Yes' 90125 was a departure from their progressive style but it introduced the band to a new generation of fans, reaching No. 5 on the Billboard 200 and No. 16 on the U.K. albums chart. The 1983 album remains their best-selling album with more than 3 million copies sold in the U.S. "Cinema" earned the group a Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance, while "Owner Of A Lonely Heart" was the band's first and only single to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Named for its Atco catalog number, 90125, the album — the band's 11th studio effort — it was born out of the band's self-reinvention. Begun as Cinema, a new band by Chris Squire and Alan White, the project grew to include the slick production of Trevor Horn, the new blood (and distinctly '80s guitar sound) of Trevor Rabin, and eventually the trademark vocals of returning founder Jon Anderson. His late entry insured that Rabin and Horn had a heavy influence on the sound. The album also marked the return of prodigal keyboardist Tony Kaye, whose crisp synth work on "Changes" marked the band's definitive break with its art rock roots.

"Owner Of A Lonely Heart" was a huge crossover hit, and its orchestral break has been relentlessly sampled by rappers ever since. The vocal harmonies of "Leave It" and the beautifully sprawling "Hearts" are additional high points,

90125 is a significant and well-regarded album in the Yes discography.

Released in 1967 on Reprise Records as a follow-up to 'Part One', 'Vol. 2' (the band's third LP!) takes the band into more ambitious and psychedelic territory than the '66 debut on Fifo Records and the first Reprise full-length, 'Vol. 2' maintains their unique pop sound mixed with ominous fuzz guitar, jumping from graceful folk-rock to wailing guitar freakouts, to multilayered avant-garde compositions at a moment's notice. This legendary LP sees its first ever reissue in mono, with sound taken from the original master tapes.

Earl McGrath was the ultimate ’70s jet setter, an art collector and comic bon vivant who stumbled into the record business between legendary parties in New York and LA and discovered Daryl Hall and John Oates and then Jim Carroll. Atlantic founder Ahmet Ertegun gave Earl his own label, Clean Records, in 1970; Mick Jagger hired him to run Rolling Stones Records in 1977.

Friend to Joan Didion, Andy Warhol, and a galaxy of luminaries, Earl was an inveterate tastemaker. Actor Harrison Ford, who before Star Wars fame was Earl’s handyman and pot dealer, called him “the last of a breed, one of the last great gentlemen and bohemians.”

After Earl died in 2016, journalist Joe Hagan, author of the critically-acclaimed Sticky Fingers, the biography of Rolling Stone founder Jann Wenner, discovered a trove of rare and unheard tapes in Earl’s apartment in New York—literally inside his closet. “I asked for a step ladder and the first box I pulled off the shelf was a master tape of Some Girls, the Stones album,” says Hagan.

Now Light in the Attic Records proudly presents Earl’s Closet, a double album of the treasures discovered inside, including unheard music by Daryl Hall and John Oates, David Johansen, Terry Allen, Delbert McClinton, Warhol “Superstar” Ultra Violet, Detroit sax legend Norma Jean Bell, Jim Carroll and an eclectic cast of undiscovered artists who once vied for fame and glory—folk, rock, country, funk and R&B gems that virtually no one has heard in decades. English band Tomcats (who would later become July) spent most of 1965-1966 in Spain, where they played the clubs and released a string of thrilling EPs of feral R&B, collected here along with 1964 demos by The Second Thoughts, their early incarnation. Apart from great versions of then-recent hits by English and American artists, this double LP includes several original compositions and two covers of Spanish songs made popular by the legendary Lola Flores, which The Tomcats turned into wild, fuzzed-out rockers.

