Six years before the release of his landmark Mother Earth's Plantasia LP, composer and arranger Mort Garson met experimental film director Skip Sherwood, who was interested in an electronic score for his new movie, Didn't You Hear? While not much is known now about the exact nature of their collaboration, we have Garson's magnificent score as a record of those heady, early days after his life-changing discovery of the Moog synthesizer. Notable for being one of the earliest screen appearances by a young Gary Busey, Didn't You Hear? also boasts one of the first-ever all-electronic movie scores. Though the score was first released in 1970, it sounds as adventurous and futuristic today as it must have then. Originally available only in the lobby of the theater at screenings of the movie in Seattle, the soundtrack LP went out of print shortly after the film's release. It has been a sought-after record for collectors of Mort Garson and early electronic music ever since. Sacred Bones is honored to reissue Didn't You Hear? as it was meant to be heard, taken from the original master tapes and given a pristine remaster by engineer Josh Bonati. Morton S. "Mort" Garson was a Canadian-born composer, arranger, songwriter, and pioneer of electronic music. He is best known for his albums in the 1960s and 1970s that were among the first to feature Moog synthesizers. His best-known album is Mother Earth's Plantasia, a 1976 Moog album designed to be played "for plants and the people who love them." Sacred Bones Records has undertaken the project of giving official, licensed reissues to key releases from Mort Garson's catalog, with the intention of bringing these bold masterpieces to a 21st century audience.

"Rob wanted the world of The Northman to feel harsh and uncomfortable, and for everything to feel like it was caked in mud and dry blood, so it was crucial for the score to mirror that." Composers Robin Carolan (Tri-Angle Records) and Sebastian Gainsborough (Vessel) were given a task of epic proportions when director Rob Eggers (The VVitch, The Lighthouse) asked them to create the score for his ambitious and highly anticipated new film The Northman, releasing on April 22nd. They needed to make a score that both honored the immense research that had gone into the authenticity of this Viking era period piece and complimented the cinematic maximalism of the film for a modern audience. The artists stretched themselves to the depths of their creativity and the resulting album is a gorgeous sonic tableaux that places the listener right in the center of the film. While arranging the score the composers consulted musician and ethnographer Poul Hoxbro for inspiration and insight into the history of Viking music. Having backgrounds in left field electronic music, Robin and Sebastian felt liberated by the constraint of using a small selection of musical tools for this piece. "Electronic music has almost limitless potential when it comes to making sounds and that's obviously an incredible thing, but you can also go down the wormhole and get lost in it sometimes. There's no risk of that happening when you only have a few primary instruments to draw upon." Robin remarked. They utilized traditional instruments such as the tagelharpa, langspil, kravik lyre, and säckpip to build the cinematic world of The Northman but they also took creative freedoms in adding instruments likes drums, which some academics believe wouldn't have played a big part in Viking musical culture, simply due to the lack of archaeological evidence of actual drums. "One of the pieces we wrote was intended to emulate the sound of a bullroarer; an ancient instrument used in sacred rituals or in battle to intimidate enemies. It makes a really disorienting roaring vibrato sound and low frequencies capable of traveling insane distances." Robin says when asked about one of the more unique aspects of the score. Everyone involved put so much effort into both their research and their creativity and this richness is evident in every track. The album as a whole is a cinematic masterpiece of sound and ambiance, both gorgeous and disturbing, like the film it so beautifully accompanies.

Piero Umiliani was already forward in building completely new sounds in the late Seventies. “Tra Scienza E Fantascienza” finds his alter ego Moggi experimenting with alternative grooves, electronic music, jazz tunes and soundtrack motifs. One of the most interesting music libraries in the Italian composer's discography, reissued with a new remastering by Musica Per Immagini, is in full harmony with its title.
Science fiction has opened up our eyes to a variety of scenarios, possible or impossible, sometimes with a happy ending, sometimes apocalyptic, at times familiarly near, more often disarmingly far away, and always capable of inspiring our imagination. For the histrionic artist, it took, perhaps, less of a cosmic leap to create this masterpiece. Centred on the cover, a strange creature with only one eye, its hands on a beaker containing a mysterious red liquid. To its right, a symbolic circle is imprinted on a sandy surface, and three bizarre constructions, similar to the volumetric flasks found in a laboratory, of differing heights and shapes. There is a strange blue planet in the distance.

