The term 'classic' is often tossed around casually, particularly when reminiscing about the golden era of Hip Hop and its iconic tracks. However, in this instance, B-Boy and Empire Slate proudly unveil the release of a true gem from 1987, deserving of the 'classic' label. The original mix, a masterpiece that had never before seen a 7 inch release, is now finally available after over 35 years in the making, condensed to fit on a ’45, still with all that glorious and fluid rap that defined the original is fully preserved for all to throwdown. Remastered for 2024 on heavyweight 7 inch vinyl and delivered in Those B-Boy Records sleeves and labels.

KRS-One and his original band Boogie down Productions are amongst a small collective of genre-making, scene building pioneers of this thing we call Hip Hop, and Poetry and 9mm are amongst 2 of their early works of wonder. The 1987 jam 'Poetry' famously became the beat basis and was sampled (twice!) in MF Doom's 'Doomsday', of which original copies change hands for £200+. It’s flipped by the earlier monster 'My 9mm Goes Bang', which along with tracks by Schooly D and Ice T, can be seen as an early foray into gangster rap, albeit it, from that NYC angle. Original mixes are remastered for 2024, all housed the legendary B-Boy labels and sleeves.

Celebrating the 30th Anniversary of Beastie Boys’ 2X Platinum Check Your Head album, this limited-edition deluxe reissue is a rare version of the album that was released as a limited run in 2009. Long out-of-print and sought after by fans and collectors, it features two bonus LP’s including remixes, live versions, and B-sides. Featuring the songs ‘So What’cha Want’, ‘Pass the Mic’ and ‘Gratitude’ - Check Your Head was a somewhat return to their punk roots and introduced the trio playing their own instruments for the first time on record since their early EP’s. This 4LP Deluxe Box Set is pressed on 180g vinyl housed in a fabric-wrapped, stamped hardcover case.

German Electrofunk purist CeeOnic checks in with Ground Control. Originally released on the label of Miami Bass legend Debonaire, the two crisp and powerful productions perfectly catch the vibe of 1980s Electro classics by the likes of Egyptian Lover, Pretty Tony or World Class Wreckin' Cru, taking it into the 21st century.

Swedish Synthwave producer Tape Loader and Canadian rapper Phatt Rok Ski team up for the grand opening of the new old school Electro Funk and Bass Music label Ground Control. Featured in three DJ-friendly versions on this release, the song “Prime Time” is pure Electro Hip Hop power with funky beats, a fat bassline, a catchy vintage synth melody hook and rap delivered in early 1980s style. Fresssh!

Hailing from downtown Los Angeles, Nuklear Prophet, aka Erik Villalpando, is heavily influenced by West Coast Hip Hop and Electro. Winning multiple DJ awards, including 3x World Records DJ Competition under his DJ Dope-E alias, Villalpando cites his inspiration as coming from some of the most influential Los Angeles DJs of his childhood, including Tony G, DJ Joe Cooley, Julio G, and DJ Aladdin.
With releases on Urban Connections, Abseits Recordings, Diffuse Reality and Bass Agenda Recordings as Nuklear Prophet, the LA-based DJ/producer readies his full-length album 'Prophecies 11:21' for Utrecht-based U-Trax. Formed of an eclectic and energetic collection of gems mined from his overwhelming archive, the album takes in genres such as Electro, Hip Hop, Footwork, Juke, and beyond. Leading the release is the 808 luminary Egyptian Lover's remix of 'L.A. Rockz', featured on the recently released 'L.A. Rockz' EP, kicking off the LP with his trademark 808-infused sound. A nod to Detroit-flavoured Electro is presented via the dark and brooding tracks 'Nuklear Prophet' and 'Compton', with the lighter atmospherics of the genre covered on 'Solar Winds'. The pounding electro killer '808 Plague' sounds like it came straight from the sewers of The Hague. Moving across a spectrum of tempos, styles, and moods across the album, exemplified on the sluggish trip-hop of 'The Mars Goblin', Nuklear Prophet expertly touches on a range of bass-driven genres, displaying his widespread influences and knack for hard-hitting production throughout.

‘Other Worlds’ delves into a mishmash of drum and bass, hip-hop, electronica, dub, breakbeat and everything in between.
