Transversales is a French label based in Paris founded by Sebastien Rosat & Jonathan Fitoussi. Transversales is specialised in the reissues of long lost tapes, rare original soundtracks and library.
Jonathan Fitoussi is a French composer residing in Paris. He works on minimalist and contemporary musical forms. He's also audio restoration engineer at INA & INA GRM. Sebastien Rosat is a French Music Supervisor working for Films, TV and Advertising. He's also a member of French electronic duo Sommet.
This first release is the original soundtrack of the film Rock, composed in 1982 by Bernard Parmegiani (1927-2013). A major figure of Electro Acoustic music and member of the historic GRM (Groupe de Recherches Musicales) where he composed an important work of concert, among which is the masterpiece: De Natura Sonorum.
The work of Parmegiani, a virtuoso of the magnetic tape, is widely known to the public even without their knowledge, through the famous title he composed for the TV program “Stade 2”, for the French radio France Inter and also through the jingle adopted by Roissy-Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris (1971 - 2005).
Bernard Parmegiani produced a large number of jingles, soundtracks and indicatives but ROCK stands apart in his repertoire. He recorded it without any outside constraints in his own studio. On listening to ROCK, one is reminded of John Carpenter or François de Roubaix: a work which mixes the sounds of the TR-808 drum-machine, Synthi AKS, Farfisa organ and Clavinet.

Stanley Kubrick has a troubled past with Deerhoof. An argument over whether Eyes Wide Shut was good almost broke up the band in 1999 and again in 2003. When Famous Class suggested a 7" of music from The Shining, the band waffled for three years about whether they thought they could do it justice. But once a Halloween release date was proposed, Deerhoof couldn't resist. They got the score to Bartok's "Music For Strings, Percussion and Celesta" out of the library, and transcribed one of the 20s songs straight from the closing credits. Music that in the movie echoed from some ghostly, gilded past takes on a more urgent character in Deerhoof's versions, as if to underscore that the horrors of white supremacy, oligarchy, and domestic abuse are alive and well in 2018 America.

Ennino Morricone delivered more of the same dramatic conflict on his score for the 1968 Western 'La Resa Dei Conti', this time mixing in a bit of atmospheric formlessness among his more romantic and orchestral sounds. There's some vampiric-sounding organs as well as one of those ascending, judgement day tunes that's expected of a Western: the strings come into play and the choir gets heavy with the tension.

Just reading the artist and the title of this work would be more than enough to present this release: the most renowned Italian musician, composer and conductor, followed by one of the most famous Italian films ever: that's just what they are, after all, Ennio Morricone and "Cinema Paradiso", a film that in 1990 earned director Giuseppe Tornatore an Oscar for Best Foreign Film.

Love, nostalgia, melancholy, these are the three main ingredients of "Cinema Paradiso", the same that characterize Morricone's soundtrack. A work of pure classical music: orchestral, symphonic, compelling and moving, it's the perfect comment to the scenes expertly directed by Tornatore.

Lucio Fulci’s seminal films including Zombie (Zombi 2), City of the Living Dead and The Beyond are heralded as classics by horror fans and critics alike; they
inhabit an unsettling, fever dream realm located somewhere between our world and - well - The Beyond. Fulci was able to successfully convey his vision in no
small part with the help of composer Fabio Frizzi, with whom he collaborated on over half a dozen projects from the mid-Seventies up to Fulci’s passing in the
mid-Nineties. Frizzi’s haunting scores employ an array of ominous sounds, fusing synthesizers with orchestral arrangements and a Latin choir.
Tarantino’s inclusion of Frizzi’s theme from Seven Notes in Black in Kill Bill, Vol 1 and the emergence of bands like Zombi, has brought renewed attention to Frizzi’s
music and the maestro has been invited to perform his iconic themes all over the world. With Zombi 2 Beyond Ship To Shore PhonoCo. offers fans a sampling of
Frizzi’s standout cuts from Lucio Fulci’s most renowned films, Zombie (Zombi 2) and The Beyond. This 7’’ 45 comes replete with a picture sleeve and is available