Lovecraft Country is an American horror drama television series based on and serving as a continuation of the 2016 novel of the same name. The series follows a young black man who travels across the segregated United States in the 1950’s in search of his missing father, learning of dark secrets plaguing a town on which famous horror writer H.P. Lovecraft based the location of many of his fictional tales.. This begins a struggle to survive and overcome the racist horrors of Jim Crow era America and terrifying monsters that could be ripped from a Lovecraft paperback novel.

Showrunner Misha Green asked composers Laura Karpman and Raphael Saadiq to capture a sound she coined ‘gothic R&B,’ which the pair flawlessly produced, combining influences from J Dilla, 1960’s string work, & 18th century classical. Karpman describes the score as “the Twilight Zone meets Raphael Saadiq.”

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Karpman and Saadiq faced many challenges creating the score, but agree that ultimately, they wouldn’t have gotten the extraordinary sound they achieved had they undergone the traditional recording process. To achieve the full orchestra sound the creators wanted during the height of the pandemic, each member of the orchestra had to learn how to use pro-tools in order to record themselves while isolating in their own homes all over the world. To ensure the best sound quality, everything was close-miked, giving the score period authenticity by using the same techniques composers like Bernard Hermann (Psycho, Taxi Driver)l & Jerry Goldsmith (Planet of the Apes) would have used in the 1950’s and 60’s. Additionally, the musicians had no conductor, so Karpman relied heavily on music notation to achieve ‘aleatoric music’ or ‘chance music,’ which is usually attained directly from conductor cues.

Alexei Fedorovic Vlassov, colonel of Soviet espionage, escapes at Orly airport from two officials from his country who were boarding him on a plane to Moscow and seeks political asylum in the United States. Transported from Paris to New York, he reveals - after being subjected to the "lie detector" test - the names of some Soviet spies nested in NATO's high command and in the French secret service. As soon as the head of the CIA ("Allen Davies") reveals the names of the double agents to his European colleagues, a wave of alleged suicides ensue. Only two English spies (who Davies added to the list on his own initiative) and the Frenchman Berthon are saved, by taking refuge in Russia. The escape of the two Britons (whose names were known only to Philip Boyle, an intelligence officer) allows Davies to discover the truth. Ennio Morricone collaborated with director Henri Verneuil six times, including the films “I cannoni di San Sebastian," “Il Clan dei Siciliani," “Gli scassinatori," “Il serpente," “Il poliziotto della brigata criminale” and “I…come Icaro." For "Il serpente," Ennio Morricone perfectly managed to describe the tense atmosphere of this high-voltage espionage thriller, alternating dramatic and mysterious passages ("Assassinio sul lago," "Il serpente"), experimental ("Astrazione con ritmo," "Esplicitamente sospeso") with other soft and sensual ones ("Canzone lontana"), assisted by the thrilling intervention of Edda Dell'Orso and I Cantori Moderni by Alessandroni. Morricone also created another sweet and melancholy theme with modern rhythms called “Tema per una donna sola" as well as music with a danceable flavor such as "Nadine," with organ, rhythm section and rock guitar, always with the wonderful voices of Cantori Moderni, and two themes for the radio, alternating between a soft, slow and a danceable shake and an excited march ("Parata militare"). At the time, General Music released a 33 rpm (General Music - Zslge 55495) containing ten selections in stereo. The album was later reissued on vinyl in France and Japan. Beat Records reissues on CD this valuable musical work by Ennio Morricone for the thriller and espionage genres using the stereo masters of the original recording sessions for a total duration of about 72:15, marking a triumphant return to the market as a tribute to the immense Maestro Ennio Morricone!

This is an unsettling yet beautiful record, ambient passages give way to menacing jittering Synths amid Nick Zinner’s familiar guitar tones soaked in reverb, conjuring up long dark highways, deserted buildings and dense woods that never end. The artwork by Henry Abrams compliments the audio perfectly.

