OST Blade Runner
LP | 1982 | EU | Reissue (Warner)
14,99 €*
Release:1982 / EU – Reissue
Genre:Soundtracks
The Blade Runner soundtrack by Vangelis is a dark melodic combination of classic composition and futuristic synthesizers which mirrors the film-noir retro-future envisioned by Ridley Scott. Vangelis, fresh off of his Academy Award winning score from Chariots of Fire, composed and performed the music on his synthesizers. The musicscape of the 2019 was created in Vangelis' "space" mode of new age music, as heard on such albums of his as Heaven and Hell. He also made use of various chimes and the vocals of collaborator Demis Roussos.

Release:2018 / EU – Original

Alexander is the original film score of the film Alexander, and
created by Greek electronic composer Vangelis. “I tried to
remember how it was to live at the time, to be there. At the same
time, I must speak the music language which is understandable
today, because we’re addressing thousands, millions in the
audience.” – said Vangelis. Throughout the soundtrack there’s
a healthy blend of different styles, from orchestral choir vocals
to his synthesizer sounds. It took Vangelis almost a year to
compose the score and the end result is a fascinating one. He’s
searching for the perfect harmony between his different musical
styles. Alexander received the Public Choice Award at the 2005
World Soundtrack Academy.

“To the Unknown Man” Vangelis received the Midem International
Instrumental award in 1978.

orchestral and jazz music started his career working in several
successful bands, such as Aphrodite’s Child. He composed over 50

Greek electronic composer Vangelis created his piece Albedo 0.39 while influenced by the blues and jazz music. The concept album is themed around space physics and the title is based in the planet’s albedo; the proportion of the light it receives that is reflected back into space. Albedo 0.39 features amazing pieces like Pulstar and Alpha and went on to become his first British top 20 title. Vangelis played every instrument on the record, which contains effective and versatile synthesizer passages.
The sci-fi techno sounds and progressive parts marks the different sides of the record, infused with jazz. A truly wonderful listening experience and a must-have for every progressive and electronic music fan. Beaubourg is an expressionistic work, consisting almost
exclusively of strange, unearthly sounds. Ring modulators,
noise and weird effects are unleashed in wide stereo spaces.
The album is often referred to as anti-commercial, because of its
non-melodic - even consonant - nature. Vangelis however spoke
with great affection about this piece in several interviews and his
engineer says Vangelis took it very seriously, while recording
it.”Beaubourg” takes its title from the street in Paris and with that
also refers to the “Centre Pompidou” building in Paris, which
functions as a center for innovative modern (mainly abstract) arts.
Available as a limited edition of 1500 individually numbered
copies on aquamarine Colored Vinyl.

Heaven And Hell
LP | 1975 | US | Reissue (Speakers Corner)

Release:1975 / US – Reissue
Genre:Electronic / Dance
Technical innovations in musical instruments and the development of tonal language have been continual subjects for deliberation from the 19th century onwards at the latest. Additional brain power is necessary to conciliate the two elements with the endless possibilities of electronic sound. In the end, the two factions cannot resolve on a conclusive opinion and the question remains as to whether art always results from skill.
Evángelos Odysséas Papathanassíou, or Vangelis for short, always worked with the newest synthesizer equipment and pushed his cascades of sound to the very edge, right up to the point of electronic overkill. In contrast to many other electronics experimentalists of his time, Vangelis likes to »create important melodies and to develop them further, without going under in the technical equipment« (Stereo Review). Distant human voices, siren-like lost calls lead into oriental dance. A song – far removed from its era – somewhere between Gregorian music and antiphony – a will-o‘-the-wisp, shimmering sound. Polyphonic playing on the Bösendorfer reminds one that every form of musical expression from over the sands of time is welcome. Each listener must discover for himself what sounds heavenly or hellish. But let it be said: musically speaking, the one cannot be imagined without the other.

OST Mythodea
2LP | 2018 | EU | Original (Music On Vinyl)
30,99 €*
Release:2018 / EU – Original
Genre:Soundtracks
Mythodea is an epic choral symphony by the Greek composer Vangelis,
originally composed in 1993. With the support of NASA and the Greek
government he recorded the symphony in the Greece’s Music Hall together
with two harpists, the 120-person chorus of the Greek National Opera, the
75-person London Metropolitan Orchestra and some percussionists. In
this incredible piece the human civilization is represented in outer space.
With the classical mood Vangelis explores new musical territories. His selfwritten
pseudo lyrics sounds incredible in the vocal harmonies from the
chorus and let the listener choose their own meaning of the movements.
The multiple-award winning composer of electronic, progressive, orchestral
and jazz music started his career working in several successful bands, such
as Aphrodite’s Child. He composed over 50 albums and is still creative in
developing new concepts.
The Mythodea package includes a 4 page booklet with pictures and liner
notes. The release is available on vinyl for the first time.