Inside the vast Goblin archive, "Yell" is perhaps one of the less well-known tracks, that undoubtedly deserves no less attention that the band's most famous works. It's a song composed for bass guitar, percussion and keyboards where an opening reminiscent of "L'alba dei morti viventi" is followed by a sudden vibe change, due to the quick entrance of all the other instruments: electric piano chords, a pulsating bass, obscure synths and twisted keyboards still preserve that mix of tension and and darkness that made Goblin unique in the soundtracks area. The song was composed on commission at the end of 1978 to be used as the intro theme for a series of seven TV thriller/horror movies called "Sette storie per non dormire" (a title that could be translated into "Seven stories that won't let you sleep") that was broadcast in the autumn of the same year by the Italian Rete 2 RAI channel; taking advantage of the success of the series, Cinevox Record decided to release "Yell" on a 45rpm that included, as B-side, the song "...e suono Rock" taken from the album "Il fantastico viaggio del Bagarozzo Mark". The original edition of "Yell" is today one of the rarest Golbin releases, and is exclusively reissued for the first time ever by AMS Records on red vinyl, for the Record Store Day 2019 event. Mondo presents the third of the Cronenberg / Shore trilogy: the 20th anniversary release of Howard Shore’s score to David Cronenberg’s “Crash”. “Crash” is an utterly audacious piece of work from Shore - using 6 electric guitars, 3 orchestral harps, 3 woodwinds and 2 percussionists. Shore crafts a meticulous sonic landscape. Based on the novel by J.G. Ballard, “Crash” deftly explores the complex interpersonal relationships of a select few, who find themselves colliding head-on with the world of car-crash fetishism. “Crash” is the first Cronenberg film to premiere at Cannes. John Bender wrote “Shore's calculated instrumentation, mostly electronically manipulated guitars, harps and percussion, give Crash a cold and burnished metallic sound.” The perfect companion to an uncompromising filmmaker like David Cronenberg. Celebrating the 20th anniversary of this complex film, Mondo and Howe Records present Howard Shore's score for “Crash” for the first time ever on vinyl, with original artwork by Rich Kelly.

From the cosmic creative musical mind of Swiss/Catalan studio whizz, Zeleste Nightclub engineer, Video Nasty film composer, occasional Jaume Sisa (Música Dispersa) collaborator and future electronic music therapy pioneer comes the synthridden vocoder-loaded 1984 sci-funk soundtrack to Barcelona’s daytime TV response to the universal E.T. phenomena. Get ready to meet your new alienígena amic and the unidentified flying object of thousands of Catalonian kids affections through the 1980s as Finders Keepers present J. M. Pagan’s lost lunar modular synth score to Kiu I Els Seus Amics (Kiu And Friends aka Kiu Is Your Friend).
From the same intergalactic phenomenon that brought such delights as Turkey’s exploito cash-in “Badi” or South Africa’s lo-rent hommage “Nukie” to our unregulated small screens, and the same craze which filled international airwaves with the likes of Extra T’S electro smash single “E.T. Boogie” or the million selling Columbian “Cumbia De E.T. El Extraterrestre” smash hit... not to mention a wide range of unofficial themetune cover versions from Holland, Austria, France and Germany (lest we forget an inspired late period Lee Scratch Perry Album) the creators of the movie which inspire the music on the album you are about to hear made no bones about their intergalactic muse. In 1982 the diaspora from Steven Spielberg’s small fictional mid-American neighbourhood that played host to everyones favourite torch fingered, three toed, Skittle scoffing space goblin touched virtually every family home in every major city resulting in one of the biggest cinematic merchandise phenomenas of the 21st century, resulting in an unexpected high-demand / short-supply play-off in which bootleggers, copyists and counterfeiters rose to the challenge like never before. At the precise moment that international audiences saw that cute little baldy poke his retractable neck around the corner and started stealing beer from the fridge, demanding long distance phone calls while circuit bending kids toys and frankly not looking after the plants... the human race was hooked! and we wanted more! more! more! When Spielberg regrettably told interviewers that he had no intention of making a sequel to E.T. The Extra Terrestrial, it instantly became open-season for the imitators... but way before somebody squeezedout, Mac & Me, ALF and The Purple People Eater a team of kid’s TV executives in Catalunya were ready to fill the widening gap in the market without haste. Created in 1983 by Luna Films and Televisió de Catalunya (TV3) and screened exclusively in Catalunya, Kiu I Els Seus Amics was one of the first E.T. “tributes” to make it out of the gate, and with a crew of five individual directors and writers to ensure that the five episode, one-off series hit the wave of phone-home-fever, “Kiu” has since remained a short but sweet micro-memory in the hearts of an entire generation of Catalonian cosmonauts.