“Nell’Anno del Signore” is a 1969 film directed by Luigi Magni; set in Rome in 1825, it is based on a real event, the execution of two individuals belonging to the Carbonari revolutionary secret society; the main characters are interpreted by Nino Manfredi, Enrico Maria Salerno and Claudia Cardinale.

The drama and gloom atmosphere of the movie reflect in a soundtrack composed and arranged by Maestro Armando Trovajoli for an orchestra conducted by Gianfranco Plenizio; a few but essential notes outline the principal melodies of the main themes of the work, for a result that is still enticing today. In addition, we have the fundamental contribution of Alessandro Alessandroni’s Cantori Moderni and Edda Dell’Orso, together with the extraordinary participation of Fabrizio De André in the song “Nell’Anno del Signore (Suite)”, here released on vinyl for the first time.

Money (aka "Intrigo in 9 mosse") is a 1991 thriller directed by Steven Hilliard Stern and written by Larry Pederson and Gordon Roback, based on the novel of the same name by Paul-Loup Sulitzter. The film was produced by André Djaoui and René Malo, with music by Ennio Morricone and starring Eric Stoltz, Maryam D'Abo, Bruno Cremer, Mario Adorf, Anna Kanakis, F. Murray Abraham, Christopher Plummer, Bernard Fresson, Angelo Infanti and Tomas Milian. Frank Cimbali is a 21-year-old man who, trying to reclaim his legacy, discovers the dirty business of his father's former business partner. While traveling around the world in search of those who have robbed him of millions of dollars, Frank meets the love of his life. Finally, the young man finds Will Scarlet, who had been his father's partner and who is now seriously ill. Will admits his role in the crime and decides to help Frank track down the rest of the men on his revenge list. Two different versions of Money were produced, one for television and one for the cinema. Most of the soundtrack is repertoire, but this CD, with a duration of approx. 37 minutes, contains only the original music composed, orchestrated and conducted by Ennio Morricone, derived from the stereo masters of the original sessions. Oscar Valdambrini is the exceptional flugelhorn soloist on the rhythmic main theme, which is alternated with moments of comedy, suspense and action. This reissue will be welcomed by anyone who missed out on the long-out-of-print GDM CD release and is essential for every collection dedicated to the musical genius of Ennio Morricone.

The debut film for The Coen Brothers and Carter Burwell, who would go on to work together on numerous films including The Big Lebowski, No Country for Old Men and Fargo. Blood Simple has only been previously released as one side of a shared 12″ LP with an abbreviated score to Raising Arizona on the second side. This February the story of the infamous Unabomber Ted Kaczynski will receive its theatrical debut in a new Tony Stone directed film, Ted K. Kaczynski is notorious for both tragically murdering three people (and wounding an additional 23) via bombs sent in the mail and for his numerous writings on the evils of technology he composed during his primitive residency in the woods of Montana. Stone’s choice to have the renowned electronic artist Blanck Mass score the film is somewhat ironic and creates an obvious tension perfect for the controversial and complex subject matter.

2020 saw the first Blanck Mass movie score, for the soundtrack to Nick Rowland’s acclaimed cinematic debut ‘Calm with Horses.’ This expansion into new areas of melodic composition and textural exploration won Blanck Mass many new fans, with BBC’s acknowledged number one film buff Mark Kermode proclaiming the work the soundtrack of the year. In 2021, Blanck Mass won the prestigious Ivor Novello Award for best original film score and has firmly established himself at the forefront of the latest wave of experimental soundscape wizards.

Recording during lockdown at his studio in Edinburgh, Scotland, Blanck Mass’s Ben Power was in the perfect setting for a musical piece intended to capture the isolation central to Kaczynski’s story. Power was also working with a director in a time zone 10 hours behind and thus many sessions required working in the middle of the night, which added a fitting intensity to the composition process. He said of the project “I wanted it to feel like an ‘epic’" and drew on the legends Sergio Leone and Ennio Morricone for inspiration in encapsulating the energy of the perceived good vs. evil.

The gentle madness of sound achieved is exquisite and slowly builds in intensity and desperation as the score moves along. Power is able to perfectly capture the complexity, the terror and the deep emotionality of the film while presenting an often breathtakingly beautiful and always masterful album that stands on its own as a work of art.

