Tooflie is a vinyl-only label based somewhere on the shores of the Baltic Sea that brings authentic music from all over the world right to the dance floors. For the first release, we have collected four oriental DJ edits and original tracks with the smell of saffron and the taste of curry, seasoned with a passion for industan.

Hot on the heels of Guinu’s modern Brazilian jazz-funk opus Palagô LP, comes an exceptional remix 12’’ of four standout album tracks.

For the A1, Jose Marquez flips the title track into a percussion-heavy and hypnotic Afro-Latin house burner, a masterful future classic of a mix that feels all but destined for late night Louie Vega or Osunlade sets. Faze Action harken back to their early-2000s vibe with their loungey beat-driven reimagining of 'Haja Fé'.

On the flip, RNT stalwart Diogo Strausz takes the angular 'Electromandinga' into the stratosphere, with anthemic synth melodies, rousing bloco percussion and interstellar vocal treatments. Rounding out the EP, well-loved Brazilian producer Carrot Green gives 'Porão de Ferro' an '80s boogie makeover, complete with dubbed out vocals and funky synth bass work over bouncy analog beats.

Right on, right on! The Godfather of Soul gets a fresh feeling of funk courtesy of the main man Opolopo with these two exquisite edits. On one side the extended, on the flip the instrumental, Opolopo’s ready to get up and do his thang, giving a modern twist to this funked up dancefloor bomb.

Another disastrous assortment of DJ tools for the adventurous Jock, featuring newcomer DJ Piñatas star turntablist, alleged winner of the DMC World DJ Championship in Formentera. A side starts with proto-house flavored drum action from lower latitudes, moving onto portuguese slow jam synth pop featuring female and kindergarten vocals over more chunky drum generosity. B side features a lazy edit of a well known 90s hit which will most likely land DJ Piñatas a special DJ set in the courtroom, followed by almost 7 minutes of recordings of various helicopter models landing and taking off. Don't ask...

How do you breathe new life into a treasured, classic track? Answer: let Danny Krivit loose on it! Who better to inaugurate our Mr Bongo Edit Series than one of the bosses of the art of the edit. More than just simple re-touches or loops to make the track easier to mix, Danny works his magic by employing all those years of studying and working with music as a remixer, producer and DJ. He has been honing his craft since the art form began and he seems to have a natural intuition for what works on the dancefloor. When we asked Danny if he would be interested in reworking some tracks from Mr Bongo's back catalogue we knew the edits would be special, but Danny has outdone himself with these beauties, and arguably they are more than just edits. By sheer chance, Danny had already worked on a rough personal mix of Sabu Martinez's 'Hotel Alyssa-Sousse, Tunisia’, a track taken from the treasured 'Afro Temple' album originally released in 1973. Danny just needed to freshen and tighten it up to a standard he was happy with, and the result is pure Latin fire. The Belgian / Dutch orchestra leader Nico Gomez's 'Lupita' from 1971 is an undisputed banger, this underground Latin-crossover favourite has been causing mayhem on dancefloors for years. Here Danny takes it into another sphere adding extra drama and build-ups, adding and overlaying fresh percussion which sounds like it could have been taken from lost outtakes. Even those who may have heard 'Lupita' countless times, are sure to be impressed by the new lease of life that Danny has breathed into it. 2 huge tracks and 2 killer edits from a master of the craft.