The original Soundtrack to Greek-German director Nikias Chrssos’ new feature, ‘A Pure Place’, scored by John Gürtler (Eigenlicht, Counter019), with his studio partner Jan Miserre, and featuring a track by chameleonic British artist Shackleton. Full Info: The script for A Pure Place had a dizzying effect on John Gürtler & Jan Miserre; their minds reeling with the possibilities. From Persian sheep bells, Chinese sheng, prepared trombone, quarter-tone piano, a beaten-up cembalo, hand percussion, and a room full of synthesizers, embryonic compositions and experiments came to life early on in the project. An electro-acoustic extravaganza, the soundtrack for A Pure Place takes a deep bow towards the many magnificent composers and scores from the late 60s and 70s where orchestral arrangements met with tape loops, psychedelia, and instruments from across the globe. Listening to that era of film music, anything seems possible. The minimalist tones of ‘Ritual Bells’ set the dial to weird in the opening sequence of the movie, whilst ‘The Island’ makes use of ambient vocals recorded through an oil drum, gently introducing one of the score’s main themes with a distant quarter-tone cembalo. Acclaimed British artist Shackleton’s eerie original version of ‘Fust’s Song’ (also included) was a tonal keystone for the entire soundtrack. Gürtler and Miserre translated his psychedelic electronic blueprint, layering acoustic instruments and bottom-heavy percussion in their ‘Paradox Paradise’ production style.

The soundtrack features new music from two-time Academy Award®-winner Justin Hurwitz, as well as a recording of Leon Bridges performing “Whitey on the Moon,” in character as Gil Scott Heron.

On the heels of their six-time Academy Award®-winning smash, LA LA LAND, Oscar®-winning director Damien Chazelle and star Ryan Gosling re-team for FIRST MAN - the riveting story behind the first manned-mission to the moon, focusing on Neil Armstrong and the decade leading up to the historic Apollo 11 flight. It's visceral and intimate account told from Armstrong’s perspective, based on the book by James R. Hansen. The film explores the triumphs and the cost on Armstrong, his family, his colleagues and the nation itself of one of the most dangerous missions in history.

The film’s harmonious score features orchestra mixed with vintage electronics, including the Theremin. Regarding that choice of instrumentation, Hurwitz said, “As soon as I found the main theme at the piano, Damien suggested using a Theremin to express that melody throughout the movie. I got one and started learning to play it and loved how emotional and expressive the instrument could be. With its wailing quality, we were able to capture the type of cosmic pain that suited Neil’s story.”

The haunting score is composed by Kenji Kawai, one of Japan’s most celebrated soundtrack composers, alongside Joe Hisaishi and Ry?ichi Sakamoto, whose work includes Hideo Nakata’s Ring (1998) and Ring 2 (1999), Death Note (2006), Hong Kong films Seven Swords by Tsui Hark (2005) and Ip Man by Wilson Yip (2008), and countless others. Kawai’s compositions see ancient harmonies and percussions uncannily mesh with synthesized sounds of the modern world to convey a sumptuous balance between folklore tradition and futuristic outlook.

Ship to Shore is proud to announce the original soundtrack release of Konami’s well-loved RPG classic Esper Dream and it’s follow-up Esper Dream 2, in one release!

Originally released in 1987 on the Famicom Disk System, Esper Dream was a unique departure for RPG games of that era, featuring a protagonist who wielded a gun instead of a sword and who had ESP powers instead of the traditional magic usually seen in similar games. Taking advantage of the Famicom Disk System’s enhanced sound design, Konami Kukeiha Club’s soundtrack sounds several years ahead of its time, featuring funky melodies and multi-layered sound design.