Although this wasn’t directed by but Sergio Leone, but by the less known Giulio Petroni, “Tepepa” is one of the best films in the spaghetti western genre, thanks to a perfect synopsis – even if as set in the ‘abused’ Mexican Revolution of the early ‘900 – to a trio of exceptional actors and, finally, to Ennio Morricone’s soundtrack. The protagonists are in fact the immovable doctor John Steiner, the histrionic revolutionary Tomas Milian and the massive Colonel Orson Welles, a unique and practically unrepeatable combination, however directed in a ‘leone-ish’ way by Petroni, who often focuses on large panoramas and close-ups on the character’s faces. As always, Morricone means quality: for “Tepepa” the Maestro creates a memorable soundtrack, dominated by strings and, curiously, by the acoustic guitar! Reissued several times on CD, this album has been reissued on vinyl almost 40 years later! When the film was premiered in the theatres (1969) just a the single 45rpm “Viva la Revolucion / In Mexico I would like” had been released; both songs are of course included here, the second of which is sung by Christy (stage name of Mary Cristina Brancucci) in a very felt and compelling way.

It’s an absolute dream come true for iam8bit to collaborate with The Muppets Studio and Walt Disney Records to release this completely remastered revival of The Muppet Movie soundtrack on vinyl. (That feels sooooo good to say.) More than 40 years since it’s original release in 1979, we’ve rummaged backstage at The Muppet Theatre to dust off timeless recordings like the Oscar-nominated “Rainbow Connection” and the road trip ditty, “Movin’ Right Along,” sparing no executional detail to give this album the treatment it deserves. The music by legends, Paul Williams and Kenneth Ascher, is undisputedly excellent, charming in its love of lyricism, with perfectly-honed harmonies and arrangements. These are the songs that rocketed The Muppets from mere TV stardom to the realm of rockstars, featuring outstanding performances by Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo the Great, Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem (with Animal on wicked drums), and so many more. The plot tells the story of a neighborhood that is terrorized by a haunted house during Halloween. The movie features the voices of Steve Buscemi (Reservoir Dogs), Maggie Gyllenhaal (Donnie Darko, The Secretary), Mitchell Musso (Hannah Montana), Sam Lerner, Spencer Locke, Kevin James (The King of Queens), Nick Cannon, Jason Lee, Fred Willard (Spinal Tap), Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite), Catherine O-Hara (Beetlejuice), and Kathleen Turner (Jessica Rabbit in Who Framed Roger Rabbit).

Monster House marks Sony's first computer animated film produced by Sony Pictures Imageworks. Produced by Roger Zemeckis (Back to the Future Trilogy) and Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment, the film was released in 2006 and was met with praise from fans and critics for its blending of horror and accessibility to a broad audience as a feature animated film.

Roger Ebert gave the film his highest ranking of four stars calling it "one of the most original and exciting animated movies I've seen in a long time" and compared it to the work of Tim Burton.

Oscar® winner Jordan Peele disrupted and redefined modern horror with Get Out and then Us. Now, he reimagines the summer movie with a new pop nightmare: the expansive horror epic, Nope.

The film reunites Peele with Oscar® winner Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out, Judas and the Black Messiah), who is joined by Keke Palmer and Oscar® nominee Steven Yeun as residents in a lonely gulch of inland California who bear witness to an uncanny and chilling discovery.

NOPE marks Abels’ third feature film score with director Jordan Peele, having previously scored Peele’s GET OUT and US. The album also features songs from the film, including a new version of Corey Hart’s classic “Sunglasses at Night (Jean Jacket Mix)”, Dionne Warwick’s “Walk on By”, The Lost Generation’s “This is the Lost Generation”, Exuma’s “Exuma, the Obeah Man”, and a never-before-released gem by a young Jodie Foster, “La Vie C’est Chouette” from the 1977 film MOI, FLEUR BLEUE. “NOPE is my most ambitious score to date,” says Abels. “There are elements from the genres of sci-fi, action, horror, and westerns, but always through the tonal palette of Jordan Peele’s unique vision. The lines between source music and score are blurred, as a good part of the score seems to be playing at the theme park, which is a key location in the story. The score is at times terrifying, yet also invokes the sense of awe and wonder that the characters feel as they realize what they are seeing. The film eventually becomes a grand adventure, and so the music expands into the larger-than-life scale we expect of a summer blockbuster.” He goes on to say, “it was a joy to compose a score that encompassed such a broad range of genres and emotions, and I’m thrilled to have audiences experience all of them through this album.”

