Genre:Rock / Indie
Smooth continues his ascent with the ‘Resurrection EP’ on RAM Records, featuring four fresh cuts to add to an already stellar succession of releases. First from the new batch of records is ‘Trajectory’, a steppy, snapping whirlpool of clattering bass rhythms and fluctuating note patterns. It pulls you into Smooth’s dreamy soundscape, whilst still channelling a bassline which pulsates steadily underneath each flurry of beats. Up next comes ‘Disco’, with a more cascading, jazzy appeal, one which gradually builds into uplifting pads and clattering drums, helping to flesh-out the composition. ‘Disco’ points to Smooth’s streamlined musicality, which features a huge repertoire of sound. ‘Device’ follows with a cinematic intro, which begins to grow steadily on a quick succession of sonic stabs and heavyweight drums. Amongst old-school breaks and rattling percussion sitting underneath the mix, the track is tribal yet crunches with grinding LFO. It’s fierce in its delivery and channels more contemporary production standards. ‘My Feeling’ finishes the EP on a completely different vibe, drawing out keyed arpeggios and elevating synths. Smooth flexes his creativity one more time before the Resurrection’s close, stringing together shimmery vocals and an emphatic climax. Alongside its predecessors, ‘My Feeling’ gives the perfect end to a stellar release. One welcomed by RAM’s decorated history.

Genre:Electronic / Dance
Time and time again Stealth continues to pay homage to the underground and this forthcoming single will be no different. Take You There opens the lighter side of Stealth’s discography, a liquid roller which plays on its vocals to draw out melodic undertones. Then comes The Ladder, more reminiscent of the genre’s darker roots and providing a contemporary twist on the murkier borders which separate the old and the new school. Colossal breaks and low grinding bass filters throughout the mix, manifesting a sub shaker thatreverberates across the composition’s entirety. Stealth takes you on a journey, one which reignites your love for the early 2000s but ends in the more modern sounds which represent the high-levels shown across today’s scene. And it’s for this reason Stealth has been enlisted in the RAM ranks. Stealth’s output doesn’t stop at this release. With a schedule planned for 2017 and a debut LP lying on the horizon, he’s back with the standard which originally made him so infamous.

Chords has often been heralded as one of the most musically gifted artists on the Ram Records roster and having begun his journey via classical training as a child, it’s no surprise why his sounds are so technically impressive. Influenced by everything from soul to hip hop, his eclectic tastes shine through each one of his offerings, helping him to have a unique take on the 170bpm drum & bass genre. ‘Love Burning’ and ‘Clarion’ present two juxtaposing records which hint at Chords’ vast production repertoire. ‘Love Burning’ rolls out on old-school breaks, metallic pads and a winding, undiluted bassline, ebbing and flowing between carefully picked piano notes. ‘Clarion’ is darker in tone, dropping into crunching LFO and weighty bass patterns. It’s a side of Chords’ which was previously unseen, although with a whole collection of records waiting to be released, you’re likely to see more of it in the coming months.Chords is back and weightier than ever.
