Oliver Koletzki - Iyewaye

Release:2015 / EU – Original
Genre:Electronic / Dance
With ‘Iyewaye’, the first solo-EP after the release of his fifth album ‘I am OK’ last year, Oliver Koletzki shows himself in a new, but not altogether unfamiliar light: since his breakthrough in 2005 with ‘Der Mückenschwarm’ Koletzki hasn’t sounded this hard. Gone is the pop-angle, replaced by a dark sound-aesthetic and raw energy. But even here, in the Techno realm, Oliver Koletzki demonstrates his inimitable sense for melody: thus, the gloomy and driving framework of ‘Iyewaye’ is lit up by a crystal-clear synth-sequence. Similarly, ‘Ipuza’, which hypnotizes by way of reduction and repetition, is funky in its core thanks to a rolling tribal groove. Functional, but with heart and soul.

A download code is included. Extraordinary pieces of music have long stood in direct correlation to the physical surroundings that inspire them. When Oliver Koletzki and Niko Schwind packed up their Berlin studios last April to spend a month locked away in a cottage nestled in the stunning nature of Cape Town’s Noordhoek area before heading to AfrikaBurn, little did they know that its long beaches, dramatic mountain views and the heritage of its indigenous people would have such a profound effect on the club-ready sound they had championed with a string of EPs and live-performances since 2015. The result of four weeks of geo-cultural stimuli and creative experimentation culminated in the album Noordhoek.

Genre:Electronic / Dance
After showcasing his knack for emotive productions via various EPs throughout his career, including chart-topping singles on Hot Since 82's Knee Deep in Sound and Dave Seaman's Selador, the Swiss artist Several Definitions now reveals his first full-length album. It should come as no surprise that the artist found familiarity in what he calls the "Berlin style" of electronic music and notably, that of Oliver Koletzki's Stil vor Talent. Reborn After The Road is an intense and emotional affair, consisting of 14 tracks crafted using field and live recordings, switching between analogue and digital to mould a sonic atmosphere that emblazons the artist's core ethos. Although the personal experience that sparked the inspiration for the LP is far from pleasant, Several Definitions' style is audibly resolute. Reborn After The Road, the album's eponymous track, creates a fitting intro for the healing process that is to follow. Its airy pads and majestic strings sonically stand at the epicenter of the expressive album. Several Definitions continues to explore these sounds on vaporous slices like Pontce?ard 32 or the more acidical Last Breath. The mellifluous, feminine vocals of LaMeduza on Learn To Feel and Her, as well as Spanish singer Goldsun's crooner talents on the introspective Trust, on the other hand, showcase Several Definitions' ability to work the human voice into his musical explorations. Taking introspection one step further towards darker realms, Senelity then feels like a rite of passage into the deeper and more intense segment at the album's core. Over You briefly signals a turning point, with its alarm-like synths and grave leads, which is then followed by the glitchy resistance on Modular Spaces.

incl. Remixes by DJ Tennis + ScubaThe third and final EP from the latest album of HVOB is due for release on September 18. HVOB’s album “Trialog” was released in spring this year and continues to attract unwavering international interest. The interdisciplinary art project - prompting an invitation to perform a Boiler Room set in Vienna, touted by American Thump magazine as a contender for an “Album of the Year” award - is a perennial headliner on influential blogs and media such as XLR8R, Resident Advisor, i-D and ARTE after charting high on Beatport and iTunes. At the same time HVOB’s world-wide tour continues to gather momentum, with concerts in cities from Cape Town and New York to Hong Kong and New Delhi. The third and final EP from the “Trialog” album, “Tender Skin/The Anxiety to please", is now set for release on September 18. None other than Scuba and DJ Tennis have been enlisted to remix the double A side, the seventh EP from the electronic duo: Scuba manages to transform the fragility of “The Anxiety to please” into a subdued powerfulness, while the DJ Tennis remix of “Tender Skin” is similarly powerful and technoid. “Tender Skin/The Anxiety to please” is released on September 18 as a double A side, on vinyl and digital on Stil vor Talent.
