Paraboot Shoes Men
Starting out as a tailor for a shoe workshop in his home village of Izeaux at the foot of the French Alps, Rémy-Alexis Richard soon developed a taste for business and moved to Paris with his shoes. Success came quickly, so that in 1908 he employed his own staff and just two years later founded the Richard-Pontvert company to market high-quality footwear under the brand name Chaussures Extra. In 1920, he bought his first factory in Izeaux to better manage manufacturing, and as early as 1922, he registers the patent of the Galibier brand, specializing in work boots. On a trip to the United States in 1926, Richard discovers the advantages of rubber and, upon his return, starts producing waterproof boots, followed by vulcanized soles, which results in significantly improved walking comfort. In 1927, Rémy Richard registered the brand name Paraboot. After World War 2, the founder’s son, who had joined the company in the meantime, succeeds in reorienting Paraboot, not least thanks to the switch to shoes with solid soles and thick leather for workers. For the time being, tradition is maintained, but since the eighties at the latest, urban design elements have been incorporated, making the high-quality footwear a must-have for city dwellers with a soft spot for timeless footwear.
