It takes a lot to achieve the status of legendary or era defining in dance music, its sands shift so quickly artists, genres and labels have often come and gone before you realise. So it's with some pride and deserved justification that Yoshitoshi marks its 20th anniversary with celebratory remix packages of its most iconic tracks.Already riding high in the Beatport charts with the success of the Uto Karem and Robosonic mixes of Eddie Amadors House Music, the latter of which has spent the past month in the overall top 5, the label now plans a one, two punch with the follow-up: Alcatraz seminal Giv Me Luv.We thought long and hard about how we scheduled this 20th anniversary project, says label boss Sharam, little point launching big and then following up with a whimper so we deliberately chose Alcatraz for this difficult task. But the challenge didnt end there; a massive record still deserves a massive remix and I think its safe to say we found the perfect woman for the job...Step forward undisputed techno titan Nicole Moudaber who leapt at the opportunity to remix the track.Ive got so many fond memories of Giv Me Luv, it was one of my favourite tunes from my formative clubbing days, recalls Nicole happily, so, when Yoshi mentioned the idea of me remix-ing it I just couldn't say no.In fact I was so familiar with Alcatraz I was already awash with ideas of what I could, or should, do with it.As I got into the mix one of those ideas just grew and grew, namely an extended breakdown that constantly builds; layering the memorable vocal to an intense pay-off and (hopeful) moment of real dancefloor drama. Nicoles humble description doesn't quite do the end result justice, which is a modern, masterful take on the classic. Her iconic techno beats, dark twisted stabs and arrangement of that bassline drive toward the mentioned break, which will undoubtedly rival the fireworks of any impending NYE celebrations. In fact, expect this track to be THE soundtrack to many a dance floor come the all-important hand-over to 2015. And, just in case that weren't enough, Yoshi has also secured the skills of Tent Cantrelle to deliver the perfect deep house foil to Nicoles techno ferocity as Sharam concludes, We wanted a real slice of contemporary funk from the companion mix.Yoshi is synonymous with exploring the line between deep house and techno, perhaps no more so than during its formative years, so this re-mix completes the package perfectly.

The next Yoshitoshi Classic is here and it's a heavy one - Dino Lenny's "I Feel Stereo." Anyone on the scene in 2001, when this monster tune was originally released, remembers its pulsing rhythms and ear-catching vocal hook. Seventeen years later, "I Feel Stereo" is back with three remixes from some of the finest artists around.Steve Lawler (working here as Lawler) has crafted a badass, bassline-driven house track that pummels with all the energy of the original. Steve continues his reign as as key innovator in dance music, modernizing this classic with unquestionable finesse. The Red Axes boys deliver their silky smooth brand of minimal house with a variety of distorted arpeggio riffs, futuristic chimes, and other left-field sounds that make their remix truly unique. It's another ace production from the Israeli duo.Last but certainly not least, up-and-comer Frankyeffe, who delivered the goods on his collaborative Splitting Minds EP with Loco & Jam last fall, serves up some impeccably produced techno for big, loud rooms. The Italian phenom's mix is absolute savagery. Of course, it wouldn't be a Yoshi Classic pack without a remastered original mix.

Continuously reimagining his sound and style, the Grammy-winning artist Sharam digsdeep into his bag of production tricks for his new project Collecti, drawing heavily from the darker influences of techno. The album is comprised of a host of new material that he has been field testing with incredible response. "Collecti is a culmination of work that represents my endeavors into a sound that has always been near and dear to my heart and central to my sets: Techno. For my last album Retroactive, I was fixated on all of my influences over the years, for this album, however, my focus is on the darker realms. These records are my dance floor experiments, my secret weapons, tracks that have been driving my sets and I'm excited to share this body of work with everyone." - Sharam‘Spaci' is the closest the album gets to house territory, with a groovy bassline and scattering drum fills, while a remastered version of Sharam's 2010 tour de force 'Hemi' populates this single's B-side, a spastic eight-minute epic that pits chaotic synth squeals and chopped up noise against trudging, liquified bass.

Its roaring vocal-synth riffs and heavy bass line have become one of Sharam's secret peak-time tools, so much so that he's almost reluctant sharing it. 'Mini' is more subdued, channeling some Maurizio influence with a long, continuously-modulating riff and tripped-out sounds.

Aaaron is a producer that's been on our radar for a long time. As demonstrated by his beautiful and stripped back recent work for Connected, Aaaron's tracks have developed a certain maturity that has become impossible to ignore.Following that signature style, the grooves on Black Arp, his debut EP for Yoshitoshi, flow smartly from his experiences in Berlin's minimal techno/tech house scene. Never too abrupt or intense, Black Arp and Keep Doin It are versatile tracks for many different atmospheres and set styles. Like much of his music, the percussion throughout features elements of tribal house, producing a playful energy and an extra level of accessibility.Additionally, we're very excited to welcome DJ T., another respected Berliner who really needs no introduction, to the label for the first time. He gives the EP a rough edge with this remix of Black Arp. The distorted synth leads and stabs here filter in and out over a driving tech house groove, giving the release a peak-time option for those in need.

Yes, we're back at it again with more Eddie Amador. After the success of House Music and Rise, we decided to diversify and go for a double A sided remix package with two distinctly different remixers. So please welcome Ardalan and CJ Jeff to the Yoshitoshi family!Given Ardalan's propensity for booty basslines and infectious grooves, Psycho X Girlfriend seemed like the appropriate choice for the Dirtybird affiliate. He flipped the tracked on its head by pumping it full of sub 100 Hz frequencies, mental sound effects, and even a pinch of acid. The remix again shows this young gun's talent for creating bona fide bangers that keep the spirit of house alive.Greek house don CJ Jeff took on 6AM, the groovy and oft-overlooked 2006 wee hours anthem from Amador. His remix bears a massive 808 kick that floors the mix (no pun intended) into overdrive. His simple, catchy melodies capture the classic Yoshitoshi vibe beautifully.
