Formed in Cape Cod, Massachusetts in 1978 by longstanding friends Clif Hanger (aka Clif Croce) on vocals and Rob DeCradle (aka Rob Rosenthal) on rhythm guitar, east coast punk band The Freeze had a fluctuating line-up in its early days, perhaps reflecting the band’s experimental tendencies which saw it veer from straight-up thrash-based hardcore to more melodic, contemplative work. Debut single “I Hate Tourists” saw Hanger and DeCradle joined by bassist Rick Andrews, with Kevin Vicha on “drums noise,” Papa Verjen (aka Steve Wood) on “lead guitar noise” and Scott Woodless on “synthesizer noise.” Subsequent EP “Guilty Face,” issued by Boston’s Modern Method Records in 1983, saw Hanger, DeCradle and Andrews working with guitarist Bill “Lunchmeat” Close and drummer Lou Cataldo, and by the time that the group was preparing the debut album, Land Of The Lost, released by Modern Method the same year, the line-up had solidified with Andrews replaced by Ron Cormier, who co-wrote “No Exposure” and “Pig Hunt.” Most of the LP’s tracks are standard hardcore, but songs like “Food Lava” and “Nazi Fun” display more schizoid leanings, beginning as slow jazz jams before shifting to double-hardcore timing; “Duh Family” and “American Town” parody idealized visions of small-town America. One of the most criminally underrated American 80's punk classics back on vinyl. Limited 500, hand numbered Orange Vinyl edition, includes double sided lyric insert.

Bob Marley and The Wailers are the most legendary figures to emerge from Jamaican popular music, a trio of icons that brough reggae to the broader public consciousness and helped the Rastafari faith to spread outside of their native island. Robert Nesta Marley, Peter McIntosh and Neville O’Riley Livingston, AKA Bunny Wailer, are responsible for our understanding of reggae music itself, as well as the now-global movement of Rastafari consciousness and the general popular culture of Jamaica in a way unlike that of any of their peers. This retrospective on their 70's production, packed in a collectable double vinyl set, provide a tantalizing glimpse of the international stardom that would soon be achieved by the group, charting some particularly fertile and evolutionary phases of their formative years. Limited double LP on color vinyl, one green and one red vinyl, comes with extensive liner notes by David Katz, out for Record Store Day 2020

Release:1981 / EU
Genre:Rock / Indie
Post-punk duo Second Layer was formed in London in 1979 by southpaw guitarist/vocalist Adrian Borland and bassist/keyboardist Graham Bailey, who would both gain greater fame in the somewhat more mainstream act, The Sound; Borland has previously been active in Wimbledon punk trio The Outsiders, which released two albums and an EP on their own Raw Edge label before disbanding. Second Layer’s heavily synthesized and dystopian ‘cold wave’ sound first surfaced on a couple of EPs, issued on their own Tortch label, and when debut album World Of Rubber was released on Cherry Red in 1981, it was a very different beast indeed, being far more abstract, the minimal instrumentation masking occasional morbid lyrics about “Black Flowers,” bodies in an open grave and, on “In Bits,” the disintegrating personality of Borland’s protagonist; “Japanese Headset” subjected an unknown foreign soundtrack to stereophonic effects. Since The Sound signed with major label WEA shortly after the released of World Of Rubber, the album ended up being Second Layer’s swansong, making it all the more sought after today.

Release:2020 / EU
Genre:Rock / Indie
Controversial glam act New York Dolls were the epitome of rock ‘n’ roll excess, prefacing the rough edges of punk. Formed in late 1971 and initially known as Actress, the earliest incarnation featured bassist Arthur Kane, guitarist Rick Rivets and the guitarist that would become Johnny Thunders, with drummer Billy Murcia and singer David Johansen; soon, Rivets was replaced by Egyptian-born Sylvain Sylvain. Decked out in androgynous clothing, including platform boots, lipstick and body stockings, The Dolls toured England in 1972, which was ruptured by Murcia’s tragic alcohol-and-drugs-related death, bringing Jerry Nolan into the group. Signing to Mercury, they issued a self-titled debut, followed by Too Much Too Soon, but disappointing sales saw Mercury drop them. Live At Radio Luxembourg was recorded in December 1973 and features hot live versions of songs from these two seminal studio albums; with plenty of banter delivered in cod-French accents between the tracks, the set reveals the group in their prime, their no-limits attitude taking the form of raucous guitar riffs, shouted vocals, crashing drums and driving bass, and in addition to classic Dolls like “Puss N Boots” and “Jet Boy,” there are some blues references too.

