Norwegian bassist, composer and producer Jo Berger Myhre has long thrived on collaboration, bringing his distinctive voice to a wide variety of adventurous projects. He is best known as one-third of the exploratory electro-acoustic trio Splashgirl and a member for the last seven years of the Nils Petter Molvær Quartet, with whom he's recorded and co-produced two albums: 2016's Buoyancy and this summer's Stitches. He's also a frequent duo partner of multi-instrumentalist Olafur Björn Olafsson and has performed and/or recorded with the likes of Mariam the Believer, Jenny Hval & Susanna, Geir Sundstol and Finland, the improvising alt-rock quartet of Pål Hausken, Morten Qvenild, Ivar Grydeland and Myhre.Now, Myhre makes his solo debut with the release of the captivating and mysterious Unheimlich Manoeuvre, The title is an obvious play on the life-saving technique, though whether the added negation makes the threatening or simply subverted remains ambiguous. More to the point, the English translation of unheimlich is "uncanny" or "eerie" - an apt descriptor for the sounds that Myhre creates. To borrow a phrase from David Lynch's Twin Peaks, Myhre conjures aural landscapes that suggest "a place both wonderful and strange," stunning in their beauty with something alluringly unsettling lurking just Underneath.

Like most young musicians, Mike Huguenor got his first guitar before he was a teenager, and like all good punks do, he started his first band shortly thereafter. Since then, he’s played with a who’s who of punk and indie bands such as Classics Of Love, Hard Girls, Shinobu, Jeff Rosenstock, Dan Andriano In The Emergency Room, The Bruce Lee Band, and Kitty Kat Fan Club, just to name a few. Over the years, Huguenor has played a lot of guitar and written a ton of songs for a lot of different bands, but with X’ed, his first solo LP, he’s doing something totally new. The 10 tracks that make up X’ed are all instrumental, and every sound you hear on the record was made with a guitar. That’s not to say it’s a non-stop shred fest. Instead, it’s the next step in the evolution of a songwriter who found himself without a band to play with. “The album title comes from every band I’ve ever been in being gentrified out of San Jose,” says Huguenor. “Because all those other people were X’ed out, it was just me and my guitar. So it was like, ‘What if I created the music that would be for a band, but the band is just me and my guitar now?’

This album was originally composed in October 2017, performed and recorded live in Kasteliotissa Medieval Hall, Nicosia, on the 19th of November 2017 as an accompanying soundtrack to Fritz Lang's two hour-long edit of the film Metropolis (1927). Commissioned by the the curators of the 'German expressionism in Cinema exhibition' to compose and perform a live soundtrack, Panagiotis and Yiannis employed a hardware heavy arsenal to produce one of their longest pieces. modular synthesizers, guitars, drum samplers and drum machines are all protagonists. The performance lasted for two hours and was recorded in its entirety. It was later edited down to preserve all sound design qualities and a somewhat live feel. The title is an homage to the main actress of the film.

Panagiotis Mina and Yiannis Eliades, longstanding members of 'do it together' collective Honest Electronics and producers of their own material as Panayotis and Isel respectively, often collaborate on projects such as Brigitte. Panagiotis Mina is a producer, musician and visual artist. He lives and works in Cyprus from Pyrgatory studios, his out in the country home diy studio project. Yiannis Eliades produces and performs music using a blend of analog and digital synthesizers, drum machines and twisted recordings, on his own or as part of duos (myhn, Carnal Throes).

It’s been ten years since Adrian Gachet first ventured into electronic soundscapes under his Bajram Bili moniker. On wax, the project started with the romantic label Another Record with the Sequenced Fog EP and his dance-kraut manifest of a debut album Saturdays With No Memory. The affair became more muscular with the acquaintance of the Neo Punks from Le Turc Mecanique. After a first warning with the break-heavy Distant Drone (with the banger ‘Roger and Stan’) and the blasting Need Meditation, the Remembered Waves LP is released, oscillating between ecstatic urgency and foggy electric landscapes. The following Spin / Consequence was dedicated to the drills of seminal techno giving way to the quieter Reshaped Distortion EP on Chloe’s label Lumière Noire. Those years of intense creation, massive live sets and federating DJ sets come together in today’s new research, mixing the experience of his epic machinery with the deviation of the acoustic piano, following the aesthetic of his new record Detuning Euphoria.

"Alternative Hip Hop Artist Rebel ACA Channels his Pain in ""Migraine"" ft. Spragga Benz, Rodney P
LONDON - The word ""migraine"" can make you twinge, especially if you experience the pounding head, vertigo, and tinnitus associated with migraines. Imagine if you put all those feelings into music - that is what Rebel ACA did with his latest single, ""Migraine.""

Rebel ACA's new single flows through his twenty-year journey of advising on international tax by day and rapping and producing by night. Perhaps, the ACA stands for his accounting qualification.

Dropping in April, there will be two versions, an original version and a DJ Phantasy Remix of ""Migraine"" on streaming platforms. Depending on the version, ""Migraine"" is a musical representation of a severe headache. The drum and bass mix features a funky, constant drone throughout the track, while the original version is a funk-latent hip-hop song.

""I suffer very badly from migraines every week,"" said Rebel ACA. ""To me, it was logical to write a song about migraines. The lyrics talk about what it feels like by using synthesizers to bring out the feeling of a migraine.""

Joining Rebel ACA on the single is Spragga Benz and Rodney P. The duo shares their thoughts on using marijuana to cure a migraine. While Rebel ACA acknowledges he is not a medical doctor, studies have shown that smoking weed can reduce migraine pain.

