Nadja were born in the eighties in Sarzana (Liguria). Towards the end of '82 the two founding members Fabio Giannini (guitar) and Osvaldo Lanata (vocals) were joined by Michele Militello on bass and Roberto Andreotti on drums. The first tape - La Joie - was recorded in the new AR Studios in San Terenzo. Clearly influenced by the british goth movement Nadja soon introduced more than a reference to the French culture and the Mediterranean music. The surrealist matrix is evident in the lyrics, even if the socio-political influence is still there.
At the turn of ‘ 85, the second tape – Eros – is out. While strictly anchored to the dark / post punk area, folk elements and dilated structures definitely appeared. After the release of that tape there is a slight change: Lanata leaves the group replaced by Maurizio Montemauri, and the lyrics will be soon written and sung in Italian, no longer in English. In ‘87 Nadja are just about to enter the studio again, but for a series of personal reasons (study, work, military service) the group is forced to stop.
‘Til 2015 actually, when two tapes containing a concert and a live rehearsal of the new songs are found. A re-mastered version of these recordings will resurface in the FU_Nadja 87 cd, released that same year. Due to a series of positive feedback, Militello and Giannini will resume the activity as Nadja, giving birth to the Nadja Proyect. Right after the re-issue of La Joie (Onde Italiane, 2017)and Act IV (Sunflowers Records) it’s just about time for ‘Eros’ the sought after second tape, here on vinyl for the first time.

Nadja originated in La Spezia and the name means "hope" in Russian. Active since 1980, their sound was rooted in English dark wave, however it was interpreted in an original way. In 1984 they produced their first demo cassette "La Joie", which entered the annual Reader's Poll of Rockerilla magazine. After an extensive series of contributions to different thematic compilations, always on cassette and attached to various fanzines, at the beginning of 1985 it was time fortheir second tape, "Eros", and for the vinyl anthology "CODE" with three other groups in the same area of La Spezia. Many concerts followed including those in support of the Cocteau Twins and Virgin Prunes. Following renewed interest in Italian wave of the 1980s Nadja appeared on the 2009 Spittle compilation “Crollo Nervoso” and their first tape is now released for the first time on vinyl here by Onde Italiane.

This release comes with a download code. The Stone Is Not Hit By The Sun, Nor Carved With a Knife - their first release for Gizeh Records. The Canadian/Berlin-based ambient doom duo of Aidan Baker and Leah Buckareff continue their ultra-prolific output with a monolithic record which explores the depths of heavy noisescape-related music. Encompassing distorted riffs and hypnotic rhythms the album sonically attempts to continue on from the more structured elements.