Influential independent label Posh Boy helped the southern California punk scene to gain traction in the late 70s and early 80s through a series of releases by then-unknown bands. The legendary 1979 compilation Beach Blvd referenced Route 39, a highway that connected the label’s various artists, located in suburbs from Huntingdon Beach up to the San Gabriel Valley. Rosemead’s Simpletones were one of the first melodic punk acts; Huntingdon Beach’s The Crowd drew from surf rock and hardcore in equal measure, while the material credited to Rik L Rik are actually remixes of demos he cut with Negative Trend, now with bass overdubs by Simpletones guitarist Jay Lansford, who also cut lead guitar on “Atomic Lawn.” This ultra-expanded, double vinyl reissue features 17 bonus tracks of Simpletones and Crowd material, as well as live material from Rik L Rik’s first group, the legendary F-Word!, and the two only known tracks recorded by The Klan, the short-lived quartet fronted by Simpletones vocalist, Richard “Snickers” Scott.

Following the success of their hit singles “Remember (Walking in the Sand)” and the title track, The Shangri-Las, all still in their teens, released their debut album Leader Of The Pack in early 1965. With songs from Lieber & Stoller, Berry & Greenwich, The Isley Brothers, and more, this LP was absolutely THE sound of mid-60s New York City. Nary a single teen party at the time, from coast to coast, and around the globe, happened without a dance to the album’s title track. These four girls from Queens changed the landscape of pop music in the mid-60s and this album still sounds fresh over a half century later. Essential girl group pop reissued on 180 gram LP.

23 tracks spanning the Upstarts' early singles for independent labels, from the groundbreaking "The Murder of Liddle Towers" released in 1978 to the controversial "Brighton Bomb" from 1985. Along with UK chart hits "Solidarity", "Not Just a Name", "Machine Gun Kelly", "Woman in Disguise" and many others, Angelic Upstarts are one of the most iconic bands of the whole skinhead subculture. The group formed in South Shields in 1977 and are still active to this day. This double vinyl LP celebrates their more belligerent days along with their mid 80's productions, whose approach is more mature and politically challenged. A brilliant and long running UK punk group, this compilation is by far their finest music and a perfect starting point for getting into the Angelic Upstarts. Crucial.

Dennis Manuel Brown belongs to that élite band of reggae artists who have succeeded in achieving true international stardom. Often hailed today as ‘Bob Marley’s favorite singer’ Dennis Brown had managed not only to achieve elusive chart success with ‘Money In My pocket’ but has also regularly performed in the United Kingdom and Europe.

This album captures the artist at their peak of his performing ability during his considerable run of chart successes in 1979. He performed with the outstanding ‘We The People’ band made up of the cream of the Jamaican session world including Robbie Shakespeare, Sly Dunbar, and Lloyd Parkes. The tour was fraught with problems not least of which was the enormous financial burden on promoter and record company alike caused by the overheads involved in moving more than a dozen people throughout Europe and is probably best illustrated by the fact that every one of the musicians missed their flight from Kingston!

Formed on a grim council estate in Edinburgh in 1979 by singer Terry Buchan and guitarist Stevie Ross with bassist Alan Paget and drummer Andy McNiven, The Exploited became one of the most popular and notorious of all hardcore punk bands. When they signed to Secret Records in 1981 for debut LP Punks Not Dead, Terry had been replaced by his ex-soldier brother Wattie (who became group leader thereafter), with guitarist Big John Duncan, drummer Dru Stix, and bassist Gary McCormack; by the time Let’s Start A War… was released, the group featured Wattie’s brother Willie on drums and Billy Dunn on bass, while Horror Epics had Wayne Tyas on bass and Karl ‘Egghead’ Morris on guitar. That same line-up is featured on Live At The Whitehouse, a riveting and lengthy performance recorded in Washington DC in April 1985; highlights includes the opening “Let’s Start A War,” dedicated to Argentina, a swear-ridden “God Save The Queen,” a take of “Rival eaders” aimed at Reagan and Thatcher, “I Hate You” (with a reverse Jello Biafra reference), a castigating “Daily News” aimed at fanzine Maximum Rock n Roll, and a rousing “Punks Not Dead” encore.