Its sequel, released in 1992, is a natural continuation of what Konami Kukeiha Club achieved in 1987, but with much more refinement. Esper Dream 2: Aratanaru Tatakai is considered one of the best RPGs of its generation by those who were lucky enough to experience it and just listening to the soundtrack alone is enough evidence to regard that as true.

Available on vinyl for the first time, Esper Dream 1 + 2 is a treat for the fine lover of video game music and RPG historians.

Mondo celebrates the 30th anniversary of the “Castlevania” franchise with the premiere vinyl release of the original soundtrack to the 1989 Famicom / Nintendo Entertainment System Three-quel / Prequel: “Dracula's Curse”.

“Dracula's Curse” is a dark horse for most beloved of the original NES / FAMICOM trilogy, as it was a happy marriage of the linear elements of the first “Castlevania” and the more exploratory elements of “Simon’s Quest” – a union that led to the introduction of multiple playable characters, multiple paths and multiple endings – that remain franchise staples even today. The story follows Trevor Belmont, Simon’s ancestor and his battles with the prince of darkness, along side three other warriors: Grant Danasty the Pirate, Sypha Belnades the Mystic, and Alucard, Dracula’s Son, who makes series debut here, and will play a more pivotal role in the games to come.

The soundtrack to “Dracula's Curse” is important as well. Not only for fan favorite track ‘Beginning,’ a track you’d be nary to find excluded from any future “Dracula's Curse” game, but for the dynamic audio introduced on the Japanese version of the game. The VRC6 Audio chip contained in the Japanese version allowed for a wider array of sound channels, producing a brighter, fuller soundtrack than on the cartridge released in the US. The Nintendo Entertainment System could not process this level of audio, so the version released in the US needed to have the audio scaled back. Despite this audio handicap the US version is still terrific, and the superiority of the which version best is still a matter of debate to this day.

No need to choose though, since Mondo’s vinyl re-issue contains both, spread across two LPs, housed in a gatefold jacket featuring amazing new artwork by Sachin Teng.

We are thrilled to be releasing the score to A Quiet Place in conjunction with our friends over at Milan Records. The film has been one of the breakout hits of 2018. This is only the second directorial feature for John Krasinski and is an absolutely incredibly tense monster movie, that is as original as it is scary.

The score by Marco Beltrami is an absolute tour de force, it's basically another character in the film, it can be forceful and bludgeoning one minute and quiet and reflective the next. His players twist their instruments to generate tones and textures not usually associated with them, the layers of sound and percussion on display are incredible, the opening track 'It Hears You' reminds me of a classic Planet Of The Apes cue it's disquieting and slightly wonky but has an incredible hook that immediately lets you know you are in horror territory whereas say 'A Quiet Family' is a beautiful piano track that reminds you of the life the family lived before a world of monsters took over. Pianos are detuned, Electronics are layered over traditional instruments to create something truly unsettling

The original soundtrack of Gomorrah, the acclaimed Italian television crime drama inspired by Roberto Saviano's 2008 best-selling book Gomorrah. Gomorrah received unprecedented critical acclaim all over the world. The Guardian (uk) called it "The unmissable, ultimate mafia show" and German magazine Spiegel-Online says, "Forget the Sopranos, here they are the Savastanos!" The music from both seasons of Gomorrah is composed and performed by Mokadelic, a Rome based psychedelic-post-rock collective, specializing in music for film. The music of Mokadelic is influenced by the contemporary sounds of such names as Mogwai, Explosions in the Sky, and Godspeed You Black Emperor, without forgetting the lessons from the great Italian soundtrack composers of the sixties and seventies. The soundtrack has an eclectic sound palette that alternates from spacious, melancholic atmospheres to extremely dense climaxes. It's an emotionally intense musical narrative, deeply inspired by Gomorrah's haunting realism.

