Bliss Point is proud to present the long awaited reissue of lost italo house gem Soft Keys – Bubbles. Recorded in Trieste in 1993 by Edoardo Milani and Tullio Battisti, “Bubbles (Soap Mix)” is a slice of colorful, sun-soaked euphoria, a track delightfully leftfield and playful in a way so rarely found in club music. Originally released on Italy’s Promo Music label, it was quickly lost to time, a masterpiece locked away on an extremely hard to find 12”, soon growing in notoriety among DJs and collectors. Bliss Point’s reissue of this classic includes two remixes from contemporary luminaries, each interpreting the timeless sound of Bubbles for the 21st century. Tokyo’s boys be kko explores the soaring complexity of the original, and New Yorker Olive T offers a thumping take on its deep and tender heart. The original “Acapella” version is also included. This reimagining of Soft Keys – Bubbles is remastered and recut by Dubplates & Mastering, and features an homage to the original 12” sleeve designed by Brandon Oxendine.

There’s nothing that brings us greater pleasure at Bordello A Parigi than celebrating the inspirational. Alex Virgo’s debut with us is just that. “The Promise” combines the instrumental elegance of Virgo with the smokey vocals of Olugbenga Adelekan, a musician whose trailblazing work with Metronomy has been beyond influential. "Colkin (Raw Soul, Mauke Club) kicks off the a-side with a spheric acid house meditation. Next is a track by Peter Seiler which could be found on the extended reissue of his 'Flying Frames' debut LP on Innovative Communication in 1989. It features the soulful voice of Sheryl Hackett. An extraordinary groover that is meandering between song and jazz improvisation. Eoism (Pulse Drift, Undersound, Inch By Inch) complete the a-side with some low-swung electro flavors, driving you straight into sunset.

On the b-side Voertuig (Tonal Oceans, Cobra Club) hit us with a serious and raw acid jam - dark and dirty. On the following track they show us their experimental jazzy side and cool things down again. A track the 1990s downbeat era was missing. Eoism close the first volume of Futur with a floating, futuristic banger from their lab.

Benedikt Meger's aspiration for funkscapes was always to feature funk grooves, old and new, fresh and relevant for today. Whether some rare, not so rare or just under the radar recordings from the past or new productions from today's artists across different electronic genres. In 2021, we welcomed Endrik Schroeder to the Bordello family with his Second Breath 12”. The memorable hooks and attention to detail that characterised his first appearance run deep in his latest. The Hope sees the French producer accompanied by a true legend of electronics, Caroline Hervé aka Kittin. Hervé’s penchant for combining brighter tones with darker shades is evident from the needle. Industrial hiss pierces swirling vocals. Clean claps, warm bass and crystalline chords give way to woe-streaked lyrics, lyrics that ascend into an arc of pulsating synthwave pain. Schroeder takes the reins on the flip. A beam of light is cast over throbbing arpeggios and a slicing snare, notes drifting ever higher as “The Dogs” takes hold. Strings swim as a spread of sounds grow, a palpable energy building under Schroeder’s watchful ear and hand in this seven minute plus odyssey into his machines.

“Valsadeira” is a pulsing uptempo excursion from the African island nation of Cabo Verde, with driving percussion, impassioned vocals, and tasty synth work. Sung in Portuguese, the track begins on a romantic note which builds toward a dramatic flip halfway through that gives way to a hypnotic tropical vamp. The drum tool extends the rhythmic breaks of the song into a useful standalone percussion jam. Odo Kakra Sika Kakra is a bouncy and joyous slice of Ghanaian highlife. With crisp 90s-era production and sweet vocal melodies, JKriv edited this one with love for maximum booty shaking and smiles. "Batonga" is a mid tempo slice of Afrofunk with a mid 1980s downtown NYC feel, led by angular and funky guitars, layered synths, and a female vocal with African chants. The drum break features a textured beat including big electronic drums, percussions and an interlocking kalimba line.

