Glasgow-based soundsystem and production unit, Mungo's Hi Fi, are pleased to announce the release of new album 'More Fyah', a stunning collaboration with UK singer and MC, Eva Lazarus. Released 19th July via Scotch Bonnet Records, the album follows the success of their 2017 hook-up on the extremely popular 'Amsterdam' EP. A genre-melding masterpiece, 'More Fyah' traverses between reggae, dub, dancehall and other bass flavours. Eva seamlessly tackles every track with her unique lyrical flow and wide vocal range, matched by Mungo's infectious signature sound. From the rocksteady relick of 'Dub Be Good To Me', the ragga mash-up title track 'More Fyah', the summery riddims of 'Light As A Feather', featuring London reggae artist Kiko Bun, to the roots sampling 'Babylon Raid', featuring Jamaican reggae legend Max Romeo, Mungo's have a sound that is deeply rooted in dub and reggae's lineage, backed by the sharp, sassy and slick vocals of Eva Lazarus. Raised out of one of the most musically creative cities in the UK, Mungo's Hi Fi have made a massive contribution to Glasgow's musical story with a respectful nod to Jamaican sound system tradition. Founded in 2000, Mungo's was formed by two like-minded DJs, inspired by the free party scene but following the Jamaican tradition of King Tubby and Jah Shaka. True to reggae/dancehall's DIY ethos, they built their first sound from speakers found in a skip and began producing on an old Atari. They started inviting visiting vocalists to their regular nights in Glasgow to hold the mic and then join them in the studio. Following early recordings on London's Dubhead records, including debut album 'Mungo's Hi Fi Meets Brother Culture', they founded the Scotch Bonnet Records label in 2005. Today Mungo's Hi Fi's three DJs, Craig, Doug and Tom play all over the world, assisted by the team at Scotch Bonnet Records: all committed to spreading their philosophy of serious, seismic productions plus easy going democratic dancehall fun. Highly collaborative, they've worked on remix projects with Leftfield, Coldcut, Submotion Orchestra, Kahn and Prince Fatty in the UK to Major Lazer in the US and are currently expanding links with East African Records based in Uganda. The vocal collaborations go much further, from foundation Jamaican legends such as Sugar Minott, Ranking Joe and Johnny Clarke to contemporary artists like Charlie P, Kenny Knots, YT, Solo Banton, Parly B and Marina P. This is Eva's first full length album, having recently featured on tracks with Swindle, Zed Bias, Jus Now and Gentlemans Dub Club. A multi genre artist, she has been making waves worldwide, fresh from her first global tour which took in Panama, Dubai, Uganda, Kenya, India, Vietnam, Australia and New Zealand. Her releases include The Nextmen vs Gentleman's Dub Club 'Pound for Pound' and Benny Page 'Front Left'. She is also set to release her first solo EP later this year and has a starring role in 'Kid_X', a theatre production that charts a futuristic romance between a boy with a bionic heart and a famous rooftop selfie queen.

Following the success of 2016's volume 1, the label arm of Glasgow's Mungo's HiFi has
selected more cream cuts from their globe-trotting link-ups celebrating sound system culture.
The album starts with Bim Sherman. Lightning and Thunder is a Mungo's remix of a vocal
supplied by Adrian Sherwood. French collective Subactive's aquatic dub imagining of Follow
Me by UK Garage/Grime project Wolves, featuring the voice of Bo* Johnson. Supercat
straddles Chief Rockas' update of the classic Gunshot riddim for a reprise of "the Don
Dada's" 1982 hit Dance Inna New York. The vibes then travel bang up to date with a sparse
Mungo's fix of ethereal singer-songwriter Nem's 2017 eco-breakout Purest Force. Jamaican
chanter Isha Bel is given a belly-battering bass blend by Aquarius. The A side closes with a
continuation of the Rasta theme. General Jah Mikey, channelling Burning Spear for his own
Ites Green and Gold, rides a deft digital riff by bald-head New Zealand-based super-producer
Naram. Danny T and Tradesman build an industrial-strength base for anti-violence lament Up
Deh: a rare vocal outing from Iration Steppas' Mark Iration. Then it's time for Poland's
Dreadsquad to ease the pressure with swinging onedrop vibraphone instrumental Space. JA
meets "Glasgae" for Feel Good, an uplifting collab between Jamaican singer Skari and Scottish
producer Escape Roots. Earl Sixteen, wraps his pipes around Joy Division's Love Will Tear Us
Apart, helmed hauntingly by Capitol 1212. Scotch Bonnet's own Thomas Stalawa gets
everyone marching to a beat inspired by Steely and Clevie's Dem Bow, as dangerous Spanish
emcee Ponchita Peligros demands all in attendance Run the Calypso. The album ends with a
request from un-categorisable Israeli collective Trillion featuring General G that puffers
choose wisely - via anti-cigarette missive No Nicotine

Galang Danny T & Tradesman Remix
7" | 2016 | EU | Original (Scotch Bonnet)

Release:2016 / EU – Original
Genre:Reggae / Dancehall
Galang sees Parly embracing a tough ragga riddim track provided by Danny T & Tradesman that is reminiscent of the futurist, minimal style that was pioneered in the late 1990’s and early 00’s by producers such as Lenky, Ward 21, Frenchie and Steely & Clevie. As always Parly brings his distinctive vocal style to the track that perfectly rides the space and weight the riddim brings. Deliciously low slung, and punching at all the tastiest low end frequencies, this is one for the winers! This is the perfect taster for next year’s eagerly anticipated debut album from Danny T & Tradesman.

Mungo's have been championing this track for sometime now and have said they rarely play a gig without someone asking "what is that police officer tune...?" Mungo's Hi Fi held a recording session with Sugar Minott in Glasgow in 2009, not knowing that he would sadly pass away six months later. This record features his raggamuffin vocal which has been complemented with Daddy Freddy at his growling best, which he was proud to record alongside his friend and mentor. The 12” features on one side Mungo's Hi Fi's original dubby smasher, which has been one of their most requested tracks since they started playing it out on dubplate. The other side is their first collaboration with Chimpo, who has pulled out all the stops to take the homage to Zinc's Super Sharp Shooter to the next level. You need this record.

Charlie P is a raggamuffin rudeboy youth with a natural talent for music. He first appeared on stage at the age of 5 and there are some grainy youtube videos of him performing as a child. He started out singing motown and blues but reggae was in his blood since he grew up surrounded by UKJamaican culture. He started singing with the Goldmaster Allstars at the age of 11, but was soon drawn to soundsystems which is where he feels most at home. His uncle had been running a sound in Southend on Sea and it was his mother who encouraged him in his career.

Charlie first came to Glasgow in 2010 for one of Mungo's Hi Fi's legendary nights at the Artschool. This was the beginning of their working relationship which has seen countless recording sessions and continuous touring around every corner of the globe. This album is the culmination of this ongoing relationship and brings together the best tracks across the styles that he loves, from roots reggae and dancehall to modern bass music. Some are surprised to see a young white guy with a Jamaican accent, but it is his musical language and Charlie is not pretending to be anything but himself - a man with a passion for good ganja and reggae dancehall.