Six years before the release of his landmark Mother Earth's Plantasia LP, composer and arranger Mort Garson met experimental film director Skip Sherwood, who was interested in an electronic score for his new movie, Didn't You Hear? While not much is known now about the exact nature of their collaboration, we have Garson's magnificent score as a record of those heady, early days after his life-changing discovery of the Moog synthesizer. Notable for being one of the earliest screen appearances by a young Gary Busey, Didn't You Hear? also boasts one of the first-ever all-electronic movie scores. Though the score was first released in 1970, it sounds as adventurous and futuristic today as it must have then. Originally available only in the lobby of the theater at screenings of the movie in Seattle, the soundtrack LP went out of print shortly after the film's release. It has been a sought-after record for collectors of Mort Garson and early electronic music ever since. Sacred Bones is honored to reissue Didn't You Hear? as it was meant to be heard, taken from the original master tapes and given a pristine remaster by engineer Josh Bonati. Morton S. "Mort" Garson was a Canadian-born composer, arranger, songwriter, and pioneer of electronic music. He is best known for his albums in the 1960s and 1970s that were among the first to feature Moog synthesizers. His best-known album is Mother Earth's Plantasia, a 1976 Moog album designed to be played "for plants and the people who love them." Sacred Bones Records has undertaken the project of giving official, licensed reissues to key releases from Mort Garson's catalog, with the intention of bringing these bold masterpieces to a 21st century audience.

The musical score is an intrinsic part of the experience, mirroring the psychological state of the story’s protagonist Hunter Conrad and drawing the audience into her world. Atmospheric, disquieting, beautiful, and even at times uplifting, Nathan Halpern has created an indelible soundtrack that won’t be forgotten once heard, and is due to be one of the most talked-about scores of the year.

Ship to Shore PhonoCo. is proud to present Nick Soole’s masterful score to the fantasy-horror motion picture The Head Hunter!

Featuring minimal dialogue, The Head Hunter concerns a Viking warrior who protects the outskirts of his city from supernatural, mythical creatures. When his daughter is murdered by one of the very beasts he was meant to destroy, he finds himself alone and disillusioned, and becomes obsessed with getting revenge…

A film with few words will often have to rely on its visual and non-dialogue audio components to tell the story, and this is exactly what we get with Jordan Downey’s remarkable feature The Head Hunter. Boasting an impressive sound design to draw us into the cold, snowy world and fabulous sound effects to make us feel every squelch of mud, every crack of bone and every slice of the hero’s sword, the soundtrack sandwiches the elements together whilst providing the emotional pull of the narrative. Thankfully, composer Nick Soole has not only created a musical score that allows us to follow the Head Hunter’s mental state - from grief, pain and faithlessness to rage, horror and fear - but also stands on its own as a work of art when listened separately to the movie. Available on vinyl in a limited edition “Viking Flame” orange variant, don’t miss out on getting a copy!

Nils Frahm has always said that he’s just waiting for something real special when being asked if he would ever score the music for a film. And that’s exactly what German director Sebastian Schipperpresented to him with his one-take feature ‘Victoria’. Filmed in Berlin, Victoria’s plot sees a runaway party girl, who's asked by three friendly men to join them as they hit the town, but their wild night of partying suddenly turns into a bank robbery as the music changes from techno to subdued piano sounds.

For the recording session at Studio P4 in Berlin, Frahm enlisted the help of long-time collaborator and cellist Anne Müller, violist Viktor Orri Árnason and ambient artist Erik K. Skodvin of Deaf Center on guitar.

The soundtrack opens with an edit of ‘Burn With Me’ by German producer DJ Koze.

Oneohtrix Point Never follows up his recent productions for ANOHNI and FKA Twigs, with possibly his most ambitious project yet, the award-winning Good Time Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. Recently scooping the best soundtrack award 2017 at Cannes, it features thirteen tracks of electronic wonderment with an incredible and utterly flooring collaboration with none other than Iggy Pop.

Having continuously strived to refine his production skill and style, for us Oneohtrix Point Never truly hit a peak with his 2015 album Garden Of Delete, by crossing left of centre pop notions with a level of electronic futurism that vastly outweighed all his peers, he crafted a record that sounded fresher than anything that had come before, one that also offered up a refreshed new sound pallette. Yet for our money, on the Good Time Original Motion Picture Soundtrack OPN has truly outdone himself once again, and in doing so has created a record so stunning and visually rich that it is sure to see him taking his much deserved place within the highest ranking levels of modern soundtrack composers. By working outside the parameters of the mainstream, OPN's Good Time Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is a world-renowned classic in the making and one that is sure to take pride of place alongside Mica Levi's Under The Skin, Vangelis' Blade Runner, Angelo Badalamenti's Twin Peaks and everything Ennio Morricone has ever done as an all-time classic, and one of the very best moments in the history of cinema soundtracking.

