Nothing further can be asked of an artist by a record label than what Philou Louzolo has delivered to TINK! Music in the past year. After "Zolo Grooves" sold out with four classic status cuts, the african descendent based in Rotterdam has seemed to achieve the impossible and topped his incredible EP from 2015 with a second attack, four more tracks that are pure party fire! "Afrifuturism" drips with musical knowledge, oozes with talent and perfumes the air with immense sensitivity. Tracks like "Mali Baba" and "Ngaa Ngaa" stomp a killer club beat on top of african chants and funky afro jazz grooves in a way that sounds both unique and familiar, while "Iyami Aye" delivers the hypnotic beat stomp with tribal undertones, perfect for late hours and dark corners. The final piece "Nyara Nyara" flows with an amazing beat pattern, both syncopated and polyrhythmic, with the rare and unlikely capacity of sounding different and still promising to be a brutal club moment for the intrepid disk jockey. Consistent, creative and original, the work of Philou has seen him go from strength to strength, and Afrifuturism is surely a stand out release from this promising rising star.