Games Change is a collection of songs written about the wonders of childbirth, and how this can affect the relationship that made the child happen in the first place. Drenched in a healthy serving of Soul and Funk, Games Change is the groovy parent's anthem, and perhaps a roadmap for those about to become one. Sometimes the themes are wrapped in innuendo, but often times they pronounce it blatantly inyour- face.

Having released two stellar singles prior to this full EP offering, Marcel Vogel and Lyma have quickly sparked interest in the appropriate corners of the music world, with their already signature brand of genre-mashing greatness.

DJ'ing across the globe, remixing the likes of Hot Chip, Phenomenal Handclap Band and Flamingo Pier, or A&R'ing releases on his own record label Lumberjacks In Hell, Marcel Vogel is the good vibe guru. Fueled by the dance floor connection, Marcel offers up an eclectic blend of Disco, Soul, House and Gospel. Amsterdam-based Lyma is an RnB and Soul powerhouse. Also, part of the Likeminds ensemble, Lyma skirts the genre borders with his eclectic mix of moveable goodness.

The EP opener Funk Money launches the manifesto with an expensive, forward-moving groove. Exuberant synth stabs bounce off highly static Electro-like leads—moving it into prime-time, drive-time radio territory. After opening up in exceptional fashion, we find the sexual breakout single Head Back In The Game. An enticing mid-tempo'd bounce lures us in, right before a vocal delivery reminiscent of a plethora of 70s Soul crooners seals the deal. Syrupy chordal movements guide us through several swanky passages describing the willingness of sexual resurgence and a desire for a sexual return to form, so to say. Next we find the previously released Keep On Stepping. On this, a luxuriously syncopated and heavily saturated bass line lays underneath a washed out vocal cut. After which, a guitar riff reminiscent of early Prince makes friends with a rather ambiguous synth stab. All whilst the hypnotic analog hi-hat pattern fills in the blanks. The second part of the song introduces some interesting Acid House inspired elements, but firmly planting them in their own world. On Cruisin' we find a hypnotic, almost sample-esque motif, over which the tasteful Acid House reference rears its head again. Round, but sharp in message, Cruisin' is a metaphor for taking the best feeling directions in life. Pop My Cherry drops all the innuendo and gets straight to the point; sexual prowess front and center. The Teddy Rileyesque closing tune is a perfect summary of the EPs mission statement, in that the duo holds no holes barred.

Overall, Games Change is ferociously lustful, sexually charged and smooth-as-butter. It just knows how to twist, bop, wine and dine us into loving Marcel Vogel & Lyma even more—even though they didn't get much sleep last night.

Voted Track of the Year at Gilles Peterson’s 2003 Worldwide awards, RSL’s “Wesley Music” was an instant anthem on its release, combining a jazzy sensibility with heavy percussion, catchy brass riffs, and a building, hands-in-the-air chorus hook. The Manchester, UK-based band first released the single on their own label, but as the tune took off it was quickly released in the U.S. by Giant Step Records, long a pipeline for the freshest British new music. Here comes Emotional Rescue and Konduko's last in their series of Noel Williams/King Sporty reissues, this time looking at later electro productions and the hip-hop/boogie influenced 'Sun Country'. Vocals and co-production come from Williams' long-time partner Betty Wright and as well as a vocal and instrumental mix there's a longform remix by Bay Area disco dub stalwarts, 40 Thieves. By this point in his career, the godfather of Miami Bass had travelled a long way from his Jamaican roots in reggae and soul, paying homage to the warm climbs of the Sunshine State and laying down a much copied template using the Tr-808 drum machine create the electronic emulations of the breakbeat, claps accenting the backbeat and trademark low frequencies shaking the floorboards. The instrumental stretches the arrangement, emphasising the interplay between electronics, bass, vocal samples, scratching and fx, the voice transformed into a percussive element in its own right. The flip sees 40 Thieves flexing their understated understanding of electro funk, making for a rounded, generation-jumping package.

