Originally pressed in 2019 on yellow vinyl by Vinyl Fanatiks – the tracks have had the 7” edit treatment by Rog, creating a unique collectors item for the hardcore heads out there.

Who remembers the UK rapper MC Duke from Music Of Life? That all-time classic ‘Miracles’ as well as being sampled in untold rave tunes in the early 90’s including Prodigy’s ‘Everybody In The Place’ which uses his lyric ‘Can’t beat the system, go with the flow’. Well, did you know that MC Duke and his DJ, Leader One, went on to create jungle a few years later?

This was their first jungle release before they went on and formed Hard Disk where they released the rest of their output. An EP that has the essence of the hip hop sample culture, showcasing how creative you can be with the right record collection at your disposal.

Originally released on Shoebox in 1993, this wonderfully pink piece of vibrant vinyl comes with two hardcore/proto-jungle bangers made by SDR & Subsonic who also own Shoebox. They are also the artists behind the Digital Pressure release on A Guy Called Gerald’s label Juicebox (keep it locked to Vinyl Fanatiks in 2024 for this one).

This release has been sought after for a good number of years with the usual high-ticket price on Discogs. But now the opportunity is here to grab a copy at a fraction of the price with some saying it is also a better sounding release compared to the original pressing.

Greek producer, mSdoS, has gone to the other side of the world to collaborate with Subsid, a Brazilian Producer, to craft up the song entitled, "Malibu". The song oozes with uplifting musicality and summer vibes, heating things up for the warmer time of the year. British producers, Payback & Conspire, team up to produce the second offering. The track offers up a more edgy sound, but is softened up by its epic pads and dreamy soundscapes. Overall, these 4 producers have created some classic music that will stand the test of time. Acens last EP on Kniteforce was Kf113 Play 2092 and it sold out, and we ordered a few more, and sold out again, and recently we ordered another repress which have almost all gone already. We have no idea how many we will need of this new EP, but probably loads because its brilliant, which is exactly what we have all come to expect from one of the most legendary producers ever to grace the world of hardcore.

This is the 4th ep that continues a volume of a 5 ep project. Its own kind of album type edition so to speak. Not an ordinary piece of music, with the artist expressing themselves from past musical influences, to curve their own piece of storytelling art, through audio sonic means. An inner world reflective explanation can be as follows - An epic piece revealing the adventures of seeking depth, from ones dense conscious reality, tribal like mannerisms, traveling to a higher frequency of light and wonder, breaking through to the heart centre of ones own unique truth. By doing so, welding together the whole aspects of being, Arriving at ones own true balance of self. Reuniting with the dense tribal like self yet with a complete transformative understanding of life and self in relation to life as a whole. Acid Skanking is dedicated to cross-cultural riddims. the first one drops versions of the ‚planck‘ riddim: acid basslines meets dub science on 162 bpm. there we go ska rude girls and boys skanking on acid. the flip side with the ‚hypernism planck‘ brings back old school hardcore on the same bassline inclusive a proper slamming hoover ending.

As 2020 draws to a close the Surface Tension Series reaches its apex with part III, containing a like number of compositions which continue the sound refined and alloyed in the preceding volumes.

Industries Of The Blend is the latest project from Dj Luna-C, and this is his second EP under that name. Once again aiming for a slightly slower speed and earlier era, this one leans more into the Njoi, Rhythm Section type of original old skool, with light painos and swiftly changing patterns and stabs. Each track is beautifully crafted to fit in with both an early 1992 set, and the modern love for authentic old skool. Each track was made entirely on hardware, and the original soundscape is obvious to any old skool raver.

The First Second Label family return for 2021 with Housebreaker, the highly anticipated return of Ellll following her much loved Febreeze EP from 2019. London’s Parris then rewires the OG, simmering the tempo down low to 110bpm for a sinister nocturnal skank for the night fiends who thrive when entering into first light.

