79.5 is the sound of New York City. The Brooklyn-based band has announced their forthcoming self-titled album on Razor-N-Tape. Soulful and psychedelic, the new collection’s masterful melodies may be hard to categorize, from 70’s underground disco to acid jazz to sugary sweet pop. Its very existence is a protest of the old boy’s club in the music industry. And, a personal triumph against all odds, while illuminating the most beautiful collaboration between friends. Current lineup includes singer, songwriter and composer Kate Mattison, singer and rapper Lola Adanna, drummer Caito Sanchez (Charles Bradley, Lee Fields), bassist Andrew Raposo (Midnight Magic, Hess Is More) and sax player + flautist Izaak Mills.

As bassist for dance-punk outfit The Rapture, Mattie Safer cut his teeth in the music scene alongside a wave of now-legendary early 2000s NYC acts like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, LCD Soundsystem and more (a time period recently immortalized in the documentary film ‘Meet Me In The Bathroom.’) Fast-forward nearly 2 decades and Mattie has found the sweeter side of dance music as the current lead vocalist for slo-mo kings Poolside, and now he presents his solo lovetempo project on Razor-N-Tape.

A chilled-out singer/songwriterly affair, the lovetempo EP moves between organic laidback disco, modern bossa nova treatments, and Sade-esque grown-n-sexy jazz grooves. Hitting notes of both melancholy and positivity, Mattie’s plaintiff vocals wind through all 4 of the original songs, delivering catchy and singable hooks. RNT regular Yuksek does what he does best, and takes the most uplifting tune of the pack into positively joyous hands-in-the-air territory with a stunning remix.

RNT takes a trip south with some fresh modern takes on a pair of Colombian tropicalia classics from the 1970s! Sisters Elia and Elizabeth Fleta recorded some of the most beloved rare groove from Baranquilla’s early-70s period, and when Jaime Tuiran (Vagabundo Club Social) brought the project to label owners Aaron Dae and JKriv, they jumped at the opportunity to work with such rarefied source material. On the A side, the mysterious newcomer producer Demi Riquisimo crafts a synth-laden tropical opus of a remix of Elia y Elizabeth’s signature hit 'Alegria' and the ever solid Parisian Yuksek works the tune into a concise and mid tempo disco stomper. On the flip, Bostonian-come-Colombian Bosq turns 'Soy Una Nube' into an uptempo soul banger, and Baranquilla natives Vagabundo Club Social lend their homegrown organic and clubby style to their mix of 'Alegria'. The perfect blend of earthy OG soul with modern and musical production, this record is as colorful and vibrant as the streets of Baranquilla during Carnaval. And RNT is throwing in a 7Inch with solid new masters of the original songs on heavyweight wax, to boot!

Holy Grail Alert!!! Following on 2021’s massive reboot of Midnight Magic’s seminal classic Beam Me Up, Razor-N-Tape have now unearthed a bit of NYC indie disco history with 'I Found Love.' Although recorded over 10 years ago in Midnight Magic’s nascent early period that produced many of their legendary hits, the song never received an official release; until now it has been heard only by select ears and lucky concert-goers. The package comes with a grip of luminous remixes by Dimitri From Paris & DJ Rocca, Sophie Lloyd, Perel, some solicited at the time of recording and some brand new, but all exceptionally fresh!

RNT welcomes upstart Londoner Cody Currie into the roster with the groove-heavy Movin' Smoke EP.

A precociously well-developed production talent, the young producer puts his penchant for deep house sample-scapes on full display here.

Ranging from low-slung Balearic grooves, to driving left-field funk and urgent up-tempo backbeats, the record is a fine-tuning of the US sound, complete with their signature flute and synth soundscapes, driving percussion, and catchy offbeat vocal hooks.

On the B-side, RNT mainstays Nenor and Clive From Accounts take two of the tunes into clubbier territory, with a pair of remixes primed for the dance floor.

For their first VA outing Razor-N-Tape have assembled the big guns for an all-exclusive comp. This vinyl sampler features 4 standout tracks from the compilation, and boasts an all-original tracklist by a roster of luminaries from the RNT family - past, present, and future.

It’s party time on the A side, with Dimitri from Paris & DJ Rocca teaming up for Days of A Better Paradise, a stomping, piano-driven, classic house belter. Saucy Lady takes us straight to the disco with Passport to My Love, a soulful, vocal boogie-funk journey into the cosmos.

The B Side features two lower-tempo house jams by RNT artists Misiu & Clive From Accounts. Love Me Do turns a classic melody into a spooky late night anthem, while It’s Not That I Don’t Care brings jazz riffs & bouncy baselines to the downtempo slow-burner.