Emotional Rescue can be relied on to dig up obscure, left of centre dance gems and serve them up to newer, wider audiences. Adu's reggae-pop cut 'Burkina Faso' is a great example, re-purposed for the dancefloor without any of its original flavour lost in the overhaul. A South Saharan/West African emigre to Brixton, Rauf Adu would go on to fairly sizeable European fame with the Eddy Grant-esque 'Human To Human'. This, however, is his 1982 debut for Copasetic Records, another reggae-pop inspired, ludicrously catchy effort with scorched electric guitar and a Compass Point-style drum/bassline providing rhythmic rocksteadiness. As well as the buffed up original, there's a dub mix, which gives his beautiful guitar plenty of room to breathe, and an appearance from the Isle of Jura Sound System boss Kevin Griffiths , whose remix completes the trio of mixes.

Duper, the new release from Morgan Geist, is a not-so-subtle callback to his 2001 EP, Super. "I was working most days with Kelley Polar on our new vocal project, Au Suisse, which isn't really dance music at all," he explains. "I started fooling around with these instrumental tracks at night for fun. Each track was in a different style, but they seemed to work nicely as a group. By the time I asked Kelley to contribute strings to the A-side, the record really started feeling like the sequel to Super."

Indeed, the playful synth riffs and sweeping disco strings of "Twilight Express" echo the palette of Geist's cult classic "24k" and early Metro Area. "Black Test Car" is a unique collision of minimal, almost Krautrock-style drums, sound library textures and spacy electro percussion. Meanwhile, "Feeling Is Mutual" is a rare acid outing that pushes beyond the usual comfort zone, the 303 acting more as feather than hammer on top of major-key modulations. "I love a lot of Aphex Twin and I love sweet, "quiet storm"-style R&B," says Geist. "I figured, why not?"

Chicago's Ten City have long been one of the most respected and successful vocal house groups to emanate from the city since the late 80s. The groups original and unique style fused elements of gospel and soul with acoustic, orchestral arrangements, underpinned by the throb of Chicago's house sound. Featuring the powerhouse production and vocal stylings of Marshall Jefferson with Byron Stingily, 'Be free’ is the first new release from the group since 1994. ‘Be Free’ - originally released in 2021 - was the sonic natural continuity of cult releases and worldwide club hits such as ‘That’s the way love is’ and ‘Devotion’ that have never left dance-floors, discerning DJs and dancers' hearts and memories since.

Dimitri From Paris has naturally been a fan of Ten City from the very beginning. Upon hearing 'Be Free' he reached out to producer Marshall Jefferson to ask him to remix his new song ‘Music Saved My Life’, and after a quick chat Marshall asked if Dimitri could remix ‘Be Free’ in return and a deal was struck. As with most of his work, Dimitri used all of the original production, respectively and intuitively adding a few extra touches for maximum dance-floor potential. It is no surprise then that this long awaited vinyl release of 'Be Free' comes with Marshall Jefferson and Byron Stingily's full approval, with Byron even being quoted as saying that Dimitri's new version is ‘one of my favourite mixes of one of my songs ever!’

After years modestly honing his craft in Madrid and Tenerife and re-appropriating forgotten dollar bin gems for his label Ears On Earth, Jaisiel has found a home on Antinote with his shimmering ‘On the Universe’ EP. Tinged with a late 80s sound are 3 tracks of convertible top down, shirts unbuttoned, neon glow dance music.

Opening the Maxi 12” is the ecstatic ‘Talk To Nature’ replete with chirps, coos and woofs. Its catchy melody a subtle nod to ATB’s seminal anthem 9PM (Till I Come) which was once quoted as sublimating sexuality with its “purring titillation”. There is an equally evocative fluidity to ‘Talk To Nature’ found in Jaisiel’s use of pitch bent guitar, climaxing snare rolls and pounding kick drum. However it’s all very lighthearted when compared to ‘Embrace The Unknown’ a driving and mystical track filled with vocoder commands, tinny drones and synth stabs whose accompanying pointed bass line makes this the perfect song for peak time transitions. Raving into the sunrise on the Carretera El Saler is ‘On The Universe’ a contemplative and melancholic closer. Still vibrating with residual dance NRG, the central vocoder breakdown beckons you to reach for trance, to consider The Universe, as it were.