NRGs return to the scene has been phenomenal, and this EP only serves to underscore why his mighty talent for incredible music deserves the legendary status it inevitably gets. Inside is 4 thunderous rave tracks, with the lead tune, Inside, destined to be a classic. Meanwhile NRG takes things forward with “Ive Been Waiting” and lets the beats speak for themselves in Dancefloor Rockin, leaving only “Yeah” to make you agree you just listened to both the future and the past.

These represses of classic Liquid Crystal tunes continue to hit hard and fast. All four tracks on this EP are much loved and much wanted, with particular standouts being the title track, “Let It Go” and of course, the Inner Sense Remix”. But all of the tunes here deserve their place in old skool history as innovative and wonderful dancefloor classics.

Influential was a Kniteforce owned jungle / d’n’b label that ran for nearly 20 releases back in the late 90’s, before coming to a halt as KFA took off. But now it is returning, revamped into an old skool styled jungle label, complete with irreverent samples and deep jungle bass and dancehall vibes. All four tracks on this EP lean in slightly different directions, but all are forwards in reverse, proper jungle for those who know the original sound.

"How does it feel to reminisce? That was something I wanted to try to capture in soundwaves. I tend to reminisce a lot. About the good and bad parts in the past, and everything in between. I try to remember which specific parts in my life made me who I am today. Thinking about those events is going to make me feel a certain way, and i wanted to try to convert these feelings into songs.

Reminiscing to me, is also a very visual experience in my head. So I decided to take sounds that were close to me from the past and make something cinematic that still works as a full song. I've been using a lot of granulated sounds, which is almost like a shattered memory reconstructed into a new one, as your feelings can change recovering the same memory. So you can close your eyes and go on your own reminiscing journey, discovering loads of layers weaved through these soundwaves." - Sam A La Bamalot

Sub Terrain pops back online with a sophomore release, this time it's Dreamlogicc flying solo with 5 tracks of growling, twitchy, sub-heavy junglist rockers to scratch what itches in your brain and work out the woofers at the same time. From the steppin' beats & wobbly bass of Whistle Tips to the icy menace of The Highest Heights, this is some extremely fine-tuned drum programming, miles from any of the many breakbeat clones filling the bins these days. Stretch and Enjoy returns to the AKO Arcade Series with two soulful jungle grooves. Share your dub is a groove that rolls and then the amen drops with edits and deep subs but doesn't lose that soulful element and keeps moving on the dance floor. Hold On is a soulful jungle banger that just rolls and rolls which takes you on a journey with sweet vocals, melodic pads, rolling breaks, and deep bass lines. One for the movers and groovers.

All comes together to present the 3rd release on La Rama Records. Nahash provides five pieces of varied influence for a cohesive effect, downtempo dance steppers to cinematic breaks for raw human motion.

After releases on Shanghai’s Svbkvlt and Lyon’s Polaar, Nahash goes local with brick and mortar operation La Rama. Working with New Jack samples and obscure orchestral Jazz, ‘Stockpiling’ is Nahash in a dance floor style, providing discerning DeeJays a tune for every moment of the night.

Workforce presents his debut album ‘Set & Setting’ on his own imprint Must Make Music. This body of work marks a significant new chapter for Jack as he continues to re-establish himself as a solo producer, DJ and label owner after 16 years as one half of the celebrated Drum & Bass duo Spectrasoul.

As an album, ‘Set & Setting’ is an absolute focussing of the Workforce sound. It’s the coming together of his influences and human experience to form the basis of the work - frenetically varied in both sound and feel, but held together by an overarching aesthetic and sonic palette.

'Set & Setting’, a phrase I’ve co-opted from the context of psychedelics, refers to the physical, mental, social, and environmental context that an individual brings to an experience.

The final chapter in the Rats: Infest series adds a left-field twist. Mike Parker is one of the most important historical Techno artists for us and has recently released two halftime EPs for Donato Dozzy & Neels Spazio Disponibile label which have been some of our favourite releases by another label in the last few years. Once we heard these EPs, we were on the hunt for some Mike Parker music on Samurai.

Mike Parker creates music live on an all-hardware setup and has done so since the mid-'90s. There is not really anyone that sounds like Mike and we're excited to have him on board at Samurai.

