Item Description
180 gram LP. In 1960, the 22-year-old Freddie Hubbard was an up and coming young trumpet player on the New York jazz scene.

Having appeared on Ornette Coleman's Free Jazz, earlier that year and, by the end of 1960, having also recorded two sessions as leader for Blue Note.

His first effort for the label was Open Sesame, followed just a few months later by Goin' Up, an allusion to the fact that Freddie's star was swiftly on the rise.

Here Hubbard performs in a quintet setting, backed by Hank Mobley, McCoy Tyner, Paul Chambers and Philly Joe Jones.

His own "Blues For Brenda" is presented here for the first time, as are Hank Mobley's "The Changing Scene" and "A Peck A Sec.".