Xenofobia is by far the most iconic of the Mexican hardcore bands that emerged during the late 1980s, their base in the nation’s capital city placing them in a hotbed of the local scene (though there were also acts in places with greater proximity to the US border, such as Tijuana and the Yucatan peninsula). Their impossibly rare debut 7-inch EP “Muerte En Amercia” was released in minute quantities by the group in 1987 on a self-released seven-inch with a graphic picture sleeve, featured bassist/songwriter Hnos David Varela and his brother Jorge (aka “El Igor”) on drums, with guitarist Raul “El Perro” and lead singer Miguel El Charro, the production shared between Hnos Varela and Eleazar Betancourt (who would later work with Mexican rock band Liran’ Roll, AKA The Blues Boys). Chaotic political hardcore at its rawest peak, reissued for the first time since 1987 in a mere 500 copies, with a limited edition of 50 copies only on white vinyl, from the unstoppable archival punk machine at Radiation reissues.

Destroy All Monsters began life as an experimental rock group in early ‘70s Ann Arbor, the brainchild of University Of Michigan art school weirdos Mike Kelley, Jim Shaw, and Niagara (Lynn Rovner), and filmmaker Cary Loren. Following many incarnations, lineup changes, and the breakup of Niagara and Loren’s romantic relationship, the group solidified in the late ‘70s around Niagara on vocals, and Detroit legends Michael Davis of The MC5 on bass, and The Stooges’ Ron Asheton on guitar. Though they never released a proper album, the group’s singles are certified punk classics and the band has since achieved massive cult status, counting Sonic Youth among their legion of fans. Radiation Reissues is pleased to present their first three singles in limited editions of 500 copies each on color vinyl for RSD 2019.

The Germs are one of the most legendary and venerated of all Los Angeles hardcore punk bands. The roots of the group stemmed from the meeting of two minds at an alternative school in the late 1970s, when future vocalist Jan Paul Beahm, AKA Darby Crash, met guitarist George Ruthenberg, AKA Pat Smear, the latter a reformed Jesus freak. Spearheading the west coast hardcore scene, the band burst into public consciousness with an explosive performance at The Whisky in 1977 (introduced by future Go Go Belinda Carlisle and Kroq disc jockey Rodney Bingenheimer), with Crash (then known as Bobby Pyn) and Smear joined by bassist Lorna Doom and drummer Donna Rhia, this line-up featuring on debut single, “Forming.” Crash’s rambling, sneering and often sarcastic vocals were the perfect foil to Smear’s superfast thrash-guitar licks, and Smash was a dynamic frontman too, despite his volatile personality. After borrowing Weirdos drummer Nicky Beat for the “Lexicon Devil” single, debut album GI, incongruously produced by Joan Jett of The Runaways, saw the introduction of Arizona-born drummer Nicky Bolles. The band’s revered status and early innovation kept them on top of the LA punk scene heap, yet Crash ended up overdosing on heroin in December 1980, his death an apparent suicide. After releasing solo material in the late 1980s, in 1992 Smear was asked to replace John Frusciante in The Red Hot Chili Peppers but opted to join Nirvana instead, his presence there sparking the Germs revival that yielded the outtakes and live rarities set, Cats Clause, which includes rare live material from the Hong Kong Café, as well as material from Crash’s final concert at the Starwood in 1980, and more rare material, all accompanied by a lavish gatefold sleeve and a printed inner sleeve with rare photos and other memorabilia. Also included a 60x60cm poster!

