The American rap artist Nate Dogg earned the nickname of “King Of Hooks” after providing guest vocals for a multitude of hit rap songs between 1992 and 2007. He began his career as a member of 213, but recorded three successful solo albums in total, including the 2001 album Music & Me. The album was led by the single “I Got Love”, which remains one of his biggest hits to this day, alongside the title track. The album featured guest appearances by Dr. Dre, Xzibit, Kurupt, Fabolous, Ludacris, Pharoahe Monch and Snoop Dogg amongst others. It peaked at #3 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart.

Mwandishi is one of Herbie Hancock's first departures from his traditional jazz sounds. The album
which was recorded in a single session on New Year's Eve is a much more spacier effort compared to
his earlier works, created by Hancock's us of electronic effects devices. His sextet is the most
progressive ensemble he played with and he took the next step in the future of jazz. The music on
Mwandishi is beautifully atmospheric and the long tracks leave plenty of space for improvisations by
the group. A fantastic recording with sonic layers of earth, existence and expression.

original and distinctive voice.

Fat Albert Rotunda is the venture into jazz-funk by keyboardist Herbie Hancock. The record is
centered around the music Hancock wrote the Fat Albert cartoon show. It’s one of the records which
appeared in the period between his landmark album Maiden Voyage of 1965 and his 1973 classic
Head Hunters. Fat Albert Rotunda is a unique item in Herbie Hancock’s long and diverse catalog, with
funky tracks like "Fat Mama" and modern jazz-oriented tunes like "Tell Me A Bedtime Story". The

In a career spanning over 50 years James Brown became known as a progenitor of funk music and influencing the development of many other genres. All his hit songs, hidden gems and collaborations are now bundled on 'Collected'. It contains 29 songs, including music from his early days with the Famous Flames, the J.B.'s and a wide collection of tracks from his solo career. Brown began his career as a gospel singer and joined a rhythm and blues vocal group, the Famous Flames, as the lead singer in the 1950s. Later on he formed his own band and released successful singles as 'Papa's Got a Brand New Bag', 'I Got You (I Feel Good)' and 'It's a Man's Man's Man's World'. While developing the funk to a new level he created the J.B.'s, with which he scored hits like 'Get Up (I Feel Like Being a) Sex Machine' and 'The Payback'. Brown was inducted into 1st class of the Rhythm & Blues Music Hall of Fame, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Songwriters Hall of Fame. During the years he gained different honorific nicknames including 'Godfather of Soul', 'Mr. Dynamite', and 'Soul Brother No.1'. Paul Butterfield was an iconic blues harmonica player and singer, famous for his in 1963 formed Paul Butterfield Blues Band. Their 1966 releases classic East West is one of the outstanding albums in which they integrated psychedelic rock in traditional blues music. The supergroup consisted at that time of guitar hero Mike Bloomfield, keyboardist Mark Naftalin, bassist Jerome Arnold, drummer Billy Davenport and, of course, the master himself, Paul Butterfield. The authentic blues sounds are woven in the sounds of jazz and raga music. It’s an exciting trip in which you can hear the talented individuals, but also how they created their music together. The album proved to be one of the essential albums in the blues-rock movement of the 60s.

Paul Butterfield died in 1987 at the age of 44. During that time he was still recording new songs. In 2006 he was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame and in 2015 again as part of his own Paul Butterfield Blues Band.

Billy Cobham is one of the greatest jazz-fusion drummers from
the last decades. Shortly after he left the band Mahavishnu
Orchestra he released his debut solo album Spectrum. Influenced
by the music of Miles Davis he combines elements from the jazz
with rock and psychedelia. From the subtle parts to the more
aggressive moments, it’s an album in which Cobham shows his
identity to the public. The music quartet recorded some lengthy
pieces, out of which “Stratus” is the absolute masterpiece. The
funky grooves and effective guitar melodies blend together very
well and the jazz comes alive in the outstanding drum play by
Cobham. “Quadrant 4” is another great track in which the music
erupts and the synergy between the musicians can be felt.
As a member of the Mahavishnu Orchestra and in his
collaboration with Miles Davis, Billy Cobham earned recognition
for his impressive playstyle and live performance.
