This is the first album of King Ayisoba with a full band, creating a total new high energy powerful sound with traditional acoustic instruments. This is the traditional music from the future. King Ayisoba is a 21st century songwriter, singing in English, Frafra and Twi, playing all over the world, living in megapolis Accra but never forgetting his Northern Ghanaian roots. King Ayisoba is a big star in Ghana and is ruling the pop charts with his unique and catchy sound. Winning the Ghana music award for best popular song with his big number one hit single 'I Want To See You My Father', a traditional kologo song, hit all hip life, high life, R&B and hip hop lovers in West Africa with surprise. King Ayisoba is changing the music scene again with his 2014 full length album called 'Wicked Leaders' holding no leave in front of his mouth and addressing all who need to hear what is going on and what is going wrong in Ghana, in Africa and in the world. These songs are not love songs, these are songs with a message inside and it is coming out loud and clear, while standing still is out of the question, so we all better put power in our bodies and move with King Ayisoba. While on tour with his band in Europe in 2013 King Ayisoba decided he wanted his new album recorded with only acoustic traditional instruments to put the energetic live sound on LP and CD and let the whole world hear what traditional music can sound like in the 21st century.
Zea - The Swimming City
The Swimming City
LP | 2014 | EU | Original (Makkum)
8,39 €* 11,99 € -30%
Release:2014 / EU – Original
Genre:Electronic / Dance
Since 2008 Zea is the solo project of Arnold de Boer (who is also singer and guitarist in Dutch band The Ex, since 2009). Before 2008 Zea was a duo and earlier a five piece band, but the songs were always written, arranged, recorded and produced by De Boer. 'The Swimming City' is Zea's fifth album, and the first one featuring guest artists. Immediately in the first song 'Sub Specie Ludens' Mats Gustafsson appears on baritone sax and 'People Shrink, People Grow' features Oscar Jan Hoogland on piano, who returns in 'All Words Have Been Here First', the song that also features the characteristic and recognisable clarinet playing of Xavier Charles who De Boer made a 7" single with in 2012 called 'Bourgeois Blues' (Makkum Records, MR 5). Zea has toured all over the world and played in thirty five different countries including Ethiopia and Ghana. In Ghana Zea set up a studio with local musicians where two of the songs on 'The Swimming City' were recorded: 'Dark Minded Me' and 'Ik Kin Der Net By'. This last song is sung in Frysian, De Boer's first language, who grew up in a small town called Makkum, in Fryslan in the northern part of The Netherlands. On this album Zea's songs sound more open and versatile. Zea music is direct music; fat-free and no words wasted. Some songs are about consciousness and some songs are about simple things; Zea can take a subject out of the world of encyclopedia and move it into the musical mind. They are the frescos of he twenty first century, unfolding before your ears. His tracks are elastic, urgent, always playful, joyfully obstinate and with double bottoms and open ends.
