Release:2017 / EU – Original
Genre:Electronic / Dance
Now with over 20 years of releases behind him, Oliver Huntemann finds himself on the cusp of yet a new era in his career. 'Propaganda' is the fifth proper artist album from the Hamburg-based DJ/producer, and like each of its predecessors, it shows a different side to one of the most consistently rewarding names in techno. Released on his own Senso Sounds label, the album exudes the level of assurance that perhaps only comes with being so active in curating and developing a label that has stood out from the masses since its inception in 2014. 'Propaganda' opens with 'Taktik', and the mood is quickly established through crisp motorik drum programming and deep, pulsing bass lines. 'Poltergeist' - the 2nd cut, continues this aesthetic - a deep and spacious groover. Clocking in at over 1 hour 15 minutes, the album allows a lot of space for itself, each tracking having the time it needs to develop and unfold. 'Egoist' ramps up the feel somewhat with intricate melodies and effects, before breaking down into something that will destroy many dance floors. Yet the beauty of the album format is that it allows for various mood changes, and 'Malaria' brings us something of a shift into a more freaked out and edgy vibe, while 'Anonym' highlights Huntemann's mastery of atmosphere, serving as an ambient / downbeat interlude. 'Rotlicht' is perhaps a standout for fans of Huntemann's epic DJ sets, exhibiting all the control and release dynamic that make him such an engaging performer.

Senso Sounds collects together two of the key tracks from bossman Oliver Huntemann’s new ‘Propaganda’ album for this 12 inch release. Senso has established itself as a key label in the techno scene and Huntemann’s ear for quality remains as sharp as ever. ‘Rotlicht’ is a precision-honed instrument of techno weaponry - hard as nails and featuring epic and mind-bending breakdowns. Additionally the Egyptian DJ and producer Raxon reworks the track into a deep and solid groover with plenty of attitude. ‘Poltergeist’ is a journey into Huntemann’s feel for sound design and space in a club context, beguiling with its seeming simplicity, before hitting home with shifting, evolving grooves and haunting synth blasts. The young Russian Maksim Dark adds his own interpretation of ‘Poltergeist’ to the release, edging up the darkness a little more and producing a growling, tough techno workout that will go over big on a lot of floors this year.

Victor Ruiz is one of the hottest names in underground electronic music right now, and this 12′ on Oliver Huntemann's always-reliable Senso imprint gives a pretty clear reason why. The Brazilian DJ and producer has been popping up all over the world in the last few years, and his string of amazing releases on labels such as Electric Ballroom and Sudbeat have cemented his reputation. This 12-inch is testament to that reputation - made up of four tracks of uncompromising, precise techno. Side A brings us Red Lights - a spacey journey to the heart of the dancefloor - tweaked and shaped for maximum effect on big room sound-systems. Dutchman Bart Skils steps up on remix duties to provide a sick Motor Speedway mix- somewhere between the Krautrock influences of Kraftwerk and the sleek techno of Detroit's 2nd wave. The flip brings us Nevermind - Victor Ruiz doing what he does best - exploring track dynamics within a perfectly developed journey - including an unsettling and trippy vocal that lifts the track even further towards the stars. Label boss Oliver Huntemann stops by to provide the remix - stipping the track down to his signature sound - deep and streamlined, yet full of emotion.