After a phenomenally successful series of gigs in December 2022 marking the 40 th anniversary of their debut album 'A Taste of Pink', the band decided to make some new music. The recording was completed in two days, one of them in Studio 2 at Abbey Road. Their preference for recording quickly hasn't changed since they recorded that first album as teenagers, also in two days, in 1982. Biography
The Prisoners formed when they were still at school in Rochester, Kent. Between 1982 and 1986 the band released four albums plus several singles and EPs. Inspired by the local Medway DIY music ethic, their debut 'A Taste of Pink' and 'The Last Fourfathers' appeared on their own label, Own Up Records whilst "The WiserMiserDemelza" was released on Big Beat (Ace Records) and "In From The Cold" on Countdown (Stiff Records).
They earned a reputation as an incendiary live act as they plied their trade around the UK and Europe, building up a dedicated following and unknowingly inspiring a generation of future musicians. Their unique sound, based on instantly memorable and melodic songs surfing on a seething wave of brutal guitar, attention-grabbing, up-front Hammond and head-pounding rhythms, made for an explosive evening of entertainment. It was a unique combination of the sonic assault and danger of The Who and 60's garage-punk, the soulful vocals and dynamics of the Small Faces plus the groove and danceability of Booker T & the MGs. Throw in the intensity, drive and insolence of punk rock, as well as an unabashed love for instrumental TV themes and you had a wonderfully off-kilter version of where the real cool kids were at in the early '80s…
Despite some brushes with 'success', the pressures of hard living on the road took their toll and they quit in September 1986. They left behind a legacy and a sound that was inspirational to many that followed. Not many under the radar bands of the 80's would merit chapters dedicated to them in biographies of such luminaries as Steve LeMacq and Tim Burgess as well as being name checked as Brit-Pop forefathers. Their original albums make regular appearances in 'Great Lost Albums' lists and continue in print to this day.
James Taylor subsequently went on to gain huge success as the best pure Hammond player of his generation with his jazz and funk quartet (jtq). His playing and sound undoubtedly played a massive part in restoring the popularity of his chosen instrument.
That work started in The Prisoners.
Graham Day and Allan Crockford, both together and apart, continue to the present playing music that has ploughed a similar furrow to The Prisoners in such combos as The Prime Movers, The Solarflares, The Gaolers, The Galileo 7 and The Senior Service.

When the 80s U.S. garage/psych explosion started, one record in that genre towered above all others — THE MIRACLE WORKERS’ 1985 debut LP Inside Out.
Initially formed in 1982, the classic line-up on this debut was a five-headed, five-star beast and one of the most ferocious live bands of the era. With four songwriters, they rarely had to rely
on the crutch of cover versions that many of their paisley contemporaries had to lean on. No lazy Pebbles compilation wanna-bees or drippy long-form psych yawns here; just 13
songs that are up there in the pantheon of garage rock (and really any other rock genre).

RSD first. Limitation: 2500. “Let’s show the people coast to coast that we here in New Orleans can party! Are you ready to roll ’78 and light up 79?!” announces the boisterous (and probably slightly buzzed) emcee introducing The Marshall Tucker Band to the tight-knit community of joint-passing, beer-cheersing rock ‘n’ rolling regulars at The Warehouse, New Orleans’ legendary 1970s music hall. Not only would the audience of 2,000+ longhairs enjoy the New Year’s Eve concert that night, but so would a huge audience of radio listeners rockin’ in simulcast nationwide. The emcee claimed that this was the largest radio audience ever to hear a broadcast and at the time, it probably was. The band elevated themselves to the occasion and delivered an absolutely smokin’ performance of what were already their most memorable and cherished hits.

Released only one year after their psychedelic debut, The Fallen Angels’ sophomore album, It’s A Long Way Down, lays it all out on the line. Unfettered by label interference, The Fallen Angels’ second and final record highlights all the band has to offer. Off-kilter time signatures, experimental soundscapes, and white-hot guitar licks abound across It’s A Long Way Down’s dozen tracks, with lead singer Jack Bryant’s vocals serving as a guiding light through the paisley-patterned tunnel. Album high points like “Poor Old Man” and “Something New You Can Hide In” tease early signs of progressive rock with their weird and winding melodies, and impress with rock-solid instrumentation. An early marvel of psych rock that holds up to this day. Mastered from its original tapes and pressed at RTI on color vinyl, in its original gatefold design.

