BUSH TETRAS formed in 1979 out of NYCs No Wave/Post Punk/Art Funk/Dance Junk scene. The band's debut release TOO MANY CREEPS on the legendary 99 Records is one of that scenes defi ning moments, capturing perfectly the vibe of that very particular moment in NYC. BUSH TETRAS was one of the supporting acts for The Clash's mythical 17-show run at Bond International Casino in the spring of 81. Topper Headon also produced their Rituals EP for Stiff Records. In 1983, the members of BUSH TETRAS went their own ways and the band remained relatively quiet and elusive for the next several decades.

Original members Cynthia Sley, Dee Pop, and Pat Place now joined by Val Opielski taking over bass duties for the late Laura Kennedy. 2018 saw the release of Take The Fall ep on Wharf Cat Records the bands fi rst new music in 10+ years and the welcome return of BUSH TETRAS!!! This winter, we cleared our Cass Corridor showroom fl oor and enlisted the help of Third Man Mastering's Bill Skibbe and Warren Defever to record There is A Hum, Seven Years and Sucker is Born (Bandcamp exclusive).

It was quick and punk and magical.

Fucked Up got their start as many often do, making the rounds on punk and DIY circuits in Toronto, around Canada and later into the USA. Punk is a genre known for its velocity, brevity and politics, although here we have an almost complete inversion of those core traits: songs don’t race the clock, mythology and storytelling weaving fully realized narratives, and a bipartisan set with a 100% approval rating.

The label on this single hits the nail on the head - Michigan's singing cowboy! Despite a very long 45-year career in country music as a promoter, radio station operator, artist and label owner, very little is known about Earl Peterson. In late 1952, he formed Nugget Records with his mother, basically as a means of self-releasing his music.
While shopping his music down South, he met Sam Phillips and agreed to release his song on Sun Records in the spring of 1954. This bouncing, twangy single would prove to be a cult hit and original pressings still command a lofty price. As the first remotely contemporary country single on the label, Peterson's single paved the way for Sun to later pivot into the country genre.
From there, Peterson's story becomes a bit murkier. He recorded the same song for Columbia in the fall of 1954, strangely disregarding his contractual agreements with Sun. He went on to release a couple more singles with Columbia and by the '60s, was holed up in rural central Michigan to run a radio station (WPLB) with his family.

SHIRT has been heavily invested in the legendary NY rap underground and praised by

shit…melding high art with lowbrow aspiration; it's champagne and loosies, bottle service

release of Rap Money EP on Closed Sessions/Nike Adidas Records in 2015.
Pure Beauty is an ode to the work of artist John Baldessari and features his 1968 conceptual art
piece of the same name as the album artwork, courtesy of Baldessari and his team. The album's
central theme focuses on beauty in its simplest and rawest form-selected beats are recorded
and re-recorded, stripped down and left blaring. Verses exist as fi rst and only takes. iPhone
voice memos are dispersed throughout studio recordings; live conversations left unedited.
Pure Beauty was meant to drop as a self-released digital album in November 2017,
until Third Man Records entered the picture. In the 25th hour via Instagram DMs, SHIRT
responded to our DM slide and allowed us to listen to the record early.
With no physical version planned, Third Man offered to sign SHIRT, release Pure Beauty
digitally, and press this tour de force on vinyl at our pressing plant in Detroit.

Known for his work with The Gun Club, The Cramps and Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, Kid Congo and his band, The Pink Monkey Birds, have carved out a place for themselves in the competitive world of underground music by taking the building blocks of primeval rock and roll and pushing them to their furthest conceivable limits. Prominent members of the Boston music scene and post-rock specialists, Pile began as the brainchild (and solo project) of Rick Maguire in 2007. Out of the ashes of Toledo's Henry and June arose the mighty Soledad Brothers. This recording is the Soledad Brothers doing what they did best - houserockin' blues in full Midwestern malaise. As key players in a scene of like-minded minimalist garage groups, vocalist, guitarist and master of harmonica Johnny Walker and drummer/future Third Man Records co-founder Ben Swank, were playing shows in Detroit so often, it eventually just made sense for Ben to pay Jack rent and become his roommate. Luckily for us, Teddy and the Rough Riders have been burning up the Nashville underground over the past few years. With roots deep in psychedelia, the group stripped back all the trimmings to a Velvets rhythm section and steeped it in a Music Row dive bar for their own brand of country rock that is poppy, precise, well-educated and completely self-aware. What, then, would be the point of an exaggerated drawl or a convenient new interest in roping cattle? The Teddys' sound is country that, somewhat paradoxically, lives and breathes in the city.

So, it is fitting that their A-side single ''I Found Somethin''' throws down a strong psych card, with bassist Ryan Jennings' vocals leading us through a vibrant and playfully painted scene filled with a can of worms, desk drugs and big wet dogs. The second track ''Neon Cowboy'', guided this time by guitarist Jack Quiggins, dives down a rabbit hole of self-reflection and social questioning, with Luke Schneider's atmospheric pedal steel and Nick Swafford's always-tasteful drums giving it real backbone. For fans of The Byrds, Link Wray and CCR. This one's not to be missed.

Third Man is very excited to release the debut vinyl single from ''boogie trance'' trio Long Hots. What ink can we spill about this trio of Philadelphian rollers that hasn't already been hyperbolied in year-end lists worldwide? Their 'Monday Night Raw' cassette never left our deck since it's release and we're proud as all hell to release their first ever 7'' of fried zoner boogie blues.

Long Hots are the true Philly phrenetic, an unpolished combo of fuzzed out & agitated guitar, undercurrent bass choogle and bare bones drums. Theirs are the kind of long-form weighty psych jams that bring to mind heroes like Moe Tucker, Stooges and Dead Moon. Tasteful, smart, fun and fresh for your late summery nights.

A-side song Give and Take is 4 sturdy minutes of drone garage groove capturing the feeling of loose tension in between giving and taking and pushing and pulling. On the flip side, Nickel and Dime is a mucky pop song zeroing in on a dude unfit to pull his own damn weight and, from the sounds of it, not worth the trouble.

In 2017, two teenage high school lovebirds who bonded over a love of classic country and rock n roll decided to write and record their own songs for the fun of it. 4 years later, Cash & Skye was officially born, featuring Henri Cash, guitarist and founding member of the L.A. rock band Starcrawler, and the debut of Sophia Skye, daughter of Rilo Kiley bassist Pierre de Reeder. Recorded during 2019 and 2020 at LA’s 64Sound, this is their first release.

Ukerewe is the largest inland island in Africa and can only be reached by an overpacked four-hour ferry ride. It is a place so remote that historically people often traveled there to abandon their albino children.

Eighteen members of the Standing Voice community volunteered for our songwriting workshop, ranging in age from 24 to 57. But even among the willing, singing-out proved hard amongst a group that routinely avoided eye contact, rarely spoke above a whisper, and were unaccustomed to dancing.