Bowdark is the name of a fictitious town somewhere in the USA. After a comet hits the town, mysterious things starts to happen. The Gothenburg-based artist Magnus Jäverling started to develop the concept and story around 2016, which included a scale model of the town and now the culmination of the project; his 10-track debut album. Recorded between 2016 and 2022, the album is a epic and dramatic journey through the peculiar lives and happenings in Bowdark. While musically being rooted in the synthesized and atmospheric tradition of Fabio Frizzi, John Carpenter and the ilk, there's something strikingly Scandinavian about the eerie and icy cold compositions. The record is accompanied by a folder with loose sheets mapping out the strange events in Bowdark. Mastered by Joakim Karlsson and pressed in an edition of 500 copies.

The film skewers our predilection with internet fame and how social media is dominating our lives, following three 20 somethings looking to the internet for fame and fortune, but being corrupted by the very power they seek. Maya Hawke delivers an incredible performance, and Andrew Garfield once again proves he is one of the best actors of his generation, the score by Devonte Hynes is both beautiful and tender yet has a dark undercurrent bubbling under the surface. This vinyl edition features an exclusive vocal track from Hynes in the shape of the incredible 'Backhand', which you can only hear on this vinyl pressing.

Theresa Stroetges has and always will be a traveler. Under the name Golden Diskó Ship or as a member of bands like Soft Grid or the improv collective Epiphany Now!, the Berlin-based multi-instrumentalist has continuously been moving through the fringes of experimental music, but also extensively explored the possibilities of tried and tested formulas - whether folk, rock, techno or pop. With her fourth solo album, her first for the Karaoke Kalk label, the Golden Diskó Ship is yet again venturing into unknown territory. »Araceae« is inspired by environmental changes and the eerie feelings that arise when faced with natural beauty - when everything seems perfect on the surface but something feels off underneath it all. As a whole, it is notably more focused on electronic grooves that provide the foundation for Stroetges’s poetic long-form storytelling.

Partially conceived during a residency in India, »Araceae« is the first Golden Diskó Ship record to feature two guest musicians. For »Wildly Floral, Slightly Damp,« Stroetges collaborated with percussionist Dripta Samajder who with his Sri Khol contributes complex rhythms to a driving beat that wouldn’t be out of place in the record bags of daring DJs. Sophia Trollmann takes over saxophone duties for »Ortolan,« a riveting coming-together of intricate, IDM-flavoured techno and jazz-inspired improvisation. Both are integral standout tracks on an album that clearly follows a holistic plan. Already the opener »Clouds of Neon Limelight« dips into anthemic synth pop territory, but unfolds into a great saga full of ominous undertones and Stroetges’s trademark: layered vocals that at once evoke feelings of uncanniness and intimacy.

It’s a juxtaposition that runs throughout »Araceae,« thus enforcing the album’s overall themes of sensual experience and alienation. »Game of Biryani« for example lends some of its musical structures from pop music, calling into question traditional songwriting conventions which here reappear as irritating echo effects rather than recycled old tropes. With the lush »Limping over the Prairies« and the adventurous »Glow-in-the-Dark Gloves,« Stroetges further challenges her audience by applying noise and a heavy dose of autotune respectively to disorientating effect.

The couple makes for an impressive finale of an album that scrutinises our ideas of what is natural - whether in music or the world around us. »Araceae« was inspired by the travels of its creator, but also sets out to ascertain what lies beyond everything that eyes or ears can perceive.

