Angels Dust is vocalist Flavia Campi and producer avid Lampley. Their bewitching, hypnotizing yet soulful debut summons the same heaviness and somber darkness of Portishead & Mazzy Star. Volume 8 of our ongoing Luv N’Haight Edit Series is our biggest one yet! Featuring another helping of Kon with co-headliner Ohmega Watts, taking turns remixing and reimagining another Twilight classic. Supplied with the original stems culled from master tapes provided by Twilight’s own Lawrence Ross, Kon’s remix transforms the original into a mid-tempo boogie-house jam. The deep, minimal intro gives way to a swinging groove with the chorus interspersed in perfectly to sync with the tune. Also included is a dub version that’s a bit more stripped down giving the groove a bit more room to stretch out. Ohmega Watts’ title for his remix is apropos as it’s the type of song to get a house party jumping. With a classic 4 on the floor house beat accompanied by a groovy driving bassline, it’s definitely guaranteed to shake your hips and move your feet!

Harry Klein Records is back. The first contribution comes from Giorgia Angiuli. 'Eu Bebo Sim' is a samba-rock master class from Elizeth Cardoso originally released on Copacabana in 1973, as featured on her Disco de Ouro in 1974. Another find at Tony’s Hits in Sao Paulo.
She released around 40 albums during her career, most of which appeared under the name Elizete Cardoso.

Mastered by Matt Colton at Alchemy and pressed on 180g white vinyl, the HTH040 12" is a companion piece to the HTH020 and HTH035 EPs, with a complimentary colour scheme, debossed cover with postcard insert.

Next up on Greek label Lower Parts is a fierce EP from the one and only DJ Stingray, who serves up one of his strongest releases in a while and, at the same time, marks his comeback with a bang. Featuring a remix by Athens talent Kon001, who Stingray has been meaning to release for years and who got personally handpicked by him for this assignment, the EP’s titles tell us of the Detroit man’s interest in science, biology and evolution and covers plenty of musical styles. Stingray has won plenty of acclaim with serious releases on labels like Naked Lunch, Bleep and Itinerant Dub. He wastes no time here in nailing down a nervy techno groove on ‘Acetylcholine’, with its hurried kicks, electro synths and slithering bass lines all racing along as you do the same. Dendrite is then a half time, lurching number with serious dub weight and serene synths that manages to be beautiful and brutal at the same time. On the flip, ‘eRbB4’ is a slick, journeying bit of electro-techno with real soul and emotion in its bones, before kon001 does Stingray proud with a dynamic, spangled remix that is metallic and reflective, groovy and evocative. This is a killer release from Stingray and is yet another fine offering from Lower Parts.

Going further into techno territory, Orphan Swords come back with a three tracks EP called "License To Desire" on Paris-Based Desire Records. Following the "Risk In The New Age" EP (2014), this new hypnotic release is probably their most powerful so far, concentrating EBM, minimal techno gristle and industrial electronics. This EP clearly relates to previous efforts such as "Caim" that has been described by XLR8R as "The grinding sounds and whirling blasts of white noise position the track directly in the realm of acts like Sandwell District and Richie Hawtin's digressive and hypnotizing Plastikman moniker." Make sure to check out the massive epic of 'Asmoday' and the textural sophistication of 'Hooker'. ORPHAN SWORDS is a Brussels-based duo previously described as "Oppressive industrial techno/drone pressure", “industrialslanted techno” or “new school industrial” by Boomkat, XLR8R and The Quietus, They have played supports for Vatican Shadow, The Body, Black Rain, Kyoka etc.and more. After --- releases on Idiosyncratics, an EP called "Risk in a New Age" was released on Desire Records in june 2014, it features a collaboration with NYC cult band Ike Yard. "Stunners, the lot of them!" said JUNO about that release. Following this, upon request of Desire, they made an official rework of Ike Yard's NCR/Cherrish8!

The EP collates the three unreleased tracks included on the ‘La HOME Box’ set, which is Garnier’s latest album and his return to the legendary F Communications imprint.

In 1995, 2 years after "Nobody Knows...", they did some featurings on Mystik Journeymen's "Unsigned & Hella Broke Vol. 1" tape (prod by Sunspot Jonz of Living Legends). This wax is the real deal if you dig the real west coast shit before it turned into gangsta & commercial garbage. Tip!

Horus Records’ fifth release is the first production played and recorded at their studio ‘The Arch’ in Tottenham, North London. An all analogue affair, recorded with real instruments live and direct to tape, sounds pumped through homemade valve pre-amps and other equipment amassed over the last few years.A 2015 production, heavily influenced by Horus' love for the sonic qualities and approach of 1970’s reggae. Ronnie Davis shouldn’t need an introduction, considered one of the founding artists of reggae music. Starting off with legendary rocksteady and reggae group The Tennors, he remained a prominent force throughout the 70s working with producers such as Bunny Lee, Phil Pratt and Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, to create tracks that are still relevant today. On this release, his voice is as distinctive and strong as it ever was – with lyrics to match.

Following up the 10inch split of Austin’s Psych Nouveau godfathers The Black Angels and Italian “best kept Psych secret” Sonic Jesus, Fuzz Club Records are pleased to announce another amazing release from the Split Single Series. Number 6 will feature two of the greatest Noise Rock bands of the last three decades: A Place To Bury Strangers and The Telescopes. Arguably New York City’s “loudest” band, A Place To Bury Strangers released their fourth LP, Transfixation, in February this year. The unreleased new single, Down The Stairs, comes out in a time when the outfit, defined “the most ear-shatteringly loud garage/shoegaze band you’ll ever hear” by Washington Post, is trying to push the band’s recorded sound closer to the intense level of its infamous live shows. The Telescopes have been around since the glory days when the sonic rebel youth of Britain was gazing at its shoes, very much infatuated with the cathartic bliss of feedbacks and fuzz- boxes. A former Creation act, they have been around since 1988 and in constant creative flow and evolution. This time they pay tribute to one of the greatest Rock & Roll bands of all time, the Stooges, with a cover of I Wanna Be Your Dog.