What ties together this On The Universe EP is Jaisiel’s penchant to upcycle 80s and 90s trance dance sounds in a clear and fresh flavour, distinctly Spanish, while simultaneously using just-enough-cheese catch phrases without being too cliché or pastiche. ‘Dark Farfisa’ is the debut EP by Bruxula, the studio project of Toronto’s Cosmic JD and Jerusa Leao. Firmly rooted in the city’s music scene, JD runs the Hypnotic Mindscapes parties and label whilst Jerusa works as a singer and multi-instrumentalist exploring traditional and fusion sounds centered around a Brazilian music repertoire. Introduced to us by our mutual friend Raf Reza, the pair began to jam together in the summer of 2020 with JD curious to incorporate Jerusa’s vocals into his often club-focused electronic productions. The results sit somewhere between the dancefloor and the living room, a psychedelic range of rhythm, melody and vocal harmonies that felt like an immediate fit for us.

First sharing an early mix of ‘Pala Mo’, the rest of the EP began to form quickly based on further recording sessions and we at 12th Isle are ecstatic to share their work with the world.

Zapatilla, better known as Louis Hackett, is a founding member of Brownswood 's Owiny Sigoma Band and key collaborator on Eska's Mercury nominated debut album, but has a neat side hustle making house music with one foot in the gentle melodies of Balearic beat and another in the irresistible energy of Afrobeat. It's a recipe that he continues over onto this fine four tracker, which opens with the smoothly grooving but lively 'Like Dat' before 'Zimzimmer' builds up around a gently frenetic Afro guitar riff. On the flip, 'Disco Facial' is slower and more retro, with a synth line that could be from a lost John Carpenter soundtrack. 'Self Isolated' completes the package in its most esoteric fashion, another synth work rooted in the past, this time perhaps echoing the approachable experimentalism of Jean Jacques Perry.

Top tier tackle from Heels & Souls Recordings for their fourth reissue as they let loose a much anticipated double header, Gold In The Shade’s 'Over You' backed with 'Shining Through'. Rough, tough, straight-from-the-heart ‘90s street soul, coming courtesy of TSR bossman Robert Roper and the Gold In The Shade ladies Arletta Davis and Sonia Johnson. One of the most sought-after cuts of this scene, it encompasses much of what made street soul special - heavy bass, gritty breaks, emotive chords and off-kilter vocals, marrying together to form a snapshot of a raw DIY scene with optimism at its heart.

The trio’s first single from 1990, ‘Shining Through’ is a no nonsense, bassbin-rattling love song from the underground, seeing long-term friends Sonia and Arletta pulling on the heartstrings from the mic as Robert works his magic behind the studio controls.

Lovingly remastered from the DAT by Cicely Balston, if only ‘Over You’ had been so easy. Two years of endless searching for the tape and subsequently a clean copy of the record, Heels & Souls even went to the lengths of having the multitracks restored so that Robert could attempt to recreate the original mixdown in the studio – but the magic of ‘91, unfortunately, can’t simply be conjured at the drop of a hi-hat.

After all but losing hope, Sean P (by way of Backatcha’s Aiden Leacy), came to the rescue with a mint condition copy of the record that he had from running in the same circles as Robert and Duval back in the day, ripping and restoring it with a precision he’s rightly famed for. And so (finally!) here it is: distorted samples, low-fi hits, speaker rumbling bassweight and all. Raw to the core, but that’s the point – pure, unbridled emotion from the depths of North West London.

Fully licensed from Robert Roper, 20% of profits from Heels & Souls Recordings and Prime Direct Distribution will be donated to Lives Not Knives, a youth-led London-based charity, working to prevent knife crime, serious youth violence and school exclusions.

