"The Baltimore Archives 1993-1996" project includes unreleased and unleaked joints from the FunkieAve Productions' vault, all produced by Baltimore Hip Hop producer and MC Jay Funk. Famed for his production of local artists such as Mr.Rukkuz, Kmack, L-Fly, Infinite Description, S.C.U, Labtekwon, Amp Boogie, NormSkola, Pat Leach as well as his own group Da Ghetto Connect, Jay was the go-to producer for that 90's, raw Hip Hop sound! Recording at the family owned,TicToc Studios in Baltimore, Jay made the most out of limited resources by using two ADAT players simultaneously to create 16 audio tracks as well as sampling on his trusty Eps16. Cats knew where to go to get their demos recorded and Jay worked day and night on the boards. When he wasn't producing for other acts, he was recording a host of tracks for his own group Ghetto Connect which included himself on the mic as well as MC JD. Inspired by acts like EPMD, Gang Starr and the Wu Tang Clan, The GC would break the rules any chance they got - whether it was sonically, timing-wise or production-wise, they always tried to keep shit FRESH!! Most of their material hasn't been released until now and this EP includes 5 tracks by the group as well a very early demo by S.C.U. and joints by L Fly & Bugga and K-Mack.