""We talk about smoking weed to fight the migraine,"" he said. ""The lyrics revolve around what it feels like to have one in your head. Doctors have told me that migraines are caused by triggers like alcohol and getting f*cked up. Then you get a migraine and now you get more f*cked up on pills or weed to feel better."" This revolving cycle spirals throughout the single.

Born and raised in the UK, Rebel ACA experienced London's musical melting pot from birth. Hailing from northwest London, he was exposed to the rich Caribbean influence and massive underground music scene.

From squat parties to illegal raves, London's music was all mashed up, and Rebel ACA soaked up every genre and cultural influence. As a result, he is a successful singer/songwriter/producer who fuses hip hop, reggae, and indie sounds to create his unique style.

""Where I come from, the UK hip hop is like the 90s hip hop in America,"" he stated. ""There is a hip hop scene that talks about poetry. I'm trying to keep it real with my lyrics and talk about things that are important other than guns, money, and bitches.""

Rebel ACA's music is versatile but uniquely his own by utilizing numerous live instruments and coming in hard with a big boom-bap sound. It’s been a while since we last heard from Steve Summers, one of the many musical aliases of former Brooklyn and Berlin resident turned Chicago-based producer Jason Letkiewicz. When he last landed on proudly Chicagoan imprint Clear with the robust and unearthly “Artificial Light” EP, it was on the back of nine years spent building up Steve Summers as a purveyor of forthright club cuts that pushed at the limits of acceptability. That was 2017. In the three years since, Letkiewicz has prioritized projects that indulge different sides of his complex musical persona. There was the critically acclaimed, all-action Mutant Beat Dance “record album booklet” on Rush Hour – a collaboration with Melvin Oliphant III and Beau Wanzer – and then the EBM, electro and industrial-influenced grooves of Opposing Currents on Artificial Dance. 2018 also saw him release the sophomore set from his 1980s horror soundtrack-infused Death Commando project, while in 2019 Letkiewicz finally put out his first album under his given name – the picturesque new age and ambient movements of “The Reflecting Pool” on Into The Light. But that was then. Now Letkiewicz has finally donned the Steve Summers pseudonym again for a return to Clear that’s defiantly intense and otherworldly in tone, “Counter-Factuals” is powered primarily by the kind of psychedelic acid lines and thrusting machine drums that have long been a hallmark of Chicago house. This is no nostalgia-fest though, with Letkiewicz’s take on “acid” being more abstract and unorthodox than the music of his predecessors. Proof of this analysis arrives straight away, with EP opener “Counter- Factuals” ratcheting up the intensity through waves of hallucinatory acid lines, blunted electronics, druggy male vocal samples and clanking machine beats. Letkiewicz takes similar sonic approach on “People Watching”, whose full-throttle approach cuts a path through jacking acid house, surging EBM and the more dystopian aspects of 1980s industrial music. Over on side B, Letkiewicz combines all of these sounds and inspirations on a cut that pivots around the twin attractions of trance-inducing acid lines and hypnotic analogue beats. Clocking in at a fraction less than nine minutes, the track surges forward relentlessly on a tornado of off-key electronics, fizzing Tb-303 acid lines and barely audible speech snippets. It seems a fitting conclusion to one of Letkiewicz’s most impactful releases to date.

A project based variously in the Midwest, the Bay Area, and currently Nashville, Stacian has produced two full length LP’s, a smattering of EP’s, including the very recent “x2020” EP (Death Decay Magic, 2020) and now Fractal ID: an album that deconstructs and expands upon the cold-wave refinements and dystopian soundscapes of its predecessors “Songs for Cadets” (Moniker, 2012) and “Person L” (Night School, 2017). Stacian is a longtime vehicle for dance floor alchemist, electronic artist, and producer Dania Luck, who delivers for Chicago’s Clear a collection that synthesizes a wide breadth of influences; from varying strains of minimal wave, to the darker baroque flourishes of German new-wave and post-industrial— all while scavenging the displaced futurism of early analog electronic music. From the glam-spattered invocation of “Dance With Me” to the frenzied snare-hits of “Read Me”, to the post-industrial stomp of “We Are War”; Fractal ID unfolds like a map of hypnagogic states. By the time we reach “The Well” and “Idea of Home” a trapdoor in the dance floor has opened to an otherworldly abyss, where pulsating analog beats materialize, and glimmering arpeggiations illuminate the icy well of our shared technological isolation. Stacian’s Fractal ID is a propulsive and perilous journey to the depths, of dynamic rhythmic modulations and expansive sonic textures; a lone ray of light that bounces and refracts along the cavernous sub-levels of the club floor.

The label Program and Control debut EP is a split between brazilian artists MacroAssembler and Data Assault featuring a remix from RHR. “If you slide in on Bisk’s homepage, you will see at the very top it says “Good Electronic Music” – a brave, and foremost, true statement. Being an active producer since 1996 Bisk has released seven albums, and after a 12-year hiatus he returned again in 2012. Bisk’s eighth album is Vacation Package on Ominira.

Vacation Package consists of eight eclectic tracks, their origins being traced back to several performances taking place at radical live music venue Forestlimit, Tokyo, in late 2019 and early 2020. Reinterpreted, reconstructed, sawed into pieces, Bisk presents his own fragmented interstellar funk: ultramodern yet effortlessly cool and timeless, with a slight relaxed nonchalance. Warm, groovy basslines centering stretched out cosmic colours, gliding melodies and vocals. Bisk’s play with rhythms and his intense, at times rather sparse, drops of beats makes the pace so speedy that, contrary, the record seems to go in ultrarapid - taped so fast it actually plays to the listener in slow motion. Bisk presents a sincere and emotive collection of work with Vacation Package. Funky and slick, without the cheese.”
