Pino Donaggio’s soundtrack for CORRUZIONE AL PALAZZO DI GIUSTIZIA is a work of many qualities. Donaggio creating romantically laced cues that are played alongside dramatic and taught sounding compositions. This score was written in 1974 before the composer had really established his “sound” but nevertheless the music has great character and contains some interesting orchestrations and arrangements. this is a work that will delight and probably surprise a number of film music fans. It’s an odd thing that many collectors of Italian film music often forget or side step the works of Donaggio, maybe this is due to the composers involvement with many horror movies and his use of a number of atonal or action cues, as opposed to melodic or romantic sounding compositions. The Maestro combines traditional Italian sounding motifs and musical passages with his own compositions and arrangements creating a rewarding and at times amusing listen. Composer Pino Donaggio teamed with filmmaker Brian DePalma to forge one of the most memorable collaborations in cinema history, writing a series of suspenseful, hauntingly atmospheric scores evoking Bernard Herrmann's landmark work for Alfred Hitchcock. Born Giuseppe Donaggio in Venice, Italy, on October 24, 1941, he was the product of a family of musicians, and began studying violin at the age of ten.

In a small village in Emilia, pastor Don Camillo (Terence Hill) and Communist Mayor Peppone (Colin Blakely) are from opposing political factions and are invaluable friend/enemies. They clash at every opportunity, which often ends up in a fight - as in the case of the football game played by teams which they had trained. Obviously the mayor is not happy with Don Camillo's behavior and threatens to transfer him to a remote mountain village. This is a remake of the movie Don Camillo (1952) by Julien Duvivier. It was Terence Hill’s first time behind the camera and he wanted to make the action between Don Camillo and Peppone take on a more modern feel, which better suited his style. The story is set in recent times, with a more sporty priest (he skates in the church), and embellished with classic fist-fights (as in the football game scene). There are also some small cameos by famous Italian ex- footballers, including Roberto Boninsegna, Roberto Pruzzo, Luciano Spinosi and Carlo Ancelotti. Ancelotti was a soccer player for A.S. Roma and former coach of teams such as Juventus, Milan, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid. He is now the current coach of Bayern Munich.

Waxwork Records proudly presents the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack vinyl to the 1973 British-Italian Thriller, DON’T LOOK NOW. Directed by Nicolas Roeg and featuring Pino Donaggio’s very first effort as a film music composer, Don’t Look Now tells the story of a married couple (Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie) who travel to Venice, Italy for work following the recent accidental drowning-death of their daughter. The couple encounter two sisters, one of whom claims to be clairvoyant and informs them that their daughter is attempting to contact them to warn them of danger. The classic film dives deep and focuses on the psychology of grief and it’s effect on relationships while blending elements of the supernatural with vivid, impressionist imagery of flashbacks, colors, patterns, and editing techniques that have been known to alter even the viewer’s perception of what is actually occurring.

Waxwork Records is beyond excited to present the complete score by Pino Donaggio (Carrie, The Howling, Tourist Trap) on deluxe 180 gram vinyl with high quality packaging. Features include 180 gram “Red Raincoat” colored vinyl, old style tip-on gatefold jackets, printed inserts, and all new artwork by Jessica Seamans of Landland.

Nicolas Roeg's 1973 horror film Don't Look Now still retains the power to shock 44
years after its release and over that time has established itself as a seminal work in that
genre. Julie Christie and Donald Sutherland are a married couple mourning the death of
their young daughter, clinging on to her memory through a meeting with a mysterious
psychic in Venice. Native Venetian composer Pino Donaggio was discovered by a
producer on the film and his music appealed to director Roeg. It became his debut film
score, launching a long career and a close working relationship with Brian De Palma. Many
of the instruments in this recording were played by the composer himself. As well as
writing soundtracks, Donaggio wrote Dusty Springfield's chart-topping hit "You Don't
Have To Say You Love Me" (originally a hit in Italian as "Io Che Non Vivo") The cover
was the winning design by artist Benio Urbanowicz in a competition organised by
Creative Review and BFI Publishing for the 20th anniversary edition of the BFI Film
Classics book on the film.