Limited 500, Comes With Full Reproduction Of The Three Original Inserts In A Poster Insert! Southern Los Angeles experimental punk band Mood of Defiance was formed in Hermosa Beach in 1981, spinning off from a short-lived synthesizer project called Kindled Imagination, formed in nearby San Pedro (home to The Minutemen) with drummer Richie Wilder of Saccharine Trust. Teenaged lead singer and band originator Rachel Morgan, who was known as “Screaming Bitch Rachel” and later, Hatha Watha, formed MOD with Wilder, recruiting initial guitarist TA Black and bassist Kevin Ball from a music press advertisement. Debut demo recordings (eventually issued as In A Box) featured this line-up but after Black and Ball quit the band, they were replaced by Danny Dean Philips and Gary Kail from the band Anti, moonlighting in this side project for debut album Now, released on Philips’ and Kail’s aptly-titled New Underground label in 1982; other band members featured on the disc include drummer Thaddeus. Opener “Divided States Of America” set the disc’s defiant punk tone, though “Sticky Lips” and “Girl In A Painting” are less caustic, with broader musical dexterity and post-punk rhythmic references. An important piece of southern Calfornia punk history back on vinyl after 38 years.

Blitz were among the most influential punk bands ever. It was Gary Bushell (who wrote for "Sounds" and was later dubbed the 'Godfather of Oi!') who brought the band to the attention of his friend Chris Berry, who had just set up No Future records with a bank loan and high hopes. No Future 001 (and Blitz's debut release) was a 4-track EP titled All Out Attack, a 20,000-copy bestseller that made the label's fortune, later to become the most representative of the whole UK82 movement. Its follow-up, Never Surrender, reached number 2 on the Indie charts, while their 3rd EP, Warriors, showed their slight move towards the sing-a-long style of classic Oi! Recorded live at the legendary Lyceum in London in April of 1982, just after the release of their second 7" (with a few tracks from the Skunx club in Islington recorded a few weeks later) this is the band at their absolute live peak. Crucial UK OI! recorded live, the way the genre was meant to be heard, with a beer in one hand and the other with a fist in the air. Blazing and brutal and classic UK82.

Originally released in 1985, this is the sole album by Tony Cadenas' own THE ABANDONED, the band he formed after the ADOLESCENTS original break up in 1981. Sounding a lot like Tony's original band but with an heavier GERMS' influence, and a more metallic, darker, almost motorhead-esque touch.
As long as Adolescents got back on track, right before releasing their mid 80's comeback masterpiece 'Brats In Battalions' this obscure page of California punk rock history got completely forgot and never reopened until today. A band that really pushed the boundaries for the time while sticking to their roots, something most bands were not able to do. A must for all California Punk Rock maniacs out there!

Plasmatics were founded in 1977 when Wendy O. Williams responded to manager, artist, provocateur, and punk rock scenester Rod Swenson’s casting call in the pages of Show Business Weekly for his theater show, Captain Kink's Sex Fantasy Theater. By 1978 they had recruited a full band and were performing regularly at CBGB’s, where they quickly rose from playing once a week to performing two sold out shows a night during regular four night a week runs. Their provocative and wild live show - which often involved nudity and chain-sawed guitars – bridged the gap between punk rock and performance art. They quickly became notorious up and down the east coast and were signed to the legendary Stiff Records, who released their debut album in 1980. A perfect blend of punk, new wave, and metal sensibilities, with Wendy’s tough, guttural drawl taking center stage, New Hope for the Wretched is a classic piece of first wave New York City punk rock lovingly back in print on LP from Radiation Reissues.

Recorded in Hollywood in a mere three days at the end of 1982 - oddly enough aided by the presence of Joe Strummer who was in the studio the first day of recording - Defy the System is California punk group ANTI's second album, considered by most to be at least as astonishing as their debut. Partly played by John Carthy from Alley Cats on Drums, and originally released on the New Underground label, this was the second and last chapter in ANTI's history, right before singer Danny Dean went on to form his later band EASTER with Social Distortion's Mike Ness on guitar. This is pure early '80s California punk rock in the vein of BAD RELIGION or T.S.O.L. An absolute masterpiece now represented on vinyl, with original artwork and insert, for the first time in 35 years.

