Academy Merchandise

Academy LPs is a New York-based record label specializing in releasing reissues and rarities. Founded in 1977 by Alan Weiner, »Academy« used to be a book store. Joseph Ga Nun was an employee at the Academy book store right from the beginning. It was him that opened up the record store Academy Records & CDs in Flatiron Disctrict in 1996. Over the years Ga Nun and his partner Mike Davis opened up the record stores Academy LPs in East Village and Academy Annex in Williamsburg, which are still institutions for New York’s vinyl lovers. Using their knowledge about good and especially rare music, they finally founded the record label Academy LPs that achieved a good reputation within a few years by releasing reissues and rarities.
