“Jazz (We've Got)” was the title of the second single from A Tribe Called
Quest's iconic album “The Low End Theory”. It was released in 1991, the
same year FloFilz was born. Similar to Tribe FloFilz resurrects jazz for a
new generation. He has been doing this for a while now and is pretty good
at it, as you might know if you are familiar with his previous works
“Metronom” and “Cenário”.
In 2019 things have changed. Today jazz is not only about diggin' old
records and learning about Bird and Trane. Jazz is very much alive and the
city of London has become one of its epicenters. The UK jazz scene is
happening because it is deeply connected with hip-hop, soul and club
music. A perfect setting for FloFilz. Over the last 18 months, he has
collected serious Eurostar miles, heading from Aachen to London - going to
gigs, hanging out with musical allies and recording new material.
This is why he calls his new album “Transit”. Through 18 tracks FloFilz
translates the current London vibe in his very own style and fashion and I
dare to say that “Transit” may be the best album he has treated us with so

Mitgewirkt haben C.A. Ramirez am Beat und der Retrogott an den Cuts. Auf drei weiteren Songs gibt es Poetry von PBLouison (bekannt vom Leatherback Tape auf A.U.D.D.A.) bzw. Rap und

the six-digit plays mark on Soundcloud. FloFilz grew up in Belgium and lives currently in Aachen where his studies violin. When it comes to his own beats, jazz reigns supreme over nearly any other music. „Metronom“ is his first official album and we are delighted to release it on Melting Pot Music.
"Non semper erit aestas!" - Like Erasmus once said, it will not always be summer. But we are talking about Summer with an "s" here: Summers Sons! An up and coming hip-hop duo consisting of Turt (rap) and Slim (beats) who are actual brothers. Born and raised in London, now living in Bristol. Good friend Charlie Tappin adds into the mix with vocals and keys. Charlie and Turt were both featured on Twit One's latest album "Hay Luv". Producer Slim has just released a beat through KO-OP. The "Undertones EP" will be released in January 2018 and remixes from FloFilz and Twit One are in the making. And please note: It's Summers with an "s”
“Collecting” which summarizes both EP's on one record.
„Collecting it’s an eyes closed journey throughout memories, a collection of some everyday little stories, still paying a tribute to my hip hop musical background. Every beat is like an object found at the bottom of the sea, every sample emerges from my record collection, turning into something new, like corals of the Ocean.“ as Koralle writes in the linernotes.
When we started KO-OP in the summer of 2017, little did we knew where this journey would take us to. Ever since we had the pleasure to work with 21 artists from all over the world and have put out almost 80 tracks on lp, tape and digital. Now we are happy to share with you KO-OP 2 - a split album by two of our favourite producers from the UK: Slim and Joe Corfield. Slim is one half of London rap group Summers Sons. The Sons are signed to MPM where they have released two albums (“Undertones” & “Uhuru”). In February 2019 Summers Sons will play their first German tour together with Children of Zeus. Slim has released instrumental cuts on KO-OP, Brownswood and Banoffee Pie, plus a beattape on Yogocop Records. Joe Corfield hails from Birmingham and has released a string of albums via Radio Juicy and Yogocop. He is coming with his very own sound. Futuristic and soulful, with a great ear to detail. It was actually Flofilz' idea to have them both on one record. “KO-OP 2” will be released on one LP with two individual covers by Rahel Süßkind, a Berlin based artist (and part of Money $ex Records) who is responsible for all KO-OP artwork.

MPM are happy to announce "Crack" - the debut EP by YAYA!
YAYA are an up and coming producer duo from Cologne who are adding a whole different sound to KO-OP. If you remember their first track "2133" from last September, you already have an idea where the journey leads to: the YAYA sound is electronic and cloudy with a soft spot for the right sample at the right place. Chilled out retro-futuristic trap instrumentals, perfect for post turn-up activities and before yoga classes.
Growing up together in the 90s, watching music videos on MTV, YAYA kept up the love for the bump and recently proved their skills creating smooth bandcamp beattapes with nothing more than a cracked version of Fruity Loops. YAYA were the producers behind Leila Akinyi's debut single "Afro Spartana" and are also part of SKRT, a regular trap party at Studio 672, Cologne.
The "Crack" EP delivers 9 original pieces of contemporary rhythm and bass! It will be available digital and on tape and is packaged with another great artwork by Rahel Süßkind.

jazz-rap duo Summers Sons. In 2018 they released their debut album "Uhuru" on Melting Pot Music. "Ashes To
Ashes" is Tappin's first solo EP. It's a reflection of a musical and personal journey. On four original jams Tappin fuses
cosmic jazz, broken beat, house and rap. Inspired by his life in London as well as by his travels to Tansania where
he is working as a teacher for various school projects. "Ashes To Ashes" comes with three radical reworks by some
of Tappin's favourite producers: Slim (Summers Sons), Reginald Omas Mamode IV and Hodini. The cover artwork
has been done by UK painter / illustrator Tilly Mint (known for her artworks for Yazmin Lacey and Wulu).