To tie in with their summer tour, and to celebrate 50 years since
the release of ‘Satisfaction’, ABKCO/Universal Music is
celebrating this milestone with a limited, numbered 180-gram
12" reissue packaged in a larger replica of the original single art,
to be released on July 10, 2015, to coincide with the date the
song reached #1, and it will feature both b-side tracks from the
USA and UK releases, all remastered from the original mono
tapes.

Juan Sanchez delivers his first single on the raw sounding Drumcode Limited with two monster sounding tracks. Both tracks represent the gritty, tough side of the Drumcode spectrum and deliver two peak time tracks that will finish a dancefloor off. Using filtering hats, low end rumbles and outlandish beeps, Juan Sanchez encapsulates the sound of Drumcode Limited.

The title track “Coconut Paradise” is a masterclass in crisp, high-definition house, as dubby synths, a solid kick and an insistent bass stab form a deeply hypnotic groove. Sustained tones surge in from the distance - all the elements coming together to create a perpetual motion machine. “Thick As Mud” lives up to its name: this is house music that draws on the deep and deadly palette and spacious arrangements of dubstep and glitch, burnished with snickering percussive repetitions and scything synths. “Pants on Fire” is a restlessly inventive bricolage of unconventional percussive sounds and textures. Metallic tones ping and bounce deliciously in every direction. One EP. Three outstanding tunes.

Coming off his last record, ‘Nocturne’, Generation Next shows us that he has no plans in slowing down. Even though his last EP was impressive, ‘Ender’ just shows us how much this producer has evolved.

Joe Crow is a post-punk musician from Birmingham, England. He was a member of legendary Brum band The Prefects, and hung on long enough after the name-change to appear on a couple of early Nightingales singles. In 1981 Joe began his solo career and recorded a 2-song demo “Compulsion” and “Absent Friends”. Joe sent copies of the finished recordings to Cherry Red, who thanks to Lawrence of Felt, ended up releasing the single in 1982. An edited version of the single would later appear on the compilation “Pillows & Prayers” that collected songs which originated as 45s or EPs. Martin Gore of Depeche Mode subsequently covered “Compulsion” on his ‘Counterfeit’ EP in 1989 forever solidifying its status in the cannon of UK melancholic synth pop.
“Compulsion” and “Absent Friends” were originally intended as a double A-side. Composed, performed and recorded by Joe on an 8-track reel-to-reel at Sinewave Studio, Moseley Village in February 1981. Joe plays everything: guitar, bass, Boss Dr. Rhythm, Bee Gees Rhythm Machine, Wasp synthesizer, bongos stuffed with towels and an old tin tray for a snare drum. Everything was borrowed. “Compulsion” is an imaginary suicide note, a meditation on loss and grief. Its dark twin “Absent Friends” is an anti-song: no verses, choruses or middle-eight, some willfully odd chord progressions and plaintive yet melodic keyboard motif. Both songs are a spectral hybrid of alternating childlike and cynical vocals over lo-tech basement electronics with profound lyrics. This expanded 12” reissue adds 3 unreleased bonus tracks on the B-side taken from a mini-album of nine songs, recorded at the same time as “Compulsion”. Originally titled “Ken Blagdon Sings” with music by Joe Crow and lyrics by photographer Brendan Jackson, as a birthday present to the latter’s girlfriend, Jacqui Neave. The whole session lasted one day and the line up was Brendan Jackson (alias Ken Blagdon; vocals/percussion), Joe Crow (vocals/bass/guitar/Boss Dr. Rhythm/Wasp synthesizer), Mark Rowson (drums), Helen Rowson (alto saxophone), Eamonn Duffy (Nightingales bassist; squawks) and Legs Akimbo (technicals).
All songs have been remastered from the original master tapes for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The jacket is an exact replica of the 1982 edition enlarged for the 12” format, featuring front and back photos of Joe from a dawn beach shoot at Hayling Island, Hampshire, England. Each copy includes a two-sided newsprint insert with lyrics, never-before-seen photos and liner notes by Joe Crow and Robert Lloyd of the Nightingales. These songs are perfect new wave / post-punk tracks, full of attitude and dark romanticism.

Victor Calderone has a very colourful history within the music scene working with the likes of Sting acting on Madonna's recommendation to remix 'Desert Rose' after also remixed Madonna's 'Frozen'. Having previously worked with Nicole Moudaber, they released a joint EP on Drumcode named, 'The Journey Begins' to great success. As a solo artist and DJ, Victor has been a resident at Roxy in New York and Liquid in Miami and has been working in the music industry since the early 90's to great success. Victor Calderone has stepped up for his first solo release on Drumcode with his two track single, 'Burden'. Featuring two energetic tracks, 'Skin' and 'Burden', Victor has used effected vocals to create funky rhythms over the top of some steaming kick drums. The synth stabs lend themselves well across this EP particularly in 'Burden' where they really augment the flow of the track. The use of percussion phrases throughout both tracks on the single also reinforces the grooves and adds character to create a distinctive sound that keeps the single fresh and exciting.

The aptly-titled ‘Raw Materials’ sees Marquis Hawkes making a welcome return to the primitive house rhythms for which he became known via his early work for Dixon Avenue Basement Jams.