Located off the coast of Indonesia, the Australian territory of Christmas Island is inhabited by migratory crabs traveling in their millions from the jungle towards the ocean, in a movement that has been provoked by the full moon for hundreds of thousands of years. Poh Lin Lee is a trauma therapist who lives with her family in this seemingly idyllic paradise. Every day, she talks with the asylum seekers held indefinitely in a high-security detention centre hidden in the island's core, attempting to support them in a situation that is as unbearable as its outcome is uncertain. As Poh Lin and her family explore the island's beautiful yet threatening landscape, the local islanders carry out their "hungry ghost" rituals for the spirits of those who died on the island without a burial. They make offerings to appease the lost souls who are said to be wandering the jungles at night looking for home. This album presents the original score Aaron Cupples created for the film. Rich in texture and harmonics, the music is characterized by the bespoke instruments and recording techniques employed in its creation. It was inevitable that a successful game like Darius would receive a sequel, and in 1989 lucky gamers were treated to Darius II cabinets in their arcades. It has since gone on to become a fan favourite, and rightly so: you can’t mention scrolling shooters without mentioning Darius II.The game was ported over to gaming consoles in Japan the following year, and reached U.S. shores in 1991, under the title Sagaia, with a re-arranged soundtrack and different level layouts. But for purists the arcade version remained top dog, and it is with this in mind that we have pressed the original arcade version soundtrack for Darius II onto vinyl, making this its debut on the format!

Born of the overarching World of Darkness and the tabletop phenomenon Vampire: The Masquerade, Bloodhunt is Sharkmob’s thrilling spin on the multiplayer action genre that sees players take part in a ruthless war between vampire factions.

Bloodhunt boasts a sonically rich score sired by acclaimed Polish-Bulgarian composer Atanas Valkov, and featuring the Sofia Session Orchestra & Choir. The city of Prague provided much of the aesthetic inspiration for Bloodhunt’s soundscape: classical and romantic, yet with many a shadowy corner in which a vampire might secrete themselves. Valkov enjoyed creating contrast between modern electronic musical elements and old world ones, as well as layering guitars and using irregular rhythmic structures. The overall soundtrack is both cinematic and brutal.

The deluxe double LP set features a deluxe gatefold sleeve (individually inkjet numbered) and printed inners dripping with stylish artwork by Sharkmob. 16 tracks have been mastered specially for vinyl, and pressed onto heavyweight, red and transparent LPs with a cloudy effect. Also included are composer liner notes.

The Nest is a 2020 thriller film written, directed, and produced by Sean Durkin. It tells the story of a family plunged into uncertainty upon relocation from America to England, as the tense isolation of their new home affects them differently. Its soundtrack was arranged by Richard Reed Parry, a Canadian multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, best known as a core member of the Grammy Award-winning indie rock band Arcade Fire, where he plays a wide variety of instruments. The Nest is available as a limited edition of 500 individually numbered copies on crystal clear vinyl. The package includes an insert with pictures from the movie.

Reprint of the rare 1972 library LP by Maestro Giuliano Sorgini under the pseudonyms of Raskovich and The Bid-On. Originally released in just a few copies for a small label owned by a friend of Maestro Sorgini, this LP includes 12 really beautiful tracks with positive vibes. From Jazz Dance, Bossa Nova, Funk, and some Killer BreakBeat, with lots of percussion, growling flute and honking sax. SNK composer Masahiko Hataya reprises his role in KOF '95 while being joined by composers Akihiro Uchida and Pearl Sibakiti. As a Generation Series releases, the Kof95 soundtrack will feature newly remastered analog and digital tracks, as well as a booklet containing archival artwork and liner notes by former development team members.

La notte e il momento (The Night and the Moment) is a 1995 British-French-Italian erotic drama film co-written and directed by Anna Maria Tatò and starring Willem Dafoe, Lena Olin and Miranda Richardson. It was screened out of competition at the 51st Venice International Film Festival. A writer (Dafoe) is invited to the house of a noblewoman (Olin) who adores freethinkers. He attempts to seduce her but she insists that he tell her of his past love exploits. While doing so, he takes her through his time in prison where he was unknowingly incarcerated in the cell beside hers. The movie was nominated for a Nastro d Argento, an Italian Movie Award. Ennio Morricone (10 November 1928) composed and arranged the score of the movie. He has made scores and soundtracks for more than 500 film and television productions, making him one of the most influential and best-selling film composers since the late 1950s. This release is available in the Ennio Morricone Classic Soundtrack series.