Dance floor tool release by supposedly star-on-the-rise disc jockey – DJ Rambo. We have no idea who this person is, but one could guess this is one way to find out. Some rather heated opinions on the track list, but politics apart, A1 features a downtempo chugger yet unconventionally dubbed out version of what sounds like an early German Euro House production. A2 shifts gears with Italo tinted sexy house beats. On the flip side 90's Merengue sounds with ravey samples and dubbed out soap opera esque vocals. Lastly, a climatic commentator recording of what seems to be a football match between Brazil and Argentina.

Rocksteady Disco returns with a remix record for the first time since 2018, with new versions from Igor B, Blair French, Dazzle Drums, and Eddie Logix. The whole EP takes heavy inspiration from Pan-African sounds, with Ontario-based Igor B leading the release with a drum and sub bass heavy dance floor reimagining of Moonlighter’s iconic “Give Us Rain (Ah Mila)”. Blair French picks up where Igor left off, channeling his inner King Sunny Ade for his remix of Sol Power All-Star’s “Every Time You Move”. He taps in Jazzanova’s Paul Randolph for electric bass duties, dubs out Frank Martin’s (Elcados, Shina Peters, Tyna Onwudiwem, and many more) guitar, and extends DC-based Besufekad Tadesse’s baritone sax solo for afro dance floor bliss. The insanely-prolific (as well as simply, insane) Danger Boys are most likely no stranger to your ears. In the past few years, the Neapolitan duo of (Raffaele Arcella) Whodamanny and (Enrico Fierro) Milord has churned out innumerable releases (both as solo artists and with their projects THE Normalmen and Mystic Jungle Tribe, of which the duo comprises 2/3) that have infected dance floors the world over. Here, the duo inhabits their latest incarnation/incantation: Danger Boys. The result: a postapocalyptic, post-punk, disco-not-disco masterpiece that sounds like a record you dug out of a dusty flea market bin in Mexico City in 1982 - or maybe 2082 - hard to truly say. The EP starts off with the spaced-out chugger, Monsters From the Future - which drags you into their bizarre universe, before ratcheting up the tempo for the rest of the EP. Next up is Mind Control Musique, which delivers an insanely catchy chorus sung in a non-existent language. Then - the B-side - where Danger Boys opt to sing in Spanish for two versions of Gringo Tropicana, a track which is already becoming a staple of numerous prominent DJ’s summer festival sets (including Bradley Zero, Yu SU, and Artwork, to name a few). 'Two Sides Of Sympathy' combines a pair of P.T.A. mash-ups built around Amerie, Massive Attack and the Rolling Stones. A signature GW edit, originally pressed in 2007, that would feature in his classic 2009 Essential Mix.

'Gotta Keep Workin' It was a GW mash-up pressed back in 2005, its main elements being PM Dawn (sampling Imagination) and Missy Elliot. It would also find it's way into the Essential Mix. A later version, 'Working The Illusion', this time going straight to source with Imagination, whilst retaining Missy Elliot's rap, is made available here for the first time as a bonus addition.

Joining the dots between Brazilian musical culture and the sonic melting pot that is New York City, Saidera are a trio on the rise. They’ve already released a pair of critically acclaimed, carnival-ready singles on Brooklyn’s Let’s Play House label and are now ready to make their debut on Leng Records.

The band’s roots can be traced back to a trip that Lemonade band member Alex Pasternak made to Brazil in 2014. While DJing at a house party in the bohemian Rio de Janeiro neighbourhood of Sta Teresa, Pasternak was left gobsmacked when a mysterious local singer/sambista Vadinho Freire, grabbed the mic and started freestyling lyrics and melodies over his set. Realising their instinctive musical connection, Pasternak and Freire decided to work together on some music, with New Yorker Le Chev joining them to complete the Saidera trio.

Now based in Rio and California, the group’s sun-soaked sound – which they describe as “samba disco-Afro melody” – is a cross-cultural stew in which infectious Brazilian percussion, colourful synth sounds, glistening guitars and celebratory vocals combine to create magical, life-affirming musical moments.

‘Luzes Da Cidade’, their first outing on Leng, encapsulates all that’s good about the Saidera sound and the trio’s approach to music. The song is about identity and connection and in its original form is languid, loved-up and joyous, with acoustic and electric guitars, Portuguese vocals and Korey Riker’s gently breezy flute solos rising above a squelchy synth bassline and energetic, sweat-soaked samba drums.