We won't give the game away just yet, but trust us when we say this is one of the year's most special records.

The second in Philip Glass' trilogy about men who changed the world, Satyagraha's sub-text is politics. The opera is semi-narrative in form and deals with Mahatma Gandhi's early years in South Africa and his development of nonviolent protest into a political tool ('Satyagraha' is a Sanskrit word meaning 'truth force'). The first two acts each contain three scenes; the last is one continuous scene. Each act is dominated by a single historic figure (non-singing role) overlooking the action from above: the Indian poet Rabindranath Tagore in Act I, the Russian author Leo Tolstoy in act II, the American civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr., in Act III. In the scope of a traditional orchestra, Glass used a large string section for the first time in Satyagraha. His typically repetitive musical structures impart the music with a unique, definitely non-illustrative dimension and mirror the rhythm and melody of Hindu prayers. This deluxe Satyagraha lift-off box set contains a wonderful 24-page booklet. Also available on 180 gm vinyl: Essential / Einstein On The Beach / The Photographer / Solo Piano / Glassworks / Low Symphony / Heroes Symphony / Passages / Songs From The Trilogy / The Illusionist OST / Jane OST.

Four Flies launches its new jazz series dedicated to top Italian soundtracks from the 1960’s with this extraordinary work by Piero Piccioni: 3 Notti D’Amore (3 Nights of Love). Originally released in 1964 on CAM – CMS series, this record had a very limited pressing, and is considered one of the grooviest and jazziest scores composed by the legendary Italian maestro. Thanks to the support of an exceptional big band, Piccioni shapes a unique cool style, supported by a truly exotic and percussive rhythm section (“Come on Rome”, “Just For Fun”), full of charming flute phrases (“The Easy Way”) and baritone sax passages (“Pop’s Lolly”), and beautifully played by the two great soloists, Gino Marinacci and Gato Barbieri. Piccioni himself plays the piano on all the tracks, and created a magnificent, dynamic and sophisticated soundtrack. Pressed for the first time in its integrity, this soundtrack includes some missing numbers from the original record, and presents others in their extended full versions, such as “Sally’s Surf” (compiled in the essential Easy Tempo series). A superb album featuring marvelous tracks – from bossa to pop-jazz – this original soundtrack also features a couple of tracks by Carlo Rustichelli; two dreamy, sensually vocalized melodies. One of Piccioni’s lesser known masterpieces that truly embodies that golden time period, and a real beauty for every 60s jazz lover.

Game of Thrones has always featured excellent music. The opening theme is
practically iconic at this point, having been played and covered so many times.
Composer Ramin Djawadi’s heavy, atmospheric tunes have always helped set
the mood, no matter what tone the show is going for at any given time. Starting
May 2018 the music of Game of Thrones can be heard all around the world
during the Live Concert Experience.
In Game of Thrones Season 5, nine noble families fight for control of the
mythical land of Westeros. Political and sexual intrigue is pervasive. Robert
Baratheon, King of Westeros, asks his old friend Eddard, Lord Stark, to serve
as Hand of the King, or highest official. Secretly warned that the previous Hand
was assassinated, Eddard accepts in order to investigate further. Meanwhile
the Queen’s family, the Lannisters, may be hatching a plot to take power.
Across the sea, the last members of the previous and deposed ruling family, the
Targaryens, are also scheming to regain the throne. The friction between the
houses Stark, Lannister, Baratheon and Targaryen and with the remaining great
houses Greyjoy, Tully, Arryn,Tyrell and Martell leads to full-scale war. All while
a very ancient evil awakens in the farthest north. Amidst the war and political
confusion, a neglected military order of misfits, the Night’s Watch, is all that
stands between the realms of men and icy horrors beyond.
