Following the success of his debut album Foto, Kota the Friend continues the momentum with the release of his latest project, Lyrics to Go, Vol. 1.

While Kota epitomizes what it means to be a true Brooklyn creative, honing his craft as a rapper, producer, photographer, and visual storyteller, Lyrics to Go, Vol. 1 exhibits that his contributions to the hip-hop landscape serve as the pinnacle to his varied creativity.

Carefully composed across a consistent, chillwave soundscape, Lyrics to Go, Vol. 1 calls attention to the dichotomy of life, and how it's perpetual obstacles tend to have a destabilizing impact on our mental health and conceptions of fulfillment. An ode to growth and staying power, "Lazy River" grapples with these themes of hardship until it seamlessly transitions into "She," a track that serves to showcase love as a glimmer of hope within the human psyche. While it is sonically coherent on its own, Kota's aesthetically warm, visual adaptation of "She" reinforces how the simplicities in life can also be the most rewarding.

Kota has made it apparent that the beautifully crafted 10-track project is more than just an audible experience - it's rooted in complex ideas and thoughtful interpretation across multiple mediums.

Lyrically, Kota on Vol. 2 deals with one thing above all: himself. An amazing amount of insight into the soul of a young rapper. Regardless of whether the focus is on the future or the past, and regardless of whether the topics are more melancholic or lighter: Kota's attitude towards life is always positive.

The other tracks alternate between organic and distorted beats. What they all have in common is that they contain a keyboard melody and convey a light-footed mood.

Native Angeleno, producer, emcee (formerly known as Subtitle) and all around crevvy dude Giovanni Marks is releasing a new ten-track instrumental EP through the killers at HIT+RUN entitled "Double Tech Jeep Music" !
Recorded over the fall/winter 2014 season, the record serves as a semi-formal introduction to the "crev-wave" sub-genre of music that Giovanni has been cooking up over the last few years, as well as a soundtrack to the various escapades one would encounter while walking the roads and streets of their own area code. Rounded out by an appearance from the enigmatic Coto, (bass on "Put Name Here") this is definitely a indication that the crevolution just might be televised.

Born and raised in Brooklyn N.Y., Doom has been into the culture since the early 80's from being a Graff writer, a B-Boy, a DJ and a Hip Hop producer. He has been in the studio with numerous artists all over the globe. His latest album "Temple of Doom" was a great success and received positive reviews worldwide. It featured many veteran MC's, including Craig G, Large Professor, Prince Po, Krumbsnatcha, Blaq Poet, and Grand Daddy I.U. to name a few.

It was last year, when talks about this record started. Doom invited Reks and Blacastan to create what was originally planned a 7" single. After a few months of brainstorming, and organizing the content, together with Doom we decided to extend it to an EP format.

Though again, produced using the mighty SP1200, we present to you a completely different record than all of our previous releases, our first 10" vinyl.

'City Of God' featuring Reks is a powerful narrative about the violent state of affairs in many of America's cities. Inspired by the movie 'Cidade De Dios' by Fernando Meirelles, Reks gives the listener an in-depth descriptive about everyday events one has to experience in order to survive in a tough, concrete jungle. Doom's precisely chopped piano stabs complement his lyrics, adding further gloominess to the track.
There are two versions of 'City Of God' on this record, the original on Side A, and the "Park Bench Mix" featured on Side B.

On 'Transmitting Live', Blacastan schools all wanna-be rappers on what it takes to be a true, hard to the bone MC. The charismatic poet, Blac brings us right to the centre of action in a crime-filled neighborhood, where gang violence is omnipresent. His explosive delivery and gripping storytelling blends perfectly with Doom's grimey, head-nodding instrumental.

The last track on the EP is a bonus beat called "SP Madness". Like in all of the instrumentals on the 10", here Doom also utilized only 10 seconds of sampling time.

Canadian super-producer, Factor under the new moniker Factor & the Chandeliers, creates his first sample-free fully instrumental album which Factor's signature dusty breaks experiment with a variety of genres from Hip Hop, 80s era R&B and Shoegaze.