A decade is a long time in music, but it feels less epic when the music in question is timeless, picturesque, and immersive. Four years after Nuova Napoli, Nu Genea are back with Bar Mediterraneo, a new album and journey, which projects the sounds of the Neapolitan duo formed by Massimo Di Lena and Lucio Aquilina even further. Nu Genea's Bar Mediterraneo is an idea of a shared place where people meet and fuse together; a space that leaves its doors open to travellers and their lives, always exposed to the whims of fate. Some of this can be experienced through the multitude of sounds that come together in the tracks, layers of different acoustic instruments, voices and synthesizers merging in a unique musical blend. Opening up to the voices of many different people, separated by languages but united by the sea and the music, Nu Genea's hometown, Napoli, becomes a true place of encounter. You can hear this all along. In "Gelbi", a gorgeously deep and propulsive Ney flute plunges into murky waters of the melancholic Tunisian dialect sung by Marzouk Mejri. In "Marechia'", unbridled happiness and sun ooze from the delicate vocals of Célia Kameni and create an acrobatic bridge between French and Neapolitan language. In "Straniero", your soul is arrested from the moment the slow spell-binding mandolin ignites the hypnotic patterns recorded by the legendary Afrobeat drummer Tony Allen. In "Bar Mediterraneo", the title track, bittersweet guitar’s riffs, analog waves and choirs are overwhelming the song giving you what you would like to hear on a boat trip along the Amalfi Coast. Nu Genea couldn't afford to overlook their firmly anchored roots into the Neapolitan culture and its dialect with "Tienaté", where the power of neapolitan language (interpreted by Fabiana Martone) supports those quarter-tone strings and the uncessant folk-disco groove that spreads to the entire song. In "Praja Magia", repetitive mandolin riffs lead the song, giving space to a choral yet tight vocal line that speaks of Varcaturo, a village close to Napoli. In "Rire", a volley of poetic, deceptively laidback, lyrical fury interpreted by Sicilian Marco Castello intimately combines with a highly musical, multitextured instrumental backbone and the swoon of a chanson in its heart. In "La Crisi'', the lyrics of a Raffaele Viviani’s poem from 1930 have been adapted to a laidback jazz-funk groove in full NG style. In "Vesuvio", revaluing the evocative verses and powerful mantra of Vesuvio, Nu Genea re-adapted to the dancefloor a folk song by the working-class band E’ Zezi from Pomigliano D'Arco, combining the voices of a school choir with Jupiter-6 arpeggios and bold percussions. Bar Mediterraneo is the place where people constantly return to transform curiosity into participation, tradition into sharing, unfamiliar into familiar. When travellers come through its “doors”, carrying their treasures of words and emotions, they aren’t strangers any more. They take part in a shared experience, enriching themselves and others by leading to unexpected musical journeys.

On the flip, ‘Sun’ turns an unlikely cover of a classic into an Afro Disco banger, and ‘Simba’ rumbles and rolls with restraint toward a hypnotic peak of brass and vocals.

Backatcha with some sweet, sunshine fuelled Bali business. This time Pantai People send a call out across the ocean to Brooklyn’s finest and Razor-N-Tape royalty Jkriv. In true Jkriv style he packs a punch across four peak-time edits, specially selected for the dancefloor. From the gospel-tinged, disco house gem ‘Mountain’, to the soaring string laden epicness of ‘The House’ on the A. To the funk fuelled stomper ‘Down Slow’ and Latin loving ‘Terra Amor’, there truly is a cut for everyone on this EP.

Rome’s own disco wizard L.U.C.A. aka Francesco De Bellis is back for his second LP Terra, hot on the heels of his Venus 12” EP earlier this year. In this far-reaching album, the Edizioni Mondo founder explores the deteriorating relationship between Man and Nature, and the dire consequences. The album is split into two themes - part one is Consacrazione (Consecration) and side two is Coscienza (Conscience) - as L.U.C.A. charts a trip through mankind’s psychic universe, and imagines worlds beyond our physical dimension.

The opening composition Cities is an uptempo number that slowly comes into focus, as dreamy drum machines emerge from the urban bustle, before settling into a soulful groove as keyboard, upright bass and guitar figures dance across bright percussion. As it builds up a head of steam, the piece gives way to an ambient, tribal breakdown, which is also echoed in the following song, Drum Talk. This second tune sets up in a fourth world dreamscape of drums, synths, and abstracted echo effects, and is peppered with word fragments from the bush of ghosts. By the time we’ve reached the third track, Congiunzione sounds like travelling at singularity speed, beaming in from a future where human consciousness and gaia can finally dance on a cosmic plain.

Part two of Terra details how revelation of the spirit can guide the mind, as Time Spirals rises out of a drum motif with a nod to classic ragas, as a disembodied voice asks questions on the nature of corporeality. The sound design is just as front and centre as the sitar and fretless bass, and the song gives way to a richly-layered soup that sounds like the vast space between atoms. It’s this shift from composition to ambience that is the dynamic core of Terra, giving L.U.C.A. plenty of space to showcase his next-level audio and arranging skills. Midway through part two, Giallo Assoluto begins with reverb tails and choral voices before expanding in brightness and texture until the audio field is practically levitating your hi-fi speakers, vibrating them with drones, twinkling keys and shards of digital noise. The closing composition Ritorno al Domani is a perfect balance of optimism and mystery. Tension and release collapse in on themselves as waves of ambient pads crescendo and then break over stretched-out sonic turbulence, before reversed synths bring the listener to a closing door, and the end of the journey.