The song’s main mix comes accompanied by a wonderful instrumental pass featuring more extensive solos by Riker, and Saidera’s own remix of ‘Luzes Da Cidade’ – an extra-percussive, breakbeat-tinged fusion of hazy deep house, energetic samba and sunset-ready synth-disco that will delight DJs and dancers alike.

To round off the EP, Saidera has delivered a brand new “Uprockin Dub” of debut single ‘Deixa Tudo Fluir’, this time with female vocals from Irina Bertolucci taking the lead. Brilliantly kaleidoscopic sonically, with dub delay-laden vocals, guitars and flutes, it’s a superb, life-affirming Balearic reggae interpretation of a now familiar favourite. If you’re not singing along with the chorus after your first listen, we’d be very surprised.

""It's the Monkey !" is one of the most striking and unique reissues of Best Record to date, rises like a flame from the history of the Italo-Disco. Very well arranged and enriched by a creative use of many different sounds. There is nothing else quite like it! Strada was born in a studio where the extraordinary arrangers Ennio Tricomi, Enzo Vallicelli and Romano Trevisani work with Enza Kucic's superb vocal skills, their favorite backing singer of Crusin' Records. "It's the Monkey", considered to be one of the Top Five Italo-Disco tracks of all time, is a electro monster with all kinds of weird sounds and effects, wicked synth stabs, very original use of drum kits and arpeggios! There is nothing else that looks and sounds like this piece apart from "Raging Waters" by Al Jarreau in the 12" Dance Remixed by Judy Weinstein and Larry Levan. But how can one claim that someone copied Levan when Strada's album was releases three months earlier? "Street Dance" on the flip is an underrated electronic track with a deep dance potential, rhythmically slightly slower, with very catchy synth strings. One thing that is written in stone even in these days of near endless uncertainty is that when Topical Disco unleashes one of their vinyl releases they are a no questions asked, must have. For a label which regularly dominates the top spot of the download charts they still consistently manage to up the ante for their vinyl drops. It’s no wonder at all that the previous editions have gone on to become collector’s editions, disappearing from the shelves as quickly as you can say here today, gone tomorrow. Volume 24 easily keeps this incredible run of club vinyl masterpieces going strong. Packed across two side of black gold are tracks from newcomers and scene heavy hitters alike Toscana, Toby O’Conner, Charly Angelz and Frank Virgilio. The mysterious Toscana leads the way with the wonderfully enigmatic ‘The Girl With The Red Hair’, a six and a half minute slice of pleasure packed Balearic disco. Incessant, warm and inviting it combines a divine groove heavy bassline, funky guitar licks and a subtle percussive backbone with a rather brilliant stand-out guitar solo. This is a track which is guaranteed to fill those summer dancefloors. Next up is Toby O’Conner who is returning to Tropical Disco after his lauded ‘The Heist / 1920 EP’ with another high energy slice of disco goodness in the shape of ‘Cave Of Gold’. Again this is classic Tropical Disco, combing both live chops with jazz overtones as throbbing club ready drums provide the framework for a bubbling bassline, subtle keys and sax solo’s aplenty to weave their magic. Expect jazz inspired shapes to be thrown on dancefloors across the globe when this one drops. Over on the flip is Charly Angelz, another artist who has been making a considerable swirl on the disco scene of late. ‘Mother Phunk’ is very aptly named with an absolute gem of a bassline front and centre as classic funk vocal chops, vibey pads and guitar stabs all combine perfectly with earworm strings for anther sure fire floor filler. Closing the EP out is scene stalwart Frank Virgilio. Samosa Records continue their hot streak with ‘The Difference EP’ - a superb four tracker from a producer who is all about the funk, Gledd. This wonderfully constructed EP kicks off with the first track on the A-side - ‘I Don’t Know’. From the get go, this is a slinky, catchy funky number. The warm, all consuming bass line jogs along, aided by subtle guitar riffs that light up the melody. The chugging train suddenly breaks for an outrageous blues vocal - deep growls and female backing singers take control before the track launches straight into the stratosphere. A guaranteed dance floor bomb. Next up on the A-side is ‘Amapola Sunrise’, a latin infused 125bpm slice of heaven. Gledd knows these rhythms inside out - and this hypnotic ‘love dance’ of a track proves it. You can only imagine the sunrises and sunsets this will provide the soundtrack to. It’s a deep, glorious journey into hedonism - let the lead guitar and sax take you by the hand to the rug-pull breakdown. Gledd at his incomparible best. Meanwhile, over on Side B, De Gama is setting out the party stall early with his ‘Re-Groove’ of Muni. When De Gama masters the grooves in the ‘Re’Groove’ workshop, the flames can be seen for miles. African horns, organ stabs and Mali-inspired guitar riffs combine with the superb vocals. It’s a tribal, ethereal and very spiritual funk dream, which is De Gama’s trademark. Closing off this excellent EP is B.2 - ‘Japan Lips’. In no time, we’re off around the seedy back street bars where gifted but washed up bass players hang out to find work. The bass line is as clean as a whistle as it kicks against the snares and cymbals of the beat, and the melody wraps around you instantly with rhythm guitar, jazz flute and breaks. Another mesmerising piece from a man who knows how to mesmerise. The perfect topper to this thoroughbred release. ‘The Difference EP’ is a welcome Samosa debut for Gledd and is sure to be a hit with lovers of the groove. This has to be in your collection. The sixth release on Italian imprint Tempo Dischi comes from Alessandro Bernabeo, aka Raduan, the Italian DJ and producer behind 'Taki-Naki-Naki', one of the most eclectic and unconventional electronic records made in Italy in the late 1980s.