Part of the late '70s/early '80s HC/punk explosion out of the Los Angeles area, where bands like Black Flag, Circle Jerks, Minutemen, and Bad Religion originated from, ANTI formed in 1979 by a then teenage Danny Phillips, better known as Danny Dean, who was the bassist / guitarist and first original vocalist, primary songwriter, and sole continuous member throughout multiple lineup changes during the past 40 years. Their 1982 debut album,I Don't Want To Die In Your War, was recorded and mixed by legendary producer and sound engineer for Black Flag and Descendents, SPOT. It is a major example of California Hardcore from the early 80's. Despite having been completely underrated, ANTI's 1982 debut paved the way for a lot of California punk to come. Available again for the first time after almost four decades on its original format, with its original artwork and complete with insert thanks to Radiation Records.

Originally released in 1981, this is the 4th EP from legendary British hardcore group Discharge and it's perhaps their most famous and widely regarded recording. A blistering 10 tracks clocking in at around 15 minutes total, Why? reached #1 on the UK indie charts which, when listening today, seems like a miraculous feat for such a brutal and revolutionary sound. Discharge paved the way for '80s crust and thrash punk and literally have a genre of punk named after their unique rhythmic approach and the dozens of imitators it spawned, "D-beat"; this EP, along with the classic debut album, Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing (RRS90), are the most essential items in their catalog. True punks must get this!

Formed in 1979 near Bristol, Chaos UK are a classic group of the early '80s British hardcore scene who released several records on the legendary 2nd wave of British punk label, Riot City Records. Flogging The Corpse is an amazing archival release collecting previously unreleased tracks and 10 great live cuts recorded in 1983, the same year as the band's debut release. Brutal and unrelentingly fast hardcore from one of the greatest groups of the UK scene.

Resistance 77 are an Oi! and street punk group originating in Nottingham in 1980 and still going strong today, with their latest album released in 2015. Originally released in 1984, Thoroughbred Men is their first proper album, full of sloppy catchy riffs, anthemic vocals, and pounding rhythms. Influenced heavily by first wave Oi! groups like Cock Sparrer and Sham 69, and released on the punk group Riot Squad's Rot Records, this is an obscure and smoking piece of Oi! history never before reissued on LP.

One of the longest standing punk groups in history, Peter & The Test Tube Babies are still going strong today, with 2018 marking their 40th anniversary. The Loud Blaring Punk Rock LP is their 4th LP, originally released in 1985, is the epitome of childish, unrefined, and perfect punk rock and roll. With such deep, poetic titles as "We're Too Drunk", "Pick Yer Nose (And Eat It)", "Beat Up The Mods", you know what you're getting here; drunken, stupid, sloppy, and absolutely perfect UK punk.

Raw, violent and catchy, Blitz's 1982 debut album sounded like a shot of pure rock and roll through the violence of the English working class. Made up by two punks and two skinheads, with a lot to say about violence and football, Blitz appealed to all kinds of lowlifes, who finally had a voice for their generation. Reissued on 180 gram vinyl with a faithful reproduction of the original inner sleeve.

Founded in 1982, the CRACK didn't release their debut album until 1989. These British punkers were often tied into the Oi! scene of the mid-80s along with Cockney Rejects, and The Business, they had more in common with the melodic punk stylings of 999 and mod groups like The Jam or Secret Affair. Featuring a blistering wall of guitars and biting melodies, from the classic album opener "My World" to the raw closer "The Giddy House" The Crack deliver ten fantastic original tunes that, while firmly rooted in 1980s UK anthemic punk, also features a pop sensibility that presages the oncoming Brit-pop scene that would absolutely dominate the '90s. Seriously, we'd bet the farm that the young Gallagher brothers were blasting this back in 1989. Absolutely essential 1980s UK punk that bridges the gap between 80s OI! and the Brit-pop/power-pop revival. Killer.

