Dutch underground acid-techno act Random XS strikes again with two rugged and authentic dance floor rockers. After a long awaited re-release of their Djax-Up-Beats classic 'Give Your Body' last year on Delsin, they return with a pair of fresh and unheard acid jams on the closely related MOS Recordings. Both tracks recorded in the early '90s, but only recently finalized and improved for heavy club impact. It's an EP full with gurgling 303 grooves and raw energy in the traditional and energetic Random XS way.

Marco Spaventi and MOS label head Aroy Dee link up for another of their intriguing collaborations. They have done so before on this label back in 2012, and their latest offers another vital mix of raw house and ambient. Opener 'The Way We Love' features typically rough, blistered drums and sci-fi synths, but this time with a heavenly vocal and uplifting chords up top that tug on your heart strings. An ambient reprise of the same track is a perfect excuse to kick back and get lost in your own thoughts. 'The Way We Move' then takes a long view, with far-gazing Detroit pads and mid tempo drums getting you deep into a dreamy groove that is wide open and expansive. Last of all, Marco remixes this one on his own and flips it into something that is even more melodic, with circling pads and a musical bassline all making for a beautiful piece of timeless house music.

MOS Recordings kick off 2019 with Better Dead Than Alien, a new EP from ASOK.
The Liverpool, UK artist has been releasing on the label since 2014 but this is his first since 2015 and it features four more of his expansive and textured club tracks. With one foot on the dance floor and a mind lost somewhere in the cosmos, ASOK again combines breakbeats, astral synth work and prickly percussion into fresh new forms here. The title track is a twitchy and futuristic bit of house with glistening and distorted textures, Find A Way has a rubbery bassline and old school rave breaks, and Many Locations is a bumping bit of deep Detroit house with a real sense of serenity. Closer Baal ends in the heavens, with celestial ambiance, spinning hi hats and broken beats all sounding delicate yet dynamic as rasping bass ties everything together. This is another timeless and adventurous EP from ASOK.

This is the offical 2016 Repress. 12 years on from it's original release - this absolute classic rises again from Newworldaquarium in Ross 154 mode. The second release on the M>O>S record label could have been part of Hollands rich techno-history, if released when the tracks where made. Dating back as early as 1993, these two tracks come straight out of a plastic bag full of SA90 tapes in Ross154s bathroom (thats where he plays his music loud) and a card-board box filled with cassettes rediscovered while moving Aroy Dee into his way too expen-sive spacious loft in the historical centre of Amsterdam. It took some effort to polish these tracks so they could be released. “Until my heart stops”is probably the older of the two tracks, and has survived the humid environment of the mystical washing facilities rather well. I guess he likes to shower long, but never too long. “Kaoz” is a small part of the now infamous My Old Piano sessions at the hangout of Haarlem DJ-collective Kaoz Connection, which where heavily inspired by KLF, The Orb and J-J-J-jack fever. Named after the always-present Diana Ross evergreen My Old Piano on 33rpm these sets they were a pretty mad mix of live elec-tronics and odd tunes, and always ended in either a neighbourhood riot or a civilized police-request. Unfortunately most of these sets are lost forever, but somehow someone managed to press record while the 154 was doing some serious knob twisting. Finally these great tunes will be available again from now.
