WotNot are proud to unveil another new exciting artist, songwriter/producer William Florelle, who follows in the footsteps of previous debutantes like K15 (who features here), Glenn Astro, Deft and many other now established (or quickly establishing) artists. The Will Flo project aims to deliver unique collaborations with each output, evolving to suit the combined inspiration of William and his collaborators. While he names a staggering variety of musical styles among his influences, this release takes the form of a highly swung, left-field R&B, with jazz and afro-beat influences. Think 22a with more pronounced R&B flavours.

Volume 2 continues in this vein with a new pick 'n' mix bag of feel-good crowd-pleasers from EVM128, Body-san, Danvers and Galactic Ganesh, while Volume 1 also receives a long overdue (limited) press to vinyl, with a new added track from SexRulesEverything.

Every once in a while, there comes an artist who taps into the zeitgeist of music while injecting a lethal dose of individuality at the same time. Glenn Astro's brand of 80s-and-90s-inspired house and hip hop contains an organic glow, a glorious shuffle, which sets the Essen-based producer aside from his contemporaries. With releases on Big Bait, Odd Socks and Ritmo Sportivo, Glenn has made fans of the likes of Move D, DJ EZ, Casino Times and Medlar, whose killer remix features on this release alongside a dark stomper from Deft.

Well well well, what have we here then? The folk from KAT come up with a might nice surprise brining us a name we haven't seen or heard for a good while, Domu. Domu is a name synonymous with the Broken beat scene (still bubbling away folks) and everything he touched oozed pure quality. No exception here with a couple of big re-edits that are taken from the Japa-nese only release (and uber rare) ESP DJ Classics Vol 2: Domu's Disco Jazz released back in 2009. The Emotions, Love Vibes has been sampled a good few times before, a couple of re-edits have reared their heads but none go anywhere near Domu's wonderful take on this Jazz Funker. The tempo is taken up a notch or three, we have an arrangement to die for and just listen out for the filters - cheeky! On the flip we have a mighty edit of Claudia Barry's Give it Up, originally out in 1978 and taken from the 'I Wanna Be Loved By You' album. Funked up Disco with a killer groove, raunchy guitars and aching sassy vocals to boot. So good to see this finally out on vinyl. Stop what you're doing right now, you've just found that record that stays with you all summer. The record to soundtrack the BBQ, to gently raise the energy on a hazy evening, to baffle the midnight marauders into dancefloor destruction, to give the early morning ravers that extra kick. That 'one more song'. WotNot have spent the last two years on a mission to prove that intelligent music can be footloose and fun. This release marks a milestone in this mission, with possibly the most complex bass line to ever stick in your head, from a man whose every DJ set serves as an education as much as a liberation. A man with a hunger for new records that has seen him included as a featured Bandcamp fan alongside the likes of Gilles Peterson. K15 is known to many musical worlds; a go-to on the UK soul/jazz circuit, with production on Belle's Lapwing EP, and DJ sets supporting the likes of Bilal and Marsha Ambrosius; a figure on the beat scene with his hypnotic instrumental tapes; and spinner of infectious dancefloor oddities old and new across London. This EP presents yet another facet, the soulful, jazz-inflected house that has had man-of-the moment Kyle Hall all ashiver. Bordeaux has all the sophistication the name implies, a delicious bubbling bass line with subtle notes of garage and building layers of improvisation providing an earthy jazz undertone. Broken beat legend Kaidi Tatham builds on the chord progression in his soul-laden rework, with light-footed percussion adding brightness to his famously refined palette. House rising stars Glenn Astro & IMYRMIND add body to the original in their rejig, fierce swinging house with sermon-like vocal cuts raising the potency to a powerful climax.

Both artist and label have forayed further into dance styles, they have maintained the spirit of soulful eclecticism. The hip hop/beats roots this is based in are apparent on this release in the warm, jazzy Disco Tempo Cliche Intro and Good Bye Song (Spirit Dance).Love Is Gone pairs Astro's signature bumpy house swing with a distinctive synth hook and a subtle use of vocals. Henry Wu delivers a delightful, jazz-tinged synth-funk flip, offering a tantalising glimpse of what's to come from the 22a artist later this year.User's Guide To is the ultimate tutorial in dusty house, with rolling layers of percussion over smooth synth chords, while regular Astro collaborator IMYRMIND injects his signature swagger and playful edge into Gemini.All-in-all a great record to kick off a year that will see new records from K15, Kab Driver, Alphabets Heaven, and some new faces on WotNot.

Anything this magician puts out has a pretty good chance of getting you pregnant right in the good old music hole. Says it all really.Emeralds opens with bubbling synths, building into epic space-station jungle juke with haunting toplines and heart-shaking bass. Cavernous electronic atmospheres introduce A Little Kiss, which interleaves percussion and stuttering bass with the incredible attention to detail we've come to know and love.Octavia is a feisty younger sister to Loqux & Past, the Maya Jane Coles-championed hit from his Space Hardware EP; warm, headnod house joined by a SHOWER bass-line that roundhouse kicks its older sibling in the face for hogging the limelight. Maintaining the hyper vibes, Perky couples spiky footwork beats with slowly-evolving chords creating euphoric rises and falls, leading perfectly to the epic reflection of closing interlude On The Other Side. All in all, Deft is an artist who continues to develop in awesome and interesting ways, increasingly able to balance striking dance music with immersive ambience. And finding his path with similarly ambitious labels like WotNot, there's a not-too-distant future where Deft no longer worries that it's always greener on the other side.