"Uhuru" is the debut album by Summers Sons & C.Tappin from London and Bristol.
The journey of this album started back in 2015 and was inspired by the people and
places of Tanzania. After three years of channelling the vibe into beats and bars, it is
Summers Sons are Turt (rap) + Slim (beats) who are actually brothers. They are
longtime friends with vocalist and pianist C.Tappin. Their music can be described as
rap with a lot of jazz. We like to call it cool bap.
Turt first got into hip-hop through Grime but also cites UK wordsmith Jehst as a
major influence. Slim was doing UK Garage for a while, when his brother asked him
for some more chilled beats to rap to. Tappin came up in a musical family, picked up
the piano as a kid and played in indie bands.
With such diverse backgrounds Summers Sons and C.Tappin are not your average
rap group. They would actually rather name their crew a band. Which makes total
sense when you catch them live. Slim slices up the beats on his SP404. Tappin gets
busy on the keys and adds vocal harmonies while Turt holds down the vibe on the
mic, spitting lyrics with a message.
Still only in their early twenties Turt, Slim and Tappin are somehow old souls when it
comes to music. If you listen to "Uhuru" you are unmistakably reminded of the
Soulquarians school of fusing hip-hop, soul and jazz. Follow the Sons' "Road To
Uhuru" playlist on Spotify and you are treated with gems from D'Angelo, Dilla, Badu
and Bilal back to back with new UK Jazz tunes from Alfa Mist or Ezra Collective.
Rounded up with a selection of dusty beats from German beatmakers like Hubert
Davis and Twit One. On their own songs Summers Sons and C.Tappin are
connecting these dots in their very own style and fashion.
While Slim had already released beats on Banoffee Pies and Brownswood, Turt and
Tappin made their official debut on the "Hay Luv" album by Twit One , who they had
met when he played a DJ gig in Bristol some years ago. With the release of the
Summers Sons' "Undertones" EP on MPM in early 2018 the London - Cologne
connection became official. The six tracker introduced the sound of the Summers
and Tappin to a bigger audience and included remixes by FloFilz and Twit One.

The album was the first longform release by the Cologne-based producer.
"Proceduri De Rutina" was heavyly inspired by the Romanian jazz scene. The record started as a just-for-fun-beattape, after Hubert got hooked on the vintage jazz of his home country in late 2009. Call it magic, but the sample sources and Hubert's trademark sound fitted so well that the new music cried for a release. "Proceduri De Rutina" is a deep but chilled trip into Hubert Daviz's sound cosmos, inspired by some of the most obscure Eastern-European jazz you have never heard of.
To celebrate the 5th anniversary, Hubert has asked some of his producer friends to revisit the album together. Dexter, FloFilz, Wun Two, TBRCK, Max Graef and Hulk Hodn all delivered great interpretations.
The 5th anniversary edition will be released as a double LP using the original artwork by Robert Winter and Chicken George. The remix LP has it's own title "O Alta Perspectiva" and is packaged in a new cover by Robert Winter, shot at the same building where the cover photo for "Proceduri De Rutina" has been made.

Melting Pot Music Music
In 2002, Melting Pot Music was founded by Oliver “Olski” von Felbert, a DJ, music activist and former Groove Attack/Superrappin A&R from Cologne, Germany. The first commercial release was a 45 single by Lefties Soul Connection from Amsterdam: 500 copies have been manufactured and sold-out within three weeks. A couple of years later, MPM is the home of artists like DJ Day, A-ko, Devil McDoom, Hawkeye, Le Scratchfunk, Upskiboo and Imperial Breed. The signature Melting Pot Music sound is deeply rooted in hip-hop music (and culture) while the MPM artists come from places all over the globe such as Amsterdam, Palm Springs, Kopenhagen, Paris, Hamburg etc. MPM is taking the old to the new, and they have just begun!
