Kangol Beanies

Established in 1938 in Northwest England, founder Jacques Spreiregen created the brand name Kangol name by combining the first letter from knitting, the first half of angora, and the last two letters from wool. In the early stages, Kangol was known for creating beret hats for the British army in WWII, later the brand designd the outfits of the English Olympic Team for the 1948 opening ceremonies. A couple of years later, Kangol created their first seamless cap entitled 504: in the 1960s, Kangol exclusively provided headgear items for well-known music artists like the Beatles, Mary Quant, Pierre Cardin, and Arnold Palmer. In 1983, the signature kangaroo graphic was introduced, and the Kangol caps immediately became an in-demand fashion item, thanks to trendsetters such as Slick Rick, LL Cool J, Madonna, Michael Jordan, and Grandmaster Flash – Flash even sports the legendary hat in the Hip Hop Hall of Fame. Nowadays, Kangol is known for being one of the most influential hat brand that managed to connect British heritage with early hip hop lifestyle.