It’s a mind-expanding musical exploration of other worlds and parallel universes which are surely all around us, and in many ways serve to remind us of the marvel that is our own planet.

One thing that is written in stone even in these days of near endless uncertainty is that when Topical Disco unleashes one of their vinyl releases they are a no questions asked, must have. For a label which regularly dominates the top spot of the download charts they still consistently manage to up the ante for their vinyl drops. It’s no wonder at all that the previous editions have gone on to become collector’s editions, disappearing from the shelves as quickly as you can say here today, gone tomorrow. Volume 24 easily keeps this incredible run of club vinyl masterpieces going strong. Packed across two side of black gold are tracks from newcomers and scene heavy hitters alike Toscana, Toby O’Conner, Charly Angelz and Frank Virgilio. The mysterious Toscana leads the way with the wonderfully enigmatic ‘The Girl With The Red Hair’, a six and a half minute slice of pleasure packed Balearic disco. Incessant, warm and inviting it combines a divine groove heavy bassline, funky guitar licks and a subtle percussive backbone with a rather brilliant stand-out guitar solo. This is a track which is guaranteed to fill those summer dancefloors. Next up is Toby O’Conner who is returning to Tropical Disco after his lauded ‘The Heist / 1920 EP’ with another high energy slice of disco goodness in the shape of ‘Cave Of Gold’. Again this is classic Tropical Disco, combing both live chops with jazz overtones as throbbing club ready drums provide the framework for a bubbling bassline, subtle keys and sax solo’s aplenty to weave their magic. Expect jazz inspired shapes to be thrown on dancefloors across the globe when this one drops. Over on the flip is Charly Angelz, another artist who has been making a considerable swirl on the disco scene of late. ‘Mother Phunk’ is very aptly named with an absolute gem of a bassline front and centre as classic funk vocal chops, vibey pads and guitar stabs all combine perfectly with earworm strings for anther sure fire floor filler. Closing the EP out is scene stalwart Frank Virgilio. Hailing from Napoli Frank has been behind a virtual disco smorgasbord over the five years including regular chart bothering appearances on Tropical disco. ‘What We Love’ tips its hat to the golden era of house music, think 90’s Soulfuric meets MAW. Vibes abound here from the classic drum sounds right through to the divine ethereal percussion which adds that touch of class. This is another track which will sound just perfect on the golden Isle this coming summer, did some-one say Ibizan boat party? We’re onboard! Support across Mi Soul & House FM.

Mike Maurro does it again. Another slice of Philadelphia International Records gold from the legend Lou Rawls, officially licensed, taken from the master tapes and given that signature Maurro touch. Two all-time classics ‘You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine’ and ‘See You When I Git There’ re-worked for the modern dancefloor.

D’Arabia is back on House of Disco with come sleazy Italo flavour across two originals, ‘Continuamente’ featuring DJ Rou and ‘Sempre Meglio’ featuring Brine. If that wasn’t juicy enough already, Giovanni Damico and Hot Toddy get given the keys to the HOD residence laying down remixes of the title track with their own distinctive touch.

Cast your mind back to the parties in 90s Rimini, or the Tunnel Club or Magazzini Generali in Milan. Cruising in your tiny Fiat hire, drenched in that balmy Mediterranean vibe of a scene and the best- looking Italian house and funk party you’d ever experienced. But Italy has had a long relationship with funk and soul well before the 90s, that stemmed from American R&B artists appealing to Italian audiences way back in the 60s. In 70s Italy the Umbria Jazz Festival opened, at the same time the soul-funk sound of Napoli Centrale was directly influenced by the nearby American bases. Italo Disco experienced global success, with Italy’s musical pioneers coming up with the hybrid of bass over melodies. The Italian Funk attitude was born. Following the success of the first volume in 2019, Italo Funk curators, Eli Soul Clap and Lele Sacchi have since been hard at work compiling the much anticipated second volume dedicated to Italian cultural icon, Claudio Coccoluto who we sadly lost earlier this year. The continuation of the Italo Funk Story takes us on yet another trip through Italy. From 'Venaria’, a little village just outside of Turin where Stump Valley offer a blissful taste of the regions deep house flavours. To Puglia, where Rollover DJs present 'Buonasera’, a slow building, bucolic jam. Rocco Universal’s 'Somewhere Else’ tips it’s hat to Detroit, but of course with a healthy touch of 80s Italo. DJ Rocca sweeps us away to Reggio Emilia and serenades us with his jazz flute on 'Don’t Be Worried’ only to join us again under his collaborative project with Capofortuna as Roccacapofortuna on the peak time bomb 'Potage’. Capofortuna; the duo of DJ Rame & Funk Rimini, delivers festival bound heat, while Funk Rimini takes us on a vivacious visit that balmy coast of the Adriatic Sea. Lele Sacchi & Brioski pick us up and drops us in Milano for a taste of both the old, and nu-school combined. To Claudio’s legacy, and the great artists of Italy.

