Genre:Electronic / Dance
With the musical institution that the guitar constitutes, Golden Retriever sets out to change its paradigm with very simple means, creating a void between genres and ideas to be in, grinning in its essence yet at times grounded with serious introspective ingredients. With only an iPhone as a recording studio, Golden Retriever has created the EP in a very minimalistic sense, not only when it comes to sheer production elements but also through that instruments chosen to use.Having a background in various other scenes, you could say it's a consequence of leftover creativity and exploratory passion that didn't fit in anywhere else at the moment. The sonic palette is naive, luscious and surprisingly thick and sturdy considering the limitations of both instruments and recording equipment used. With unassailable melodies that are equally captivating as ravishing, it seduces you with the same drifter romantics and beautiful scenery as you would find in any classic country song without following the same structure.Whenever a string of the guitar is plucked, struck or touched, it invokes feelings of both adventurous joy, but sometimes also the sadness of leaving something behind.

"When I was 10 years old my father took me to a flea market in a very small city up north in Sweden, Pitea. There was a little bit of everything being sold there: Ski equipment, comics, porcelain figurines and vinyl. It was there and then I came across 'Autobahn' by Kraftwerk. The thing is, we didn't have a turntable at the house we stayed in, on those cold winter weeks so I had to wait until we came back home to give the record a proper spin. In my mind I played it several times and I thought it was amazing. I imagined it was music from the future. What I thought when I heard it for real?Didn't like it at all.The very same feeling I imagined 'Autobahn' would sound like is the one I get after listening to Ishi Vu's debut on Omena. These five tracks, you could call it an album if you like, are playful, quirky, dreamy and very addictive. Like finding a new friend you know you want to keep for a very long time. "

We've reached the end. This is as far as the story tells the final recording by the artist(s) that kickstarted the Omena LTD series with the mini-album '1' early 2015. Back in 1992, after extensive recording sessions, several releases albums that never pleased the major label and touring that led the members to become less friends and more enemies an unanimous decision led the members to put everything on hold. The final track ever recorded at Muscle Shoals Sound Studio was 'Paus' or as the late South African-born American recording engineer Phil Ramone described it - their masterpiece. Listening back to the session it's evident the band was heading in a new direction, heavily inspired by Daniel Lanois and Sonia Pottinger. The use of horns, the synth bass and the way the drummer ties everything together is exceptional. Due to the success with the two previous releases on OMLTD, the band decided to give the recording to Tooli but not only that, they also re-recorded some parts late 2014 (hence the name 141201). What you have here is something truly special and may or may not be the comeback everyone is waiting for. 150 copies only!

Genre:Electronic / Dance
Name in Lights have been organising parties, DJing, producing music and running their own label Feed for a long time. Fact is - they are kind of royalty back in Stockholm. After releasing records on Under The Shade, Free Association, Let's Play House, as well as getting remixed by Dr Dunks and Axel Boman it's now time to present two tracks on Omena. Believe it or not but the ties between Omena and Name In Lights go way back. All Inclusive is that type or track you would either start or end the night with while Post Mortem sounds like DJ Koze and Isolee would have a baby together. On this release there are two remixes which completely flip the originals.Underground hero Samo DJ is a force to be reckoned with. With recent releases on The Trilogy Tapes, Public Possession and an album on Snaker together with Maxxxbass he found time to work 'All Inclusive' into something completely new.Watch out for the end. Finally label boss Tooli delivers a remix filled with as much rhodes and conga as your heart desires.

Once referred to as "one of the best producers you haven't heard of yet" and championed by Gilles Peterson on his radio show many times, Toronto stalwart Jesse Futerman is a producer on the rise. With tracks out on fine labels such as Church (One For Falafel King) and Local Talk's OneOffs (Life Is A Gamble)Mr Futerman is making his debut on Omena.First up on this release is the title track - You Are Never Alone, a track filled with soulful loop hooks, disco strings and an added thump on the rhythm. This shimmering track is followed by Blinding Lights, an end of the night anthem. Can it really be you say? Yes, this one is every bit as blissful as you'd expect. Finally, the remix of You Are Never Alone by Guraimu is as close to a Todd Terje remix you can come without Terje remixing. It's a monstrous party cut of delightfully juicy proportions. What we got here ladies and gentlemen, is nothing short of brilliance.

incl. Auntie Flo RemixBetter known as Kemback, Geoff Wright is a Bristol based producer, selector, composer, violinist, teacher, and waiter whose music is rooted in House and Techno but often treads into the weird and wonderful worlds of Jazz, Soul, Folk, and Blues. While his gritty drums and shuffling grooves bear the hallmark of the city he now calls home, the melodic sensibility of his emotive strings and distant glimmering synths harks back to the tree-lined footpaths of the tiny Scottish village from which he takes his name. His debut release in 2014, on Bristol mainstay Futureboogie, received widespread support from DJs as diverse as Skream, Mosca, and Nemone. More recently his effort as part of Alfresco Disco's acclaimed Maximum Joy series, titled 'Awaken', has been likened to the music of artists including Floating Points and Leon Vynehall.Good Night & For You Today, the two tracks on Kemback's Omena debut, showcase a high level of production skill. To complete the package the always excellent Auntie Flo (aka Brian D'Souza) & Omena label boss Tooli take turns in remixing Good Night.

Release:2015 / EU – Original
Genre:Electronic / Dance
After seducing people around the world with the future classic 'Into The Sun' on Local Talks OneOffs label and footwork anthems on 'Don't Believe' released on Studio Barnhus it's now time to present 'Daybreak' or as Tooli described the track the first time he heard it "It's like listening to 'Deep Burnt' Part 2". Perhaps it was the jetlag (Tooli arrived in NYC the very same day Henry sent it) or the fact that it's a straight forward deep track with lush strings and no fuzz included. It's up to you to decide. For remix duties label boss Tooli was brave enough to have a go himself and recorded some piano chords and strings. On the flip is where the real magic happens - Parkway Records head honcho Mark Seven, considered by many as a DJ's DJ and mighty fine producer, delivers a remix that takes you on a journey and a half. It's deep, got tons of percussions and lures you into afro territory. If Body and Soul was still around this one would peak on a Sunday afternoon.

The debut release, Baltic Rim, will be out at the end of April and contains two tracks, Kaiju Stomp & Striker Eureka. Remixes by Polish super stars The Phantom & Jaromir aka Ptaki and Omena label boss Tooli. If you ever wanted a record that combines exotic rhythms with your favourite sunset chords, dervish basslines and snake charming melodies then this release is for you. As always, the very talented Ivo Kiusalaas has provided the label art.

After dancing with HNNY under the disco ball and staying up late listening to Mella Dee's warehouse tracks it's time to go visit Detroit with Esa. Have a listen to Umatic 3000 and you'll understand why Tooli started sweating while listening to the demo the first time. Futuristic and deep dance music from a space ship that crashed somewhere in Detroit. 8/8 (Son Op) on the flip is a dramatic interlude that leads straight into Big Snoek, a track that both sounds and smells like a modern Global Communication tribute.
