Ash Wednesday / T.E. Power / Thealonian Music 1980-1983

Ash Wednesday (who worked a lot with Einstürzende Neubauten) approached the '80s with considerable enthusiasm. He had previously 'combined experimental analogue synthesizer textures with punk/rock rhythms' in the seminal Australian groups JAB and Models. Also important was a collaboration with his ingenious compatriot T.E. Power, named Thealonian Music. The concept was to generate music of a spontaneous nature, with the rhythmic foundation being provided by a programmable drum machine, sequence and synthesizer combination. An independent cassette titled 'Project X Chromosome X' was released in 1982, but a second cassette titled 'Syno Cat' was compiled but never released. Another independent three track cassette was released under the name Modern Jazz, it was often referred to as 'The Black Tape' due to it's totally black appearance. VOD Records are pleased to include all five songs on this release. Also included is the Modern Jazz song, 'Radio Scream', recorded for the compilation album, 'The Signal To Noise Set'.