Mike has recalibrated his machines and created an all-new halftime sound specifically for this remix of 'Mainliner' and his upcoming EP for Samurai. Slightly more quirky and less dense than his usual approach, the machine pulses wind around a steadfast step. An unexpected, but perfect mood shift to re-imagine the Mainliner sinisterism.

Baby T makes a welcome return to the label following on from her debut EP Portra. This time the versatility of the Baby T sound is on display with a 140 Breakbeat killer re-sculpture of 'The Spell'. Dealing out euphoric vibe peaks with 4/4 punctuations and Reese/break combinations, this one is a guaranteed peaktime dancefloor weapon. We love Baby T!

Stratton returns to Of Paradise for the label’s 20th release. Chalking up a hat-trick of EP’s on the imprint, with the impeccably effective ‘Never Bettered Always Battered’. Arguably his most accomplished and significant release to date, this 4-tracker effortlessly showcases the London-based producers expertly distilled and patented style of evocative and headstrong UK hardcore.

The A-side launches with the anthemic ‘Badboy’, a true floor melter, loaded with tunnelling drums, an electric bassline and a criminally infectious chopped vocal. Following that is ‘Double Happiness (Bludclot Mix)’, a lethal dose of no nonsense proto-rave goods, emanating from the streets of North London. The product of a truly skilled operator who trades in no-nonsense tunes built specifically for the dancefloor.

‘Bless’ kicks off the flip side with effortless momentum. The impetus clearly focused on rupturing bassbins and rewiring brains, with its growling bassline, lethal Amen break, euphoric melody and rabid hoover. Closing out the release is ‘Vapour Trail Hurricane’ another system-rushing slice of hardcore mastery that pulls no punches in its pursuit of dancefloor dominance. Fuelled by a hammering kick, sharp sirens and swirling acid lines, these are the final moments before imminent self destruction.

This is true peak-time pressure from one of the UK’s most exciting and inimitable talents.

BE:AT WAR is the new album from Odessa’s Medium, who released the acclaimed Evolution of the Universe on Ohm Resistance in 2017. They have been writing drum and bass for over 15 years and released on labels such as Ohm Resistance, Sonic Terror, Hardline, Close2Death Recordings, Distortion Records, Combat Records and more. This follow up album is made under adversely different conditions - the approach of war to their home city, the assault on their native land. Yet these men are making music happen in the midst of it, recording their artistic and emotional reactions as chaos unfolds around them. Guest starring London MC Flowdan, Godflesh’s Justin K Broadrick, Simm and Submerged. BE:AT WAR is a full spectrum image of the horror, uncertainty, and perseverance surrounding these Ukraine-based producers.

Germany based MC Fava releases his first solo EP on Beatalistics, the imprint he co-runs with Freiburgs soulful tag team partner Enea. This has been a long time coming and it couldn't be more emotional. The 5 track strong "Destiny EP" reveals more of the hopeless romantic songwriter's soul and once again showcases his immense versatility. Finish Drum 'n Bass legend Muffler adds his inimitable minimal melodic touches to the title track and underlines Fava's personal lyrics with his trancy trademark signature. Shooting Star Mountain from Japan shows his unique talent and musical approach on the 80s Synth-Pop influenced "Midnight", a rock-bass driven song characterized by its harmonised vocals arrangement. Teaming up with British vocalist Becca Jane Grey and Slovakian Smote, "Sarah" is a soul touching piano based liquid roller with a long acoustic drum intro which perfectly leads into the highest emotions. Enea himself takes you into deeper shades of colour with the moody "Green Velvet". Hypnotizing pads complete the warm bassline pattern which wraps the simple but distinctive drums perfectly around Fava's mesmerizing vocals. The Green Man from Cologne, Germany concludes the emotional rollercoaster ride with the Downtempo Chill-Hop "Alone in the Dark". Smooth horns and breathy pads create the perfect atmosphere for the German vocalist who playfully mixes melodic singing hooks with calm spoken words and repetitive chants. Outstanding on all levels!