The English is Federico Jusid's sweeping, nostalgic and raw score to Hugo Blick's six part contemporary Western. Giving a nod to 1950s western soundtracks, the score is enriched by Dvořák’s String Quartet No. 12. known as the "American", written during Dvořák’s stay in America, and only three years after the events of the series.

Also featured on the album are the beautiful folk songs by The Wailin' Jennys, Melanie, Crooked Still, Ora Cogan and Tom McRae. The second track on the album, Tâtačiksta_ - I Cherish You, features a tender reading by Emily Blunt.

Jusid’s music structure is based on leitmotifs, very simple and symmetric, constantly varied and developed to mirror the protagonists’ journeys. Big orchestral sounds underpin epic and romantic themes. Sound design, processed percussion and ethnic instruments effortlessly blend in with the orchestral material.

"Milano trema:la polizia vuole giustizia" (aka “The violent professionals”) directed by Sergio Martino in 1973. The movie is placet in a violent Milan where in tangible way the alarming and fool of fears mood reigns that characterized life in the big Italian cities in the so called “Anni di piombo”(“Lead years”). Commissioner Caneparo who, after being suspended in his service, for his unorthodox ways, he wants getting revenge for a colleague’s death. The fearless cop introduces himself in the criminal world, finding favour with a criminal gang…after a series of bloody robberies , very fast chases in the streets of Milan he succeeds to discover the gang’s boss, a publisher who wants to support a dictatorial regime. Martino with sane and careful job succeeds to realize a fluent movie, full of rhythm and without dead points; also he succeeds on recreating the violent and full of fears mood of those years, through the valid performance of the actors. The images are brilliantly background with the score by brothers Guido & Maurizio De Angelis who have written a memorable monothematic ost dominated by a melancholic main theme performed by moog accompanied by the orchestra conducted by Gianfranco Plenizio that is introduced in Tr.1.This leit motif is reprised continuously in the Ost almost to follow all the moods of commissioner Caneparo in his bitter story of revenge, with fascinating variations. At that time RCA released just a 45 rpm single (Rca OC 39) containing the cover version of “Blue song”, the main theme sung by Susy & Guy that we include on CD forthe first absolute time and “And life goes on” sung by Susy Lion. Perry Botkin’s chilling electronic score to the famed and much loved 1984 festive slasher is as charming, warm, disturbing and extreme as the movie. Immediately the record starts with the first time on vinyl track of a young child carol singer juxtaposed against the hard edged bombastic main theme. From there on it doesn’t let up.

Lovingly transferred from the original 1984 session tapes and remastered at Abbey Road Studios, this new vinyl release includes 2 new cues not before released on vinyl, plus 10 alternate mixes from the original film sessions.

Quartet Records presents the premiere vinyl edition of killer soundtrack by Ennio Morricone for the 1975 police thriller IL Giustiziere (aka THE Human Factor).

Directed by Hollywood veteran by Edward Dmytryk, the film stars George Kennedy, John Mills, Raf Vallone and Rita Tushingham. The plot is about John Kinsdale (Kennedy), a computer engineer whose family gets brutally murdered while he is working in Naples on a top secret project. Aided by fellow engineer Janice (Tushingham), Kinsdale uses a combination of his expertise as well as brute force to take revenge on the left-wing terrorists—Charles Bronson style!

Morricone’ score comes from the composer’s fertile period of poliziotteschi thrillers and “Years of Lead” dramas that he approached in a similar manner. The music features several variations on the beautiful family theme which eventually gains new meaning as Kinsdale must carry the burden on his own. The music for the terrorists features the psychedelic, percussion-heavy and often ostinato-based cues that Morricone typically reserved for the steamy chaos of his poliziottecshi titles.

The score of IL Giustiziere hasn’t ever been previously released on vinyl. This premeire edition has been produced and mastered by Chris Malone using the first-generation analogue stereo master tapes and pressed in 180 GM audiophile black vinyl.

To accentuate these handmade tactile qualities, the jacket is embossed and debossed, so when you run your hand across it, your senses are activated, bringing you closer to the musical journey of the telepathic twins, Tyler and Alyson.
