Deanna Belos has been a fixture in the Chicago punk scene since she was in Junior High,
attending shows, singing along, and raising hell in general. But she was more than just a
face in the crowd, Deanna was a radiant friend to all, and at some point she picked up a
guitar and made a different contribution the Chicago underground scene: her own music
under the name Sincere Engineer. Over the last couple years we've encouraged her to
keep writing songs and she surprised us all by assembling a great band and recording an

Straight outta the slums of Northwest Denver, Sack is a mysterious band of party punks with songs about bongs, bikers, and brothels. Like any disreputable gang, they've had some rotating members, but on Ripper! it's Kody (of The Lillingtons, Teenage Bottlerocket), a couple shredders from Peru, a gym teacher, and the neighborhood electrician (which comes in handy, believe me). Elway has stuck with us at Red Scare for a few years and now we've been rewarded with their best album yet. Or at least that's what they say. Fléau means Scourge in French and we could probably just leave it at that. The latest/wildest addition to the Red Scare pantheon comes from somewhere in France, and these four humans describe themselves as a, “Band of mercenaries”. All their songs are about battle and they wear Medieval helms when they play. At first we laughed nervously and thought it was all a gag, but this music is hardcore Oi! that’ll give you nightmares. Think of bands like The Templars, Rixe, Blitz, Noi!se, Lion’s Law, etc. This debut 4-song EP will definitely turn some heads in the Streetpunk world, so get on their good side before they invade the scene.

We’ve been fans of Broadway Calls for a while now and after years of pestering they finally gave in and joined the team. Their exact words were, “It would take a catastrophic act of god that destroyed the music industry for us to consider working with Red Scare.” And what do ya know! Thank you, 2020. (Ironically, the record is about the impending civil war and apocalypse… so maybe this is all their doing?!) Then we sent ‘em down to the Bay Area to work with Scott Goodrich (Culture Abuse, Direct Hit!, etc.) and they emerged with the best 11 songs we’ve ever heard from this Oregon trio. Sad In The City is fast, it’s loud, and most of all it is catchy as hell. It’s their finest full length and it’ll likely go down as one of the top releases in our entire catalog.

One of the Dillinger Four dudes sent us music from a young band outta Minneapolis, and as usual, we
groaned, rolled our eyes, and then grudgingly listened to the songs. WAIT A SEC. Holy shit… this
band RIPS! (Super catchy and sounds like The Copyrights playing Dude Ranch). A new band with a
great demo… is this a trap? We reached out right away and basically demanded that they join us at
Red Scare. They’re called Tightwire, and they’re giving you 13 self-recorded blasts on this debut
album entitled, Six Feet Deep, mixed by Matt Allison (Alkaline Trio, Dead To Me, The Menzingers). The
two singers, Paul and Tane, offer the kind of dark/poppy jams you would expect from salty MPLS
punks: love songs, drinking songs, angry songs, drinking songs, funny songs, drinking songs,
etc. This should go down as one of the best pop-punk albums of the year, and you can expect
lotsa tours from this Midwest trio as they already have shows booked with Dillinger Four and
Off With Their Heads.