Tiptoes joins the SlothBoogie roster this October with the ‘Good Times Incoming’ EP, comprised of four originals from the Scottish artist. Hailing from Glasgow, Scotland, Tiptoes is a time-served DJ/Producer who has been in the game for over 15 years and has performed at a variety of venues worldwide. As a DJ, Tiptoes sound traverses from Jazz to Jungle through Detroit, Disco, Techno, Garage, Broken Beat, Deep House and everything in between, always finding that balance between energy and soul which crosses over into his productions also. Up first on the package is ‘Born Slippery’, a filter house workout fuelled by an amalgamation of funk infused bass, guitar and brass licks alongside swinging drums and dynamic filter work. ‘Green Room’ follows next and lays down soulful strings, stuttering vocal cuts and plucked bass atop an organic drum groove. Opening the flip-side is ‘Right Here’, stripping things back to robust drums, jazzy keys and processed vocal chants before ‘Alright’ rounds out the release via airy keys, moog like synth licks and crunchy lo-fi percussion.

Clive From Accounts has entered the meeting! A relative newcomer to the scene, his name may conjure mundane images of faxes, spreadsheets and dull chat by the water cooler, but Mr Clive has turned in a beautifully realized 4 tracker of slick deepness for his first outing on RNT Reserve. From the epic crescendo of Tell Me, the lush and wistful vibe of Without Your Love, to the quirky sampled groove of the EP’s title track, finishing with the icey late nate breaks-meets-bass thud of Yukon, this record is Strictly Business indeed, and the best kind.

My Friend Dario is back on Hell Yeah this August with more of his low tempo, high-temperature dance floor bombs. Dario has been carefully nurtured by label head Marco over the course of a few fresh EPs in the last year. Just before this EP lands he will release on Nu Northern Soul, and earlier in the year he served up a stunning live set at the foot of iconic volcano Etna, so is very much part of the current wave of Balearic tastemakers. Opener 'Desertico' has already been caned by Alfos chief Sean Johnston who recognises the power of its heavyweight chug. Over the course of nearly ten minutes and two epic breakdowns, the tune builds on supple techno pulses, with tense synth phrases keeping you in suspense before the drop brings a sense of tropical rain and thunder. 'Sunset Outro' was the last track from his live set and gets your heady amongst the clouds. The churning drums, wooden hits and lush chords are dreamy yet heavy and have an effortlessly hypnotic effect that will lock in any dance floor. These two tunes prove My Friend Dario can do no wrong right now.

Zongamin returns with dubbed-out reworks of his 'O!' EP. Cult artist Susumu Mukai brings us into the fun-house of his musical process, re-playing and reworking his EP back-to-front, a far-out journey to the beginning of his last EP, an elliptical meditation on creation itself. Giving space to the strangeness, allowing the music to bend and warp while somehow managing to hold the centre. These are cosmic explorations, as inwardly rewarding as they are outwardly groovy.

Midnight Riot present Balearic Headspace - Volume 5 - Sampler 1, four sumptuous cuts that instantly take you to the White Isle, waves lapping up over those weary feet as the sun glistens out across the horizon. Taking in the eclecticism of the island with everything from boogie, soul, acid-tinged Rhodes goodness and smokey soundtrack jazz vibes from Dim Zach, Sophie Lloyd, Alena (with Crazy P’s Ron Basejam on the remix) and Peter Simmons.