Razor-N-Tape co-founder JKriv delivers a trio of all-original cuts on his Something Else EP, bringing together a cast of featured hometown Brooklyn talent to center dynamic songwriting with club-ready vibes. On the A1 title track, a playful funk-laden bassline lays the foundation for an explosive hook and soaring vocal performance from Brandon Markell Holmes. Dynamic live instrumentation take center stage in the soulful Try Again, which builds to an anthemic peak as guests Nic Hanson and Phenomenal Handclap Band intone the song’s hopeful message. On the flip, the laid-back boogie groover Shoulda Been Me slow-burns with heavy bass, percussive rhythms, and serene synth-work to support the layered vocal textures by Toribio (of Conclave). Detroit legend Alton Miller takes the tune in a classic soulful deep house direction, with a bouncing rhodes pattern revolving over solid drums, and showcasing Toribio’s vocal prowess in a new light.

RNT pushes the boundaries of their ever-expanding Reserve imprint once again, bringing the tropical soul of Fatnotronic into the fold. A sprawling 12 Inch + bonus 7 Inch pack, ONDE ANDA spans a range of equatorial flavor, showing the Sao Paulista duo's knack for bringing just the right touch of today to classic and obscure Brasilian sounds of the past. The absolute Don of Italo piano house, Don Carlos brings his legendary sound to RNT with an EP of classic floor fillers. Don (Carlo Troya) and S-Tone (Stefano Tirone) released two records on Bologna label Calypso in the early 90s under the artist name Montego Bay. Incredibly, the four tracks on this EP were also produced 30 years ago, then shelved and forgotten about until recently when a connection with RNT inspired to Don dig up their rare vintage! From pumping melodic house jams like Music All Night and Waited So Long, to sampled disco house cuts Keep Dancing the Boogie and Gotta Keep Dancing, this EP is a veritable time capsule, dripping with the swag and sonics of the golden era of 90s club music.

Brazilian musician, songwriter and producer Pedro Guinu makes his debut on Razor-N-Tape with Palago, a record that speaks to the artist's relationship with hometown Rio de Janeiro, and the city’s strong connection to the roots of Brazilian music and African rhythms. Recorded live in-studio, the LP captures the qualities and sonic textures of 1970s era analog recordings, evoking the sounds of Eumir Deodato, Marcos Valle and João Donato. Characterized by tasteful arrangements, improvisations, heavy grooves, and polyrhythms, the sprawling album fuses styles and influences to create something new and unique while maintaining a link to the past.

Partnering with French label Heavenly Sweetness, Razor-N-Tape delivers the first in a series of EPs by the Brooklyn band Underground System. Showcasing the group’s dynamic global sound, the three original songs of the ‘Into The Fire EP’ range from the Afrobeat-meets-indie-disco vibe of the title track, to the raucous and instant earworm bounce of He Said, She Said, and the smolderingly sultry Desnuda.

On the B side the original material gets some heavy DJ-friendly reimagining by Detroit legend Andrés, and French don Yuksek, making this 12” both a proud musical manifesto of the new artist-centered direction of RNT, as well as a knowing nod to the label’s devoted fans on the dancefloor.

Following on last year’s standout 7” release from Diogo Strausz, RNT now reveals the incredible extended mixes of the original pair of tunes, along with a strikingly beautiful remix of the title track by the inimitable Ron Trent. Originally conceived by the Brazilian producer to be long form songs that showcased the deep musicianship of Strausz and his cohorts, extended organ and piano solos and instrumentation now stretch out in all their jazzy glory across one side of a heavyweight 180g 12”. On the the A-side, Ron Trent takes Emancipação positively interstellar, with added instrumentation and mounting percussion that builds toward a soulful and hypnotic peak, the way only he can do!

For their first ever double-LP outing Razor-N-Tape presents POOLS, with a sun-drenched and laid-back collection of tunes called Innertubes. POOLS, the moniker of Los Angeles duo Thee Mike Bee and DJ Morsecode, craft a sound that conjures up the easy going swagger and soulful grit of the left-most coast. The first two sides of original versions read like an album, perfect for a lazy Sunday rooftop BBQ with beers, bros and blunts, (although no doubt some of these gems will find their way into DJs' warm-up and boom-bap sets). Sides C & D elevate the juncture to dance floor level, with smooth and varied remixes from RNT stalwarts Luvless and DJ Vas, plus label newcomers thatmanmonkz and Junktion.

NYC leftfield disco darlings Phenomenal Handclap Band made their first appearance on RNT by way of a collab with JKriv in 2022, and now they return for an offering all their own, the Burning Bridges EP.

The title track juxtaposes riffy guitar driven funk with plaintive vocals that smack of 1970s Heart in the best way, and Prins Thomas turns the tempo knob up a few clicks and launches into an extended interstellar excursion with his remix.

