Die 1991 in Umeå, Schweden gegründete Band Refused ist ohne Zweifel die wichtigste europäische Hardcore-Band aller Zeiten und eine der einflussreichsten Rock-Bands der frühen 00er Jahre. Künstler wie Linkin Park, Steve Aoki, Frank Turner oder Duff McKagan haben das Genre-sprengende Meisterwerk "The Shape Of Punk To Come" von 1998 als fundamentalen Einfluss auf das eigene Schaffen ausgemacht. Und sowieso, "The Shape Of Punk To Come" veränderte alles. Selten war ein Hardcore-Album so smart und vielschichtig. Elektronik, Jazz-Einflüsse. Ein Meilenstein.