Ed Wizard & Disco Double Dee channel that summer sun into this soulful house, Balearic and disco laced four tracker on their own label, Editorial, complete with a slice of Cody Currie remix brilliance. French DJ and producer Yuksek joins forces with Brisbane duo Confidence Man for the lead single from Yusek’s new studio album Nosso Ritmo, ‘Gorgeous’, with remixes coming from heavyweight’s, Mighty Mouse, Chloé, Dombrance and Jack Burton for an all killer, no filler Sweat It out package. A sweltering and sultry disco number, ‘Gorgeous’ captivates from the get-go with those irresistible vocals, scintillating synths and punchy drum programming getting the tingles running down your spine. This is the second pressing of the highly sought after “Spectrum LP” by Shook. It features the funky track “Milestones”, which gained international fame through its Better Call Saul soundtrack (Netflix 2015, SE01E01) . The tracks on this album could be seen as an ‘east meets west’ album with French electronic music influences to Japanese techno pop and jazz funk. Shook’s ability to blend his skills as a pure instrumentalist, and electronic music producer, into the signature sound of Spectrum, are the main ingredients for the success of Spectrum ever since in 2015. The characteristic sound partially originates from Shook’s use of historically renowned analog synthesizers, with every part recorded live in his home studio in the Netherlands.

Banana Hard & Disco Kisses is the 1st studio Album of Daniel Klein aka SIRS which follows some key EPs and has the sort of organic textures and realness of 70s soul and boogie funk that wasn’t too over produced.
It is a musically adventurous affair that reflects all assets of Klein’s sounds, from percussive beats, to soulful jams, Italo disco and sun touched tunes. For the third release on new LA based Pleasure of Love, Dublin’s Mix & Fairbanks deliver tasteful reinterpretations of italo, african house, and rare 80s disco. The Dublin duo have releases on Orange Tree Edits, 045 Recordings, and Hot Digits but have saved some of their best material yet for this 12 Inch.On the A side, the euphoric Azoto rework is a driving disco romp for 'any time or place,' while 'Purple' patiently builds on a hypnotic bass with rhodes and airy leads before a sweet flight attendant lead take off. The 'Bee Side' kicks off with a carefully crafted reimagination of an 80s african house groove with added analog leads and percussion while 'Forever' fills out the release as a peak time disco banger that’s built on the framework of a certain famously unsung disco genius.

2018 has a lot in store for London spiritual jazz outfit Emanative, with a full double LP and several remixes forthcoming, as well as some full live band appearances and DJ gigs. “Planet B” is the band’s first release of the year and it takes them in a slightly different direction, on a completely different vibration entirely, with an epic nine minute, almost post punk, afrobeat, disco and jazz inspired piece aimed at the leftfield dancefloor.

Sometimes there’s a huge talent out there and you desperately want the whole universe to discover it. That’s pretty much the story of Parisian label Chuwanaga with young French artist Koji Ono, composer and producer of these four precisely crafted gems, recording everything by himself.
Brilliantly mixed by Greita from Disques Flegon, his first EP Incognito is the product of a lot of influences, from Metro Area vibes to the original Britfunk sound. With an inner sense of elegance in the arrangements - something we may link to his Japanese heritage? - The whole EP brings musicality back on the dancefloor.
We believe this could be the beginning of a great story for this talented musician, Koji Ono emerging from the incognito shadow to the whole light of the world.

As ever, the next project on Opilec Music is one with a rich back story this time paying homage to a very specific disco scene of the early 80s: it finds label boss I-Robots turning out one of his brilliant reconstructions, namely of a classic and cult track by one hit wonders Ahzz.
This track was first released on Land of Hits, a label run by Peter Brown (who also wrote "Material Girl" for Madonna) and Michael Campbell and has now been officially licensed for this reissue by Opilec Music.
The track, 'New York's Movin'' was huge on the New York disco scene and was played by the likes of David Mancuso at The Loft, Larry Levan at The Paradise Garage and by Nicky Siano at Studio 54, but continued to be a big hit with modern New York tastemakers Kenny Dope, DJ Spinna, Danny Krivit and his Body & Soul party crew well into the 90s, as well as with stars like Motor City Drum Ensemble and Bulljun.
I-Robots is a notorious producer and record collector with a vast understanding of the history of house and disco and his version combines an original vocal and instrumental version into something really magical.
‘New York's Movin'' (I-Robots Reconstruction Take I) is a jangling, organic and lose limbed disco number with a funky drum line, soul in its bones and plenty of lovably rough percussion, clicks and drums.
A retro and impassioned vocal line adds flair to the track at the midpoint just before that groove kicks once more. This version is featured on the new I-Robots - Reconstructions 2007-2017 10th year Anniversary release.
‘New York's Movin'' (I-Robots Reconstruction Take II) is then just as emotive and outgoing but after the break has more of a focus on funk.
This is a huge party starting track filled with feel good vibes and once again proves Opilec Music work on only the most special projects.
