro and crocodile clips which are fed through sound processors to create a rich sonic environment.

Life Garden was formed in Phoenix, Arizona during the fall of 1989 by George Dillon, Su Ling and W. David Oliphant. The group was the reinvention of post-industrial band Maybe Mental (1982-1987) and delved into an ineffable territory; where language failed, their music found root. Life Garden's sound focused on creating a space that would transcend people to a world of beauty, intensity and mystery. Each release was loosely guided by one member, “Caught between the Tapestry of Silence and Beauty” (1991) was focused towards the poetry and vocals of George Dillon who sadly passed away after the completion of the album. During this period Life Garden began to shift from using synths and samplers to an all acoustic approach. Over several months Su Ling and David developed a unique improvisational style using digital multi-effects and loopers to process Su's vocals and a variety of percussion, string and wind instruments. This became the foundation of their sound and is heard throughout 'Songs from the other Side of Emptiness'. The LP + 7inch includes music from the following bodies of work: “Worlds Whirl Beneath The Sun Volume 1” (1990), “Pry Open My Mouth With The Red Knife Of Heaven” (1992) and “Seed” (1993) and Ahitanaman (1995).

Air Cushion Finish formed in Berlin in 2007 and comprises of composer Jayrope and natural vocal synthesizer Lippstueck, who have graced Berlin’s underground scene together since the 1990's. Lippstueck sings, wordless and backwards in time while his partner Jayrope tends DIY, electronic, string or percussion instruments small enough to fit into a small suitcase. Changing setup and subsequently music is programmatic to the band, resulting into an unforeseeable slow motion cacophony of whispers, bleeps, rhythms and harmonies. There’s a notion of Dada, but you never know. The 8th studio album definitely marks their current state of poetical accident, swaying, swinging and bouncing, boldly careful, like a transparent tattoo on your forehead.
