Rewind to 1997 and Uk's finest clubs are alight to the tech-house sounds emanating from South London. Terry Francis, a key figure in the scene, needs no introduction, Fabric resident, Wiggle co-founder, as well as part of the seminal Housey Doingz collective, 'Dubtown' was his first solo outing, all 4 tracks are instant classics, and the EP itself has become his most sought after release to date.

The tracks themselves are varied and brilliant, EP opener 'Hannah's House' kicks off with an infectious bass line and builds with expertly programmed percussion. Simple yet effective riffs intertwine with warm pads and deep chord stabs. 'Hannah's Dub' strips the track down, eerie synths add a tuneful swagger without ever losing dancefloor appeal. 'As You Cry' broadens the sonic palette with swinging rhythms, crisp snares and dreamy chords that deliver the peak time funk and bump. Lastly 'Reggae's House' is a deep dub infused jam, acidic 303 touches combine effortlessly with pads and stabs, whilst echoing bursts of percussion make some real tripped out musical moments.

All 4 tracks are deep winners, tweaked to maximum effect by a master of the genre. A rarity for decades now available once more. Only a handful of releases exist from Red Seal, but it's quality over quantity that is on display with these guys. The 1996 original was released on Rob's Records, a label founded by the legendary Rob Gretton (rip), former Joy Division and New Order manager, as well as Factory Records and Hacienda co-owner. Penned by Red Seal and produced by Martin Moscrop, of A Certain Ratio fame, this 3 tracker would set the World's dancefloors alight and become a much lauded and bonafide classic.

'Spinning Top' kicks off with flanged hats and dark brooding synths, the breakbeat is tough and delivers a potent punch. The wam analogue bass keeps the track moving throughout, the distinctive lead line and arpeggios build and drop in all the right places. 'Twister' continues the vibe, the heavy weight bass and top drawer percussion deliver the funk. The deft synth programming gives this track a lighter feel, but is no less energetic. Finally 'Hula Loop' heads off into tripped out acid territory, the break beats roll, and the infectious 303 undulates in a way that both captivates and enthrals.

This EP is packed with peak time heat, an essential rarity sought after by diggers around the globe. Unavailable for decades, a repress has most definitely been long overdue. Mint Condition would like to dedicate this release to the life of Nathan Coles, who sadly passed away on February 12th 2023. A true tech-house originator and underground party starter, his productions laid down a blueprint for the tech-house sound that has become a global phenomena today. A much lauded DJ & producer, he graced the decks of the best clubs globally. As well as his solo productions, Nathan had multiple collaborative projects, Housey Doingz, Mashupheadz, Two Right Wrongans, Get F@cked, to name but a few, that saw him tackle tech-house, deep house, breaks and electro with such skillful aplomb.

The now highly sought after original appeared on Wiggle in 2000, and for this release Nathan teams up with his longtime Wiggle partner, and legend of the scene, Terry Francis for 2 fierce tech-house jams under their 'Delinquents' alias. A-Side 'Disc' opens with heavy kicks and speaker rattling percussion.The hypnotic 303-line builds, layered synths add to the tension, then comes the drop where infectious chord stabs enter the fray. B-Side - 'Funktional' takes a more stripped back approach, the bass line and percussion delivers a groove capable of destroying any discerning dancefloor. Darker acid and synths riffs build around the melody to deliver a bass heavy roller of the highest order that sounds as fresh, exciting & relevant today as it did over 2 decades ago.

Eze-Ozo's 'How To Stay Alive' is a bonafide bass 'n' bleeps classic that has topped wants lists for decades. Originally released in 1991, this groundbreaking 2 tracker took the Warehouse Scene by storm and ensured it would never be the same again. 'How to Stay Alive' opens with lush pads and sparse percussion, the heavyweight sub-bass drops , then in come breakbeats that really deliver the funk. There's bubbling synth riffs and stabs aplenty, whilst sublime strings add to the track's emotive quality. Over on the flip 'Kick The Break In' features more bass-bin rattling sub-bass, but rolls with an infectious acid line. The percussion passages are deftly programmed, as beak beats intertwine with more electro-tinged 4 to the floor rhythms, there's those ever essential bleeps and strings, both sinister and elevating give the track a more melancholic feel.

This very sought after slab of wax is an essential rarity that has achieved a cult status amongst the most discerning DJs and record collectors alike. Detroit bred / LA based producer Kenny Larkin has long been a force to be reckoned with, both in the studio and in the DJ booth. His 'Vanguard EP' from 1992 was released under the name POD, another of his aliases used for the deep sonic exploration of Techno that he undertook, thus changing the face of modern electronic music right up to this day. Featured here is the full '92 EP with the addition of another POD rarity entitled 'Chinese Checkers', lifted from a compilation a number of years later. The music contained within this 2 x 12" reissue should not be understated, this is pure, unadulterated Detroit Techno sounds of the highest order. A truly staggering collection of music that somehow transcends the decades since it's release 20+ years ago and still sounds forward thinking today.
