Sacramento’s own, The Cramps, performing live at the legendary punk club Keystone in Palo Alto, a year prior to the release of their debut album, are in top form. Ripping through tracks from that debut, as well as early singles and the classic 1978 EP, Gravest Hits, this is an epic set from the punk group that literally invented the genre of “psychobilly”. Intense, rocking, and glorious, The Cramps were one of the greatest live bands of their era and this set does not disappoint.

Renowned throughout their career for B-movie horror imagery, frantic guitar riffs and lewd onstage antics, The Cramps remained at the forefront of the psychobilly movement right up to the moment of their enforced exit from the music business, which had continued across three decades. This release contains two such performances, both the subject of live FM radio broadcasts. First up is their entire show from Lokeren, Belgium on 12th April 1996 which features a wide array of numbers from across their entire catalogue. Following this is their show from the Jaap Edenhal, Amsterdam, Netherlands on 9th March 1990, which is interspersed with fascinating interview material with Lux Interior and Poison Ivy.

The Cramps emerged out of the first wave of punk music in the mid 1970's, frequenting clubs such as CBGB. Led by husband and wife team Lux Interior and Poison Ivy, this garage psychobilly band incorporated a unique flair for fusing camp, Link Wray- inspired riffs, B-movies, and bizarre performances. Gravest Hits was their debut EP featuring the single "Human Fly." Now on regular-weight vinyl at a much better price!

In 1986 The Cramps released one of their most well known and best selling albums, A Date With Elvis, which did especially well in Europe. On 21st of April of that year, the group led by Lux and Ivy, rolled into Zurich to perform in front of yet another full crowd of adoring fans. As they did the entire tour, the group opened with a rollicking version of "Heartbreak Hotel", followed by several other classic covers, and of course, what Cramps show from '86 would be complete without "Can Your Pussy Do The Dog." A classic live broadcast from Lux and Ivy and the gang, absolutely essential.