On the B side the cinematic slow burner ‘It Was The Summer’ begins sparse and hazy and builds to driving peak of backbeat rhythm and an insistent vocal soliloquy. Each Other (Justin Strauss & Max Pask) then take the tune straight the rave with arpeggiated and acidic synths, recasting the haunting vocals as a modern New Wave anthem.

A collective of musicians led by Barcelona-based producer Miguel Ferre Falcon, Kokoro Disco San first appeared on the RNT radar with their 2019 Isla Fantasia release on Rocafort Records. KDS now brings their uncanny ability to capture the mood and instrumentation of classic disco and soul with the uplifting summer anthem 'Sunshine' and the Candido-esque sonic journey 'Jungle Deep.' Rounding out the EP are two remixes of the title track by label co-head JKriv, who delivers an extended acidic exploration with his Beach Burn Mix, and a bumped up yet loving treatment of the original song with his Spf76 Mix.

With previous releases on Delusions of Grandeur, Voyeurythm and more, UK producer Ben Sun delivers a gorgeous blend of deep textures that hearken back to the golden era of NY and Chicago with his Distant Messenger EP on Razor-N-Tape. On the A-side, Transmission has all the vibey goodness of an early Strictly Rhythm record, while Sable Sun scuba dives into Larry Heard territory with lush pad swells and squelching acid lines. On the flip, the emotive motion of Tremors builds through hypnotic arpeggiated synths, a slow-rolling bassline and crystalline melodies, and the record finishes in proto-house territory with the Peech Boys era Larry Levan-inspired Red Light. This EP may wear its influences on its sleeve, but it looks (and sounds) classy as hell.

Prolific Colombian producer Felipe Gordon returns to RNT to deliver his first offering in a two-EP and album project series. The records kicks off with the swingy Strings of the Afterlife, evoking classic Chez-N-Trent vibes and moves to the sultry emotive tones of The Fall of A Withered Empire. On the flip, Felipe takes us into high gear with the hypnotic looped synth groove and relentless beats of Clásico, and lets us down easy with the jazzy lilt of Julia y Luis. A truly standout EP, even for Felipe who delivers quality time and time again.

Clive From Accounts has entered the meeting! A relative newcomer to the scene, his name may conjure mundane images of faxes, spreadsheets and dull chat by the water cooler, but Mr Clive has turned in a beautifully realized 4 tracker of slick deepness for his first outing on RNT Reserve. From the epic crescendo of Tell Me, the lush and wistful vibe of Without Your Love, to the quirky sampled groove of the EP’s title track, finishing with the icey late nate breaks-meets-bass thud of Yukon, this record is Strictly Business indeed, and the best kind.

Hard to believe it’s been 3 years since Jungle Fire first graced the RNT Catalog, and now the west coast boys of summer are back with a 5-track remix EP of varied Latin soul funk vibes, reimagined by a stellar cast of remixers. On the A-side, Colombian juggernaut Felipe Gordon takes Atómico fully nuclear with a stomping bass-heavy house remix, and JKriv goes elektrik with his Elektrikossa dub that sprinkles dubbed out and acid elements over a pulsating rubbery groove. On the flip, turntablist Nu-Mark delivers a punchy breakbeat take on Atómico, Jungle Fire member Patrick Bailey goes full-on boogie vibes with his Snake In Da Bronx Dub of La Kossa, and the record winds down with the dubby halftime flavor of Samual Miles remix of Biri Biri. Whether in the open-air club, block party or rooftop, this record is the sound of summer 2021!

A new project by Dicky Trisco and JKriv, Sentimental Animals is a celebration of dancing, late night antics, and musical togetherness. This offering of all-original disco features lead singer of Brooklyn disco outfit Escort belting her heart out, and Robin Lee of Faze Action showing his muso side on guitar, bass and keys duties. Parisian disco don Yuksek turns in a burner of a mix, and on the flip there’s a proto-house inspired Basement Mix as well as another original track, the funky instrumental Loose Rules.

Razor-N-Tape Reserve presents a very special new package of remixes of the band BaianaSystem, bringing together one of Brazil’s most exciting contemporary sounds with modern dancefloor-minded production. The standout track of their 2018 LP 'O Futura Não Demora', Água is a lyrical poem to the people of their native Bahia, featuring the legendary Antonio Carlos & Jocafi, with orchestral melodies, an incendiary vocal chant, and traditional organic Brazilian rhythmic approach. On the A side, Freerange boss Jimpster delivers two exceptional takes on the song, augmenting percussion and adding synth layers to create deep and hypnotic tribal house textures within a sublime sonic soundscape. On the flip side Brazilian producer Diogo Strausz joins forces with RNT boss JKriv to highlight the symphonic and melodic elements with their vocal mix, and then go into dark and driving percussive electronic territory on their fiery dub. With stunning visual art realized by Costa Rican designer The Myno, this package is as essential and smooth as water!