"At the age of 7, I started attending a music school learning to play the piano. At 11 I began working as a speaker in various radio stations, and at 14, I joined Punto Radio where I grew up professionally and launched my own radio show, Play Music, under the name Alessandro Giordani. The success was impressive, and thanks to my friend Gianfranco di Lizio, I also started my DJ career by playing in some of the best dance clubs under the artist name Raduan or Rad-one. Mixing funk, soul, afro and cosmic disco in my music gave me a chance to meet and establish relationships with many of the protagonists of this new musical scene, like l’Ebreo, Fari, Maselli, Claudio Mozart Rispoli, Pery, Rubens. In 1988 I was a resident DJ in a well-known club at the time, the 'rio Club', and together with my keyboardist and percussionist, I had the idea to produce a maxi single. The song was recorded in about 40 hours without sleep at the Cicero Bros studio in Cassino in April 1988, with the support of Lino Rufo, a great artist from Molise, as well as his dear friend and old producer Toni Ochiello. The initial project was completely reworked. The original sampled drums were coupled with an acoustic one, and new melodies and fantastic spacey new sounds and effects were created by keyboardist Bengha. The hypnotic and repetitive voice of Cristina, Claudio Baglioni's background vocalist at the time, and that of Jamaica, originally from Mauritius, made the project even more interesting. 'Taki Naki Naki' is an Italo song, with Cosmic disco and Afro influences, and it's the title track of the EP originally released in June 1988 on Bmg Ariola, ex RCA. The EP includes two other songs 'Nightflight' and 'Hiroshima'. The record was a big hit in all the Italian Disco clubs and launched me into the international dance music scene. It was a fantastic time, with different styles of music and House Music was also on the way. There was a lot of research spirit and the people of the club were ready for various types of change. This record has left a mark, international DJs and shops from all over the world still contact me to ask if I have a vinyl copy left in my archive."

Bianca Binky only ever made a handful of records, the majority of which have long been forgotten by all but the most dedicated fans of late-‘80s European synth-pop and crossover house. ‘Tabu’, her final solo single from 1990, is different: a gorgeous, tactile chunk of piano-sporting Balearic house from the time when dancing under the stars at Amnesia was a rite of passage for clubbers from all over Europe, has undoubtedly stood the test of time. Something of a sought-after classic, with keen collectors willing to spend hundreds of Euros on an original 12” single, ‘Tabu’ remains a loved-up, life-affirming dance-floor gem.

