Matthew De Gennaro - Spark + Flame / La Chirapita
Matthew De Gennaro
Spark + Flame / La Chirapita
7" | 2016 | US | Original (Soft Abuse)
9,99 €*
Release:2016 / US – Original
Genre:Rock / Indie
A glorious state of the union delivered by Matthew De Gennaro. Long a denizen of greater Ann Arbor, MI, De Gennaro rose to cult notoriety following a string (pun intended) of collaborative releases with ALASTAIR GALBRAITH. With "Spark + Flame," De Gennaro volleys an ode for his lovely bride; a love song sung by a changed & grateful man. On the flip is a cascading organ & keyboard driven piece, "La Chirapita", that's downcast & hopeful all at once. The limited 45 is tied together with brilliant psychedelic art by Josh Burkett & assembled to resemble the 78s that fill De Gennaro's music room.

LP | 2016 | US | Original (Soft Abuse)
17,99 €*
Release:2016 / US – Original
Genre:Rock / Indie
Mysterious, moody, basement trio The Bibs present their debut, a 12-string electric DIY Detroit basement folk-rock statement in the crude tradition of INDEX's own confusing reality music. Which is not to suggest the jangle/folk spice of "From The Fish Houses" comes only from the group's deep Michigan weirdo forbearers, nay. These cult sounds are links from a lineage of antipodean forward/free-thinking minds like MAD NANNA, The CANNANES and TALL DWARFS. The Bibs make use of wayward melodies, muffled percussion, delirium sounds & the occasional rock-ist bombast; these songs burrow in deep like earworms in reverse.

9,99 €*
Release:2016 / US – Original
Genre:Electronic / Dance
Working under the solo guise FWY!, SF-based producer Edmund Xavier (Horrid Red, Der Teenage Panzerkorps, etc.) has sustained a steady flow of self-coined "music for freeways," a distinctly Californian kosmiche that sounds so great out on the road. His latest, "San Gabriel", is the 7th FWY! physical release, & is by far his most fully realized, sophisticated work. Features various contributions from Clay Ruby (BURIAL HEX), Sandra Selig (PRIMITIVE MOTION), & the enigmatic William P., & clocks in at 70 mins, making it just long enough to soundtrack your commute.

Salt
Tape | 2015 | US | Original (Soft Abuse)
9,99 €*
Release:2015 / US – Original
Genre:Rock / Indie
7 years after the 1st Ulaan Khol release arrived, Steven R. Smith continues to utilize the platform to fuse the confluence of New Zealand free noise, Australian post-punk & art-rock, & Japanese underground psych (a la PSF Records) with his own palette. Smith presents his own personal strain of psychedelic guitar exploration, alternating between blistering, hypnotic & meditative, with his scorching guitar firmly at the center. "Salt" is the latest chapter. Features cover of Leon Russell's "Delta Lady".

LP | 2014 | US | Original (Soft Abuse)
17,99 €*
Release:2014 / US – Original
Genre:Rock / Indie
Ulaan Markhor is the latest solo moniker for Californian Steven R.Smith's studio explorations. "Spiral Horns, Black Onions, et al." fuses recent itinerant work under the aliases Ulaan Khol (blistering basement psychedelia) &Ulaan Passerine (moody & meditative zones) & unveils a distinctly American version of kosmische, with heavy Levon Helm/Clyde Stubblefield-indebted rhythm& groove replacing motorik pulses. Fluid synth, bass, organ & searing guitar textures - all played by Smith - augment the beats. The result is something akin to TheMeters meets Amon Duul II.

5,99 €*
Release:2009 / US – Original
Genre:Rock / Indie
One-time pressing of 400!! Pigeons make sublimely blasted/incredibly hallucinogenic songs from their base up in Bronx, NY. The trio of Wednesday Knudsen, Clark Griffin & Carter Thornton have been active for a few years, releasing miniature-run cassettes & lathe cuts for Griffin's sub-underground Moran Tape Label that dealt in skronk, warp & mystery. Their wayward song-based creations are just as ambitious, melding dissonance, crude electronics & chanson pop.

Blackout Beach - Blues Trip
Nathan Bowles - A Bottle, A Buckeye