Israeli producers Rabo & Snob (Eyal Rob and Ronen Sabo) join the RNT roster with the Yom Yom EP, an ex-ceptional offering of all-original clubby afro vibes. Un-earthed from recordings the duo made with singer Soma Idrissu on the trip to Ghana that spawned their previous hit Yawumna, the title track is a truly infec-tious groove and hook, masterfully crafted for maxi-mum dancefloor impact. With an extended Yom Yom dub plus two dark and clubby EP tracks, and absolutely stunning artwork, this 4-tracker is an absolute essential that won’t last long on the shelves!

The A side kicks off with ‘The Friends & Lovers Dub’ version of the title track ‘Love Is Madness’, filled with deep pulsing pads, resonating dashes of sax, crisp percussion and a bumping bassline that provides the perfect backdrop to the echoing mantra of ‘Friends... Lovers’.
Next ‘I-80’ is a wonder of shimmering arps, brooding bass tones and reverberating trumpet touches. Perfect for the early hours, entrancing dancers as it washes over the airwaves.
On the flip, Austria’s golden boy Demuja hits hard with a Kerri Chandler channeling deep house remix of ‘Love Is Madness’, centred around a pumping bass synth, sustained organs and a classic marriage of horn stabs and emotive spoken word.

Known for their spectacularly raucous live shows in their hometown Austin, Tx and around the globe, this release captures two of their groovier songs from their last album, never before released on vinyl.

Paris-come-NYC diva Adeline makes her solo debut on RNT Reserve with a future club classic! Previously known as the front woman for disco outfit Escort, Adeline has recently been coming into her own as a solo artist, crafting a distinctive and soulful sound.
Co-written and produced with Morgan Wiley of Midnight Magic, When I’m Alone is a bright and bouncey disco anthem, which feels both fresh and familiar at the same time.
NYC cohort Jacques Renault takes things to a deep and hypnotic place on his remix, while Milan’s Dirty Channels turn in a blistering disco-house treatment, and RNT co-head joins forces with Underground System’s Peter Matson for the electro-boogie vibes.

RNT savors the last bit of summer with a deep-n-sexy offering from Nebraska on the 'Usin' Me" single, out now on the Razor-N-Tape Reserve imprint. Londoner Ali Gibbs tweaks a soulful sample with signature finesse; part disco, part house…all vibes!

Aided and abetted by an electro-funk 808-heavy remix from Lovebirds, a dark and stormy take by The Revenge, and a standout slow-burning mix from DJ Nature, we can say for certain you'll be "Usin'" this record, indeed.

Veteran NYC producer and DFA regular Juan MacLean hops on the RNT wagon for a rolling EP of drum-machine driven grooves for the Reserve sub-imprint. The record starts with the peak-time stomper Fine Time, building exquisite tension and release through looped and filtered samples, and then moves on to the boogie-infused swing of Don't Stop For Nothing. Everybody Clap leads off side B with a soulful and string-laden vocal over a bouncing hi-hat-focused house arrangement, and the EP closes out on the dubbier tip with the eponymous Panic In Fort Greene Park, a synthy and smooth slow burner. All around beautifully produced and eminently playable, Señor Maclean has made himself a most welcome addition to the Razor-N-Tape family with this dynamic EP.

Nashville's dusty funkateers Magic In Threes return to RNT Reserve with a triptych of low-strung grooves, each complimented by a superlative remix.
'Chupa Cabra', a sweet soulful joint, is reimagined as a devilishly pulsating and funky burner by RNT mainstays FOUK on their remix. Parisian Patchworks takes the 70s-cop-show funk of 'Work Tapes' straight to Nigeria with a beautifully crafted highlife remix.
Finally there's 'Come On Down', reminiscent of classic Donald Byrd in the Larry Mizell days, which is beefed up and readied for the dance floor by analog wizard Lay-Far. A lovely package for listening, or bumping!

Brooklyn's Son of Sound joins hometown label Razor-N-Tape with The Dusty Files EP, a 4-tracker that embodies the gritty and driving sound of the borough.

The A-side kicks off with Your Voodo's Broken, a track that builds to mid-tempo looped perfection even before the floor-shaking bass drops, followed by the beguiling synth patterns and efficient yet driving drums of No Bullets Left.

On the flip side, Nude Jerzee eschews the bridges and tunnels and takes us straight to NJ by way of outer space, and then What Do You Feel floats us gently back to earth on a cloud of strings, electric pianos and a chugging disco beat.