One of the best kept secrets of 80's California Hardcore Punk, TARGET OF DEMAND hailed from Long Beach and only released this 10-track smasher on the small Happy Hermit label and a couple compilation tracks before disbanding. Due to their very short existence as a band, and the fact that they were much more influenced by Teen Idles or SS Decontrol and the sounds coming out of Boston and the Midwest, rather than what was going on in California at the time, this incredibly ripping U.S. hardcore mayhem hasn’t been reissued until today.
Remastered by California punk legend GEZA X, from the original analog tapes, this is 100% pure American hardcore from 1983. RIYL: Black Flag, Poison Idea, Minor Threat, early Suicidal Tendencies. Limited edition of 500 copies, 400 on black vinyl and 100 on ORANGE/WHITE splatter vinyl, with original artwork and double sided lyrics insert.

Limited Edition for Record Store Day 2018! Well, this is not the same DISCHARGE that we all know and love. Technically it’s the same band, but it sounds completely different. As the title states, this LP is their early demo recordings from March – June, 1977. If you’ve never heard this, and someone played it at a party, you would never guess who it is. No, this is not the raging D-beat hardcore that we’re all accustomed to. The punk on this record is so ’77 that it’s almost ridiculous, very much a product of its time. The music is extremely basic, very simple, very primitive, and completely callow. It doesn’t have the political, anti-war out rage either, instead we have songs with titles like; ‘I Don’t Care’, ‘Acne’, ‘I love Dead Babies’, and ‘Sweet Suburban Dreams’. And if the lyrical content wasn’t enough to convince you that this is actually a lost SEX PISTOLS demo, then the vocal style, which sounds strikingly similar to Johnny Rotten, will. There is no list of members who played on these demos, so I have no idea how many of the members went on to be in the later incarnations of DISCHARGE. The whole record screams of the early days of young, snotty, pissed off punks filled with teen angst. I guess if you’re a huge DISCHARGE completist, you should pick this up, or if your really into the raw, primal ’77 punk sound. Limited edition of 500 hand numbered copies for RSD 2018.

Formed in Philadelphia in 1974 Pure Hell were the first all African-American punk band. The band was a huge influence on Bad Brains, friends with the New York Dolls, and shared a stage with Sid Vicious, but due to management issues were only able to release this one single before breaking up in 1978. The single and their one unreleased album, which has finally seen the light of day, show that Pure Hell were not only ground breaking for their skin color but for their snotty and gritty post-glam punk sound. Another classic American KBD single from Radiation Reissues.

Blasting out of the north of London in 1980, Infa-Riot (short for the term "in for a riot") perfectly encapsulated the youthful working class angst of the nascent OI! scene and were peers with early groups like The Angelic Upstarts, 4 Skins, and The Business - two of which were their label mates at the legendary Secret Records. After releasing a few compilation tracks their very first stand-alone single "Kids of The 80s" shot all the way to number 2 on the UK charts. Infa-Riot were a big part of the UK sound of 1981-1982 and this collection compiles their classic singles and ripping compilation tracks and is an essential addition to any true UK OI! and punk collection.

Formed in the late '70s at the same high school that spawned L.A. legends T.S.O.L., Rhino 39 had an unfortunate fate. After releasing one of the most legendary singles of the L.A. scene on Dangerhouse in 1979 - which included a track ("Prolixin Stomp") that is considered by many to be one of the earliest examples of L.A. hardcore - the lead singer, Dave Dacron, died in a car accident in April of 1980. His younger brother took over lead singing duties and though it took another 6 years for their self-titled debut LP to be released, it still sounds like classic early '80s L.A. punk. A legendary band with a long forgotten classic LP finally back in print on Radiation Deluxe. Limited to 500 copies on 180 gram vinyl.

It is impossible to overstate the significance of The Crowd to the nascent L.A. hardcore scene. Whilst bands like early Agent Orange and Social Distortion were playing to handfuls of fans in northern Orange County, in 1979 the Crowd were already filling backyards on their home turf in Huntington Beach, California. Ironically, it was further afield in the San Gabriel Valley that I first saw them perform, opening for the still punk Go-Gos in a small club. Without the continuing success of The Crowd in 1979 and throughout the summer of 1980, I would have packed my bags for London. Instead, the L.A. hardcore scene lifted off!
