Antoni Maovvi and Vercetti Technicolor's Giallo Disco label has always been a decent source of John Carpenter and Italo-inspired horror disco. Here they offer a debut to Parisian horror-synth fetishists The Hunt. There's naturally much to admire, from the intense, "Escape From New York" style thematic pump of "Angoisse" and the sweeping, slo-mo chug of "Brain Test", to the glistening, Carpenter-on-steroids throb of "The Abonination". Check, too, the thunderous analogue botton-end and pulsating alien funk synthesizers of "The Survivor". Arguably best of all, though, is the immersive, almost dreamy feel of the brilliant "Mutation". It is, though, all rather good.
