We have been waiting for Pele to crop up on a release from the footy mad Rothmans and what a time to play that hand card. Teaming up once more with his Aussie team mate Dawn Again and a first apperance from Leeds legends Clandestino. The first track from the EP 'Cobblejam' is nothing short of first class, a worthy italo, chuggy ,powerhouse that leaves absolutely nothing to the imagination. The b-side finds us with the slightly strangely named 'Woman For A Day' theres nothing strange about the track itself though . A deep and dark track that slowly drives forward into the abyss. Finishing off the record is an excellent remix from the lads over at Clandestino. Their Dessert Trance vibe brings the record together as sweetly as Pele brought together that 1970 World Cup Winning team.

After a slow start to the season Rothmans are back with their second release of 2016 and who else could this record be dedicated to than 'The Godfather of Total Football' Johan Cruyff, RIP. Another great name gone from football but never to be forgotten , a fitting tribute to the Flying Dutchman. The record itself comes from 'Dawn Again' . Not much is known about this producer other than apparently he is Australian but lives in New York and throws parties in Brooklyn. The EP itself is quite honestly one of the best things we have heard all year. No remixes this time (which is the usual format on Rothmans) just 4 pulsating underground juggernaughts , all original Dawn Again material. The First track 'Colored Pens' hit us straight away with a style that seems to have been lifted staight out of a LOTI record, this is something we have no complaints with!. This is followed on the A-side by 'The Italian' which is a slowed down chugger that does serious damage in the last few minutes. The B-side gives us a lushous smooth dance track called Plain of Jars, and the record is finished off with a real Kruyff Turn in 'Lavender' , a total curve ball filled with bass and breaks that remids us something of the remix Eddie c pulled off on Roth10. All in all something completely different from the last Rothmans records, but we are used to this by now as their season starts to unfold and really get going!!

Rothmans are back with their first release of 2016 and who better to bring in the new year than italian electropsycho's DJ Rocca & Daniele Baldelli. Of course this record would have to pay homage to an Italian great and who better than 1982 world cup hero Marco Tardelli . First up on the EP is a synth funk journey called Kratos. Rocca goes full on here and doesent hold back as he takes us on a journey of Synth wizardry and classic Italo beats. Up next is an another original from Rocca called Fonk 400 another track that could have been plucked starigt out of the golden age of Italo Disco , again Rocca is pulling no punches here. The EP is rounded off in spectacular fashion , just like Marco Tardelli's Famous world cup final celebration we have nothing short of genius with Daniele Badlelli's Electropsychomix of Kratos. Baldellie doing what he does best and taking us too another level yet again !!! After 2015 being their strongest year to date Rothmans look like they are gonna start the new season just as they eneded the last - top of the league .

Rothmans are back with their first real milestone as a label and what better way to celebrate the labels 10th record than honouring the greatest no10 of all time Diego Armando Maradona Franco. In their first 3 seasons Rothmans have developed a reputation for throwing us curve ball after curve ball, and in what has without doubt been their best season yet off the back of Roth 8's house slammer with Aimes & Brassica, to Roth 9's Acid Arab chug from Naduve & co, they have once again thrown another huge spanner in the works (feels like 1986 all over again)The Diego Maradona EP comes from Brooklyn based producer Cale Parks. Better known in the New York music scene as a professional drummer Cale has recently turned his hand to producing and off the back of some fine releases on HAKT (Have A Killer Time) , he has now found his way onto the Rothmans Teamsheet. Track 1 - The Big Bust sounds like something you might hear as the opening to an Apparat album , the sweeping synths and beautifully scored piano remind me of the first time I watched Maradona leave Beardsley and Reid for dead in the centre circle of the Azteca Stadium on a hot evening in Mexico City.Track 2- 9G steps up the pace a bit with a much more attacking Piano sound and darker synths that remind me of watching Diego charge right past Terry Butcher and storm towards the goal on that fateful night in Mexico. The record is finished off with a banging breakbeat sounding remix by the delectable Eddie C that almost replicates the same energy, and kick ,as Maradona steaming into the box and beating Shilton to score the greatest goal in World Cup history. All we can say is that Rothmans have delivered another masterclass of their own.

Rothmans are back with their 3rd release of 2014 and back in the squad is Brooklyn beat master Aimes. You might remember his substitiute appereance on Rothmans 2 alongside Fairplay & Strunz. The release plays homage to informous French defender Marius Tresor who hard nosed defending earned him a place in Pele's top 100 players of all time. He also made waves off the field with a brief singing carear but we will leave you to research that yourself!!. Back to the release and we find Aimes following on from where Ste Spandex left off with an up tempo trancy, acid belter 'Tunnel Down' . Tracks 2 lowers the tempo a little and feels a little more classic Rothmans with that Nu-Disco/Italo feel too it , a sound that served them so well through Roth 3 - 5. The remix comes in on the B side from the legendary Brassica , and he doesent pull any punches at all, the remix takes all the aspects of the origianl and weaves them into an 8min piece of original music that just keeps on giving! One of the remixes of the year from the London based wizard. Again Rothmans pull it out fo the bag in the last minute and deliver andother stella EP