It also happens to be a firm favourite of NuNorthern Soul founder Phil Cooper, who has gone to great lengths to produce a deluxe reissue of the hard-to-find Balearic anthem. Original producer Felix B Mangione, head of Blanco Y Negro Records, had long since lost the original master tapes, so Cooper flew from Ibiza to Barcelona to pick up one of the only mint copies still available, before forwarding high-quality digital transfers on to Robin Lee for remastering.

The results speak for themselves. The original mix, a breezy, sun-soaked fusion of synthesised marimba melodies, spine-tingling piano riffs, dreamy chords, Chicago-style Tb-303 bass and Binky’s sensual spoken word vocals, naturally opens proceedings, and is joined on the A-side of the 12” by the original, alternative ‘House Mix’ - more club friendly version that beefs up the beats, emphasises the undulating bassline and offers occasional blasts of spacey synth.

This reissue edition also includes an exclusive, never-before-heard re-edit of the legendary ‘Caribbean Dub’ – first featured on the flip-side of the original release - from Manchester’s finest, Ruf Dug. Tough, effects-laden, bass-heavy and positively epic, Ruffy’s version is arguably the ultimate version of a piano-laden, Tb-303 driven Balearic house classic: ten minutes of rising and falling, saucer-eyed dance-floor bliss that’s surely destined to be one of the most-played tracks of summer 2022.

After just over a year-long hiatus from the Earthly Tapes series – the 3rd Chapter is finally upon us. Offering more mind-altering tracks to the series, we welcome 6 new members to the Earthly Measures familia! We kick things off with ‘Comets (part I & Ii)’, the first release by Orso, the new musical project from Jean Dasso AKA Yeahman, stepping into club and drum music. Alongside faster rhythms, with influences of UK Break music, African dances and traditional instruments, we’re taken through a two-chapter journey led by modular melodic loops, old traditional voices samples and Orso’s own recordings. Up next is a trip to Argentina as we welcome Balam to the EM family, join him as he takes you on a daydream across the Latin-American rainforest where synthesizers and nature collide to create the perfect mix, guided by a voice from the deep jungle. ‘Ensueño’ is a dance-floor tool fitting for both the start and end of the night. Japanese native Mamazu steps up the tempo for the third track ‘Tombi’. Transporting us to a hypnotic and hedonistic state as delightful aerophones sound with the exotic chant, delivering the feeling of a dry breeze from the unseen frontier. Another dance floor ripper! The B-side starts with ‘Voces’, a track inspired by the music that Chilean artist DJ Raff’s mum listened to when he was a teenager making beats in his bedroom. He used to take her records and tapes to sample and make boom-bap beats. Voces is influenced by both Spanish and Chilean 70’s music, although deconstructed to make an amazingly catchy melody. . Ditti takes us through an ever-twisting groove as we swim upstream, spot a wave and take off... welcome to ‘Poly Party’. The soundtrack to a carnivalesque funked out ballad on a Polynesian beach shifting between the rhythms of a guitar & riding the surf, cutting synths & dripping flows. We wrap things up with ‘Small Town Rebellion’, a story told by Scottish producer Kusht – this downtempo chugger reflects the story of a young man in a dead-end town with no future. He needs to break his fate and carve his own path by revolting and manifesting his own destiny.

Israeli producer Nenor delivers a 4-tracker of impeccably produced dancefloor weapons for his second outing on Razor-N-Tape. Since releasing on Moodyman’s legendary Mahogani label a few years back and as part of duo Rabo & Snob, Nenor has been honing his craft in the studio, and now puts his skills on full display on an EP that ranges from the poppy disco house of 'How Can I Be Free' to the deep Larry Heard-esque textures of 'Do You Remember,' and the gritty underground bangers of the title track and 'Work That.' He did indeed take his time on this beautifully crafted record, and the result is something quite special.