Following on from the global success of ‘Abbey Road’, Apple Corps and USM are proud to present the next multi-format Beatles album reissue of ‘Let It Be’.

January 1969 – The Beatles planned to return to live performance, setting up in Twickenham Film Studios, London, for 21 days of rehearsals. They then decamped to their new studio in their Apple office building in Saville Row and on January 30th performed their last ever live group performance on the rooftop. All of this was filmed for a proposed documentary (eventually released in 1970). During the rehearsal process, they asked Glyn Johns, who had been hired to help with the live sound, to attempt a mix to create an album. This was never released, becoming known as one of the great ‘lost’ albums in rock history and is now included in this Super Deluxe Set. The album was delayed further and in fact became their 12th and final official album release on 8th May 1970 following additional production by American producer Phil Spector.

Following the breakup of Cream, lyricist/vocalist Pete Brown formed his Battered Ornaments with guitarist Chris Spedding, drummer Rob Tait, bassist Butch Potter, percussionist Pete Bailey and saxophonist Nisar Ahmed Khan, but during the recording of sophomore album Mantle Piece, Brown fell out with Spedding, resulting in his departure. The resultant spacey venture has jazz and blues shades, riding the sonic waves under Spedding’s direction, with Khan’s sax and Potter’s bass fitting foils to Spedding’s guitar and keyboards. This is another great piece of the Spedding puzzle, with pleasantly meandering interludes.

The material for «Gemini Twins» was created in the summer of 2022 and finished in 2023. Serge: "I am interested in the themes of Man, his place in the Universe. From primitive times to the era of space exploration, people continue to ask themselves eternal questions: Who am I? Where am I from? Where am I going? The character of 'The Story Of Captain Glosster' is a slightly modified version of Homer’s Odysseus. This is the image of the End of the Wanderings. But Odysseus, after long wanderings, returned to his beloved woman. On the contrary, Captain Glosster found his love as a result of his trips. Found her in Other Worlds. I don’t use science fiction images because that’s how it’s supposed to be according to the laws of the genre. It would be too primitive and not interesting. The composition 'Time Loop' is not a reference to some kind of science fiction. In my composition, the image of the Time Loop is an image of human life. Life is rhythmic, irreversible. Under any given circumstances, we do not have the ability to press «Ctrl+Z». We can only move forward. 'Solstice' is inspired by the feeling of a calm, soft summer day. When all thoughts are stable, there is no anxiety and the world around you looks amazing through the haze of sun rays and summer smells. I tried to convey this state in my track. 'Over the Mountains' could, of course, be an image from science fiction. But not necessarily. This is the feeling of flying over the mountains. Perhaps on another planet. Or maybe not. This is a feeling of triumph from conquering air. 'Fugit Irreparabile Tempus' is my musical reflections on our world and the place of Man in this world.”

It opens with the incredible title track, featuring an extended noisy fuzz guitar intro and which would become one of their most famous songs, especially live. The Kim brothers also dwell into abrasive garage-psych (“Let’s Sing”) melancholic fuzz ballads (“A Flower Blooming In The Haze”) and more!

After some hot live performances and subversive jaunts made in the aftershock of Woodstock, Santana and his band entered the calm atmosphere of the recording studio to make their sixth album. Taking a look at the blue butterfly on the LP cover, it wasn’t surprising that purist Santana fans scented that the music in this particular garden would be more gentle and cultivated than the previous hard-rock sound. But one thing after another: in attune with semi natural sounds, the 'Canto De Los Flores' swings along to dabbed figures on the Rhodes piano and waves of multi-cultural drumming.
The drama continues with "Life Is Anew" – a powerfully arranged ballad, followed by a highly emotional rock number ("Give And Take"). This takes us to where Santana feels most at home – "Promise Of A Fisherman" with its velvety, wonderfully expansive guitar sound. By now, at the latest, the listener joins the sensitive outdoorsman on his chase after the butterfly named "Boborletta" with a wealth of gorgeous sounds.
