Ed Banger is a Paris-based record label for electronic music, founded in 2002 by Pedro Winter (Busy P). Around the turn of the millenium Pedro Winter was above all known as manager of Daft Punk, who caused a stir with their music and their visuality (masks, music videos, artworks). Further French artists like Cassius, Jacques Lu Cont and Mr. Flash asked Pedro Winter to take over the management for them. But he had to cancel, although he liked the artists and he wanted to support them. Out of this situation Ed Banger Records was born. Together with So-Me, who is responsible for the artwork of the label, and with DJ Mehdi (who died in 2011), who coined the label not only as artist but also as A&R, in the end of the last decade here was a sound born that mixed guitar und club music to »Maximal-Electro«, that culminated with Justice. But also musicians like Mr. Oizo, Feadz, Sebastian or Uffie contributed significantly to the success of the label.
